Hey
How is everyone today? @kwastell that’s good you had your booking done and they were lovely. Great that you have a plan for the next few weeks too, I find when there is appointments to look forward to it helps me!
@lastditchattempt20 that’s exciting that you have a scan on wed, good luck.

@Homassy great that you have your scan on Friday, sorry that you haven’t been feeling well 😞

CakeAndPreggers · 08/09/2020 13:36

Hi everyone. Thank you all for thinking of me on Sunday for scan. Unfortunately they discovered a Mmc. Had an NHS scan yesterday to confirm and now just waiting for nature to take its course. Baby measured 7+5 and I had Sunday scan at 8+4. Need to wait a week for anything to happen naturally before I get any medical management.
Staying positive in that I can get pregnant and that the body is amazing enough to realise not to progress the baby as something wasn't right. Pretty in awe of my body for doing that and so I'm going to go easy on myself.
All the staff at the hospital was just so lovely and I had no idea about statistics surrounding mmc or mc. One of those unspoken things about pregnancy I guess.

We are 'jumping back on the bandwagon' as soon as we can so I'll lurk around the thread and hopefully have some positive news soon. 😊

Hi ladies, may I join? I'm 36 and at 8 weeks with my first after trying for 14 months. My emotions are currently flitting between anxiety and disbelief, which is not what I expected it to be like! Trying to stay positive! x

kwastell · 08/09/2020 17:13

Am so sorry @CakeAndPreggers Thinking of you and look after yourself. Sounds like you're handling it well ❤️

I had my re-scan today and this time there was a baby and a heartbeat! They put me at 6+5 so I am later than I thought. Its such a relief

kwastell · 09/09/2020 19:35

Amazing news @Elspethelf so happy for you

lastditchattempt20 · 09/09/2020 20:55

Great news @Elspethelf ! I had private scan at 10w today and all was well. How is everyone else? Plodding slowly on to 12w?

kwastell · 09/09/2020 22:01

That's great @lastditchattempt20

Yes, I am counting the days to week 12. 9 more to go! Been feeling a bit ropey, but nothing worse than a bit hangovery

OP posts:
Elspethelf · 10/09/2020 05:26

@Lastditchattempt20 yes plodding along to 12 weeks which is hard when they put your dates back almost 2 weeks!! We decided to not tell family until 12 weeks too. I am glad your scan went well :)

Unexpectedover40 · 10/09/2020 06:05

Hey, I’m 44 last period 31st July this is an unexpected pregnancy with my new partner of nearly 3yrs. I’m divorced with 3 children already my youngest started secondary yesterday so it’s come as a bit of a shock. We don’t live together and he already has kids so it’s a bit messy. Partner wanted me to have an early termination but I can’t do it so I’m not sure if I’m working through this on my own or he will be around 🙈. Feeling nauseous a lot of the time really sore boobs and feeling tired. Booked in with the midwife 16th sept not sure about getting scanned early I was told I would be treated the same as any pregnant woman no extra provisions because of my age?

Unexpectedover40 · 10/09/2020 06:13

I feel really bloated too I look four months pregnant!

kwastell · 10/09/2020 10:01

Congratulations @Unexpectedover40

Sorry to hear your partner might not be on board. That must be really tough. I hope you're getting the support you need?

I didn't get any additional support from the NHS (slightly different circumstances though - 3 recurrent miscarriages) because of the difficult position they're in with coronavirus. Not sure if that's the same with your situation? I have seen other people get NHS support though so I think I might depend on your area. It might be worth speaking to your midwife?

He’s up and down with it I think he will be ok but it’s a life and I can’t abort it so whatever will be will be!

Homassy · 11/09/2020 20:34

Congratulations @Unexpectedover40 but sorry your partner isn’t supportive. You must be going through a lot of emotions.

I had my twelve week scan today and all well. Low risk on the standard score and trying to decide whether to have private Iona as well.

kwastell · 11/09/2020 21:20

Hurray @Homassy that's ace!

Are you feeling better about things?

OP posts:
Unexpectedover40 · 11/09/2020 22:47

That’s nice news

Unexpectedover40 · 11/09/2020 22:48

Glad to say partner isn’t over the moon but he’s not running in the other direction

lastditchattempt20 · 11/09/2020 23:04

Great news @Homassy ! ☺️ I'm trying to decide about IONA also- is it just blood test or scan also? Can you get it via hospital (but still pay)?

kwastell · 11/09/2020 23:29

I've just had to look up what the IONA test is. Sounds a whole lot better than the massive needle my midwife told me about that you get on the NHS if you're measuring at high risk in the scan. Do a lot of people pay for that as an extra check over 35?

OP posts:
Homassy · 12/09/2020 07:00

Last time I paid for private NIPT test and scan with baby bond. This time I left it till nhs result. It’s great it is low risk but of course this is an algorithm based on age, nuchal, hormone level (Papp A) rather than genetic testing. So the Iona can be done privately via nhs. At my unit it’s £300 (no further scan). Private NIPT and scan was £400.
