Just dropping in to say hi to the newbies and how lovely to have more bfps! Will read more detail later- hectic.

20 wk scan tomorrow ...

Sunbird24 · 05/11/2020 19:35

Hi @Homassy, I remember you from another thread! Hope you get some lovely clear pictures tomorrow, are you finding out the sex or waiting for a surprise?

Homassy · 05/11/2020 20:43

Hi Smile I’ll be finding out. Sadly my partner will miss out as he is looking after the wee one but we’re itching to know!

M4v3r1ck · 05/11/2020 20:50

@Homassy good luck for tomorrow! 😘

@Honeydukesmum glad you had a good experience today! 😃

@SamoyedFan123 hope the blood test went ok! 😃

@CC81 that's amazing re: overall health! I'm sorry the low egg supply has cast doubt on yourself; however, as you say, this little one is a fighter! 😘🤞🏻

Did you ladies organise these private and additional appointments yourself, or did you speak with GP etc first - sorry, very clueless here! I have a midwife chat in early Dec booked, as well as 12-week scan for late Dec! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 all will be ok, but wouldn't mind some earlier reassurance...

I've definitely been having GI stuff - plenty of bloating and nausea! I'm app 4+4?! 🙃

ZoeRoma · 06/11/2020 10:32

@M4v3r1ck I can't get a GP appointment for love nor money here in Italy, thanks to the COVID crisis. So we're going to have bloods drawn privately tomorrow (results on Monday afternoon). Then we'll have a private scan and Harmony test at 11 weeks, assuming the pregnancy sticks.

CC81 · 06/11/2020 11:22

@M4v3r1ck - First time around, we did as follows:

8 weeks = Booked an early scan privately (also had our NHS booking-in apt).

10 weeks = Booked an IONA test privately.

12 weeks = Had the usual NHS dating scan (and checks for abnormalities).

The 8-week scan was to convince us it was real before we paid £400 for the IONA test - which we wanted before the 12-week scan (as it can take a while for the NHS abnormalities test results to come back).

We wanted to be able to tell people, as it was getting tough to hide.

We feel the same this time, but more nervous!!! The NHS has offered an 8-week scan because I'd already been referred to the fertility team. I may also have extra scans because I'll be classed as 'high risk', under consultant care (simply because my first baby was born via c-section). If it gets that far.

I took another cheapo test today (!!!) and there was a very definite line (darker than 6 days ago), so that's reassuring (although not out of the woods yet).

Wavesandsmilesencore · 06/11/2020 15:31

I hope the scan has gone well @Homassy 😊

I have a few weeks before my next appointment, with the “big” 22 week scan on 3 December. Still not quite got my head around the system here, and just now moving into some anxieties around child birth itself. Like @ZoeRoma I’m in Europe, actually Luxembourg where there are 3 official languages and whilst my french is passable I think things could be a lot more challenging in that environment.

Ah well, countdown to the weekend, hope everyone is well!

ZoeRoma · 06/11/2020 17:03

@Wavesandsmilesencore Good luck. I'm hoping beyond hope that COVID19 will have calmed down by the time I give birth and I can have my husband with me for that at least!

Homassy · 06/11/2020 17:30

Thanks guys. Twenty weeks went well and it’s a girl Smile. It must be hard navigating unfamiliar health care systems not in your first language. It’s bad enough here. How is everyone feeling. Hope those in first trimester aren’t too nauseous x

lucieloos · 06/11/2020 17:37

Congratulations @Homassy that's lovely news! I'm feeling horrendous, constant nausea 24/7.

Sunbird24 · 06/11/2020 18:42

Congratulations Homassy! Now you can start narrowing down names...
Not so much on the nausea here, just fatigue, thirst and round ligament pain. Told my parents today as it’s my mum’s birthday, they’re over the moon

Wavesandsmilesencore · 07/11/2020 15:36

Congratulations @Homassy that’s great news! Sorry for those struggling with nausea, I’ve now managed 4 days without vomiting at all so hoping (at 17+4) that is the end of it for me. I’m thinking of waiting until after my next appointment then letting work know, probably keeping it quiet in terms of anyone else for a bit longer, partly as I know my mum will be so stressed out with me being in another country and chances of her coming to visit/help out at around 0% if this situation is still continuing in April. Fortunately still not looking very different, especially since it’s warm jumper season.

