@Wavesandsmilesencore I hope you get early medication. HG sounds absolutely awful.

I've got my private 8 week scan this afternoon. Feeling pretty anxious about it all so I'll get up and try and distract myself. Going alone as partner doing childcare. Was anyone else due a scan about now?

Hope everyone is ok.

KJB2020 · 16/08/2020 08:16

@Homassy good luck with your scan today, let us know how you get on.

Wavesandsmilesencore · 16/08/2020 09:35

Good luck for later @Homassy. I’m just back from my appointment and in fact the obstetrician did an early scan. There is a gestational sac but nothing to see inside which she said is normal (and I have slightly long cycles and didn’t track ovulation).... but I’m still a bit worried. I am going for next appointment on Saturday 29 and DP will come in with me that time (today he was looking after my DCs). I’m sure I’m now going to spend the next 13 days stressing out like never before. On the positive she was really lovely and if fingers crossed this proceeds well I feel less overwhelmed about being in a new system.

kwastell · 16/08/2020 10:47

Oh I'm sorry @Wavesandsmilesencore I know how worrying it is. Hopefully you'll go back in 13 days and it will have developed. Think it's a good sign the obstetrician said it's normal - from my experience they're very careful not to give you any false hope.

Good luck today @Homassy

@Wavesandsmilesencore sorry you've had a worrying morning. I would agree if you know you have a long cycle and weren't tracking ovulation then you could absolutely be as much as a week off on your dates. And having just had two scans a week apart that time makes a massive difference in what they can see. It doesn't mean there's nothing there- just a bit too small to be picked up on scan yet. Thinking of you.
@Homassy hope all goes well today.
Still not back to normal here- mostly brown discharge when wiping which I guess is better than red but still unsettling.

Homassy · 16/08/2020 16:16

Thanks everyone. A little 8 week bean with beating heart was seen. X

kwastell · 16/08/2020 16:41

Hurray @Homassy that's great 🎉

kwastell · 16/08/2020 16:42

Could you have cervical erosion @lastditchattempt20? Could be causing the brown discharge.

OP posts:
lastditchattempt20 · 16/08/2020 16:46

I thought it might be cervical @kwastell but then they saw an intrauterine area of bleeding on scan (not near embryo) I think it's still trickling tbh, but only shows when wiping so am just crossing fingers and hoping for best as we're away for a week tomorrow.

kwastell · 16/08/2020 17:05

Ah of course, I forgot they'd seen that at your scan @lastditchattempt20. Should it go away on its own eventually?

Hope you have a lovely week away and manage to relax.

lastditchattempt20 · 16/08/2020 17:12

Thanks. I don't know. Have read about people who bleed on and off for weeks! Not sure I can cope with that (not that I have much choice!). Have sent off info to midwives so hopefully will get scan date soon, but if it's scheduled for after 12 wks I might have a private one prior to that if still bleeding. The EPAU staff were so lovely though- I would maybe ask there first if I'm still worried. Thought it was stopping then had one bit of reddish mucus earlier. 😕

Homassy · 16/08/2020 19:06

@lastditchattempt20 I think I bled on and off till about 18 or 20 weeks in first pregnancy. It was just a small subchorionic haematoma and everything was fine but I remember how worrying it is seeing blood. I hope it all settles down soon x

lastditchattempt20 · 16/08/2020 19:09

@Homassy thanks. Did they recommend anything for you? Finding I feel very fragile and not wanting to exert myself at all- even though may not make any difference.

KJB2020 · 16/08/2020 19:10

@Homassy fab news about your scan 🎉

Homassy · 16/08/2020 20:10

I didn’t get any advice about it other reassured it’s pretty common. I struggled to get a consistent answer about exercise and just took it a bit more gently

kwastell · 17/08/2020 10:24

How's everyone this morning?

Feeling really miserable yesterday and this morning. Which seems daft as I got such good news at the scan on Friday. Am thinking it might be a side effect from the prednisone tablets and cyclogest pessaries I'm on - both can cause low moods.

KJB2020 · 17/08/2020 10:53

Good morning
@kwastell sorry to hear your feeling miserable ☹️ hopefully if it’s side effects of the medication you adapt to it soon, nothing worse than feeling low.

I had felt really good Fri/Sat with minimal symptoms, then unexpectedly REALLY nauseous yesterday and this morning. Going to try and improve my eating habits and eat little and often to see if that helps. I have my scan on Wed at 10am so looking forward to that, but naturally apprehensive.

I hope everyone has a good Monday! 😁

Homassy · 17/08/2020 19:07

How are you feeling now @kwastell? I think the emotional load, plus hormones, plus medications is a lot and feeling rubbish is ok. Hope you managed to have a good day and had some time to look after yourself too. I’m ok just nausea and tired ++ Hope you feel less sick @KJB2020 . I find I have good days and less good ones too

kwastell · 17/08/2020 20:05

Thank you. Still feeling sorry for myself - keep trying to remind myself it's the medication and just to go with it. Finished work early and sulked on the sofa 😂

I've been trying to eat better too, feel like I need more vegetables.

Has anyone got any recommendations for good pregnancy or baby books? I read What to Expect When You're Expecting when I was pregnant with my DS. Have a vague memory of it being useful!

Not feeling very hopeful this week. Still consistently having brown/red discharge when wiping and some clots/tissue? It's not heavy and no pain but still upsetting. Just wish I could have resolution one way or another. On holiday now so can't do anything. 😕

kwastell · 18/08/2020 10:47

Sorry to hear that @lastditchattempt20. Hopefully things are still fine, but I know it's hard to feel like that. It's so difficult. Could you book another scan after your holiday.

OP posts:
kwastell · 18/08/2020 10:49

I find it helpful to read positive stories from other people. We can't change the outcome so we may as well attempt to think the best. (I know this is easier said than done, and I feel different day to day)

I just did the Bettina Rae pregnancy meditation for anxiety. She had three losses in a year and wishes she’d let herself connect more, not less. I’m guilty of not letting myself think or talk about the pregnancy without a load of “if it happens” etc as if that can change or protect me from loss. So I found it quite interesting to try and connect and let myself do that. It’s a very calming one- on you tube x