Wavesandsmilesencore · 07/11/2020 17:14

Oh, and with my NIPT results I found out that I’m having a little boy 😊. I had no expectation otherwise given my track record of DS DD DS DD... had to be another DS really!

M4v3r1ck · 07/11/2020 18:17

Fab, thanks for the info, ladies - much appreciated! 😘 Just got my NHS letters through today - eek!

Wow, I can't imagine how hard it would be navigating all of this in a different language and healthcare system! 🙈

Yay to great scans and how exciting finding out boy vs girl! 😍😍😍 Happy name planning!

Symptoms aside, I Hope everyone's having a good Saturday night - it'll be so worth it after all this! 😍😍😍

I'm so bloated, so I probs look pregnant even though I'm months away from showing! 🤪🤪🤪

CC81 · 08/11/2020 08:30

Has anyone else found that symptoms come and go in early pregnancy?

I'm somewhere between 5 and 6 weeks (I think) and the last couple of days I've felt fairly normal. I don't know if my symptoms have gone, or if I'm just getting used to them, so not noticing as much.

How worried should I be, do you think?

(First time I was pregnant I don't remember feeling weird until after 6 weeks, but this time I've felt a bit sick, bloated, crampy, etc.)

mouldygrapes · 08/11/2020 10:54

Hey @CC81 I remember you from the TTC board, congratulations!

I felt exactly like that. A bit sick when I got my positive test, then generally fine till around 6-7 weeks when the sickness hit. It’s been on and off since (am 12+2) now. God I hope it’s gone soon!

Congratulations @Homassy and @Wavesandsmilesagain on finding out the sex - so exciting!

Have my first NHS scan on Weds, excited and nervous

CC81 · 08/11/2020 11:36

Thanks @mouldygrapes - that helps Smile I'm panicking at literally everything! It's so tough not knowing. It's a bizarre experience, actually wanting to feel sick, but it's all we have to go on at this stage!

Massive good luck for your scan - it's such an anxious wait! But sounds like you're doing well so far.

Did you have an early scan privately? x

mouldygrapes · 08/11/2020 11:55

Thanks @CC81 yes had an early private scan at 8ish weeks, saw a heartbeat which was a big relief.
I’m worried about nuchal thickness and the screening bloods now (there’s always something to worry about, isn’t there!) but let’s see how we go

lucieloos · 08/11/2020 12:25

We have our early scan tomorrow, I will be 7+4. I feel absolutely awful with sickness and nausea all the time, even in the middle of the night in bed. I'm sure it's normal to have days where you feel ok @CC81 as your hormones fluctuate. I just desperately wish that I could have one at the moment. I'm starting to get a little worried about the possibility of twins.

Sunbird24 · 09/11/2020 10:58

Good luck with the scan today @lucieloos!

lucieloos · 09/11/2020 13:57

Had the scan today and all looking good. Measuring a day ahead and got to see the little heartbeat 💛

CC81 · 09/11/2020 14:02

@lucieloos - That's great - so pleased for you Smile

I'm feeling a bit iffy today, which is mildly reassuring. I never know whether it's just tiredness and anxiety, though (sleep not great at the mo). Aaaaagh.

Not sure when to book my first appointments. Clinically I'm 6 weeks tomorrow (since last period started), but I think I conceived on about day 20 of my cycle, which throws things off by nearly a week. I don't want to book the 8-week scan too early.

CC81 · 10/11/2020 08:07

Is anyone using a pregnancy tracker app where you can record symptoms, quickly see which week you're on, etc?

Most of them seem to be designed for the later stages of pregnancy, so are focused on preparing for birth, the baby, etc.

I feel a bit sick this morning and it occurred to me that it might help if I record these things.

Sunbird24 · 10/11/2020 09:33

I’m using Pregnancy+, seems quite good? It was free anyway! I’ve put my appointments on it, and ideas for baby names, and check every morning to see what new info there is for my day/week

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 09:41

Yes pregnancy + here too
