I've started bleeding this evening 😔 boobs not feeling sore either. Will wait for scan on Sunday but not feeling hopeful.

EmeraldLily18 · 13/08/2020 21:36

Hi everyone, quick question - I have had issues with my teeth this past week and saw emergency dentist. I was given a prescription for antibiotics that are ‘pregnancy safe’ in case I need them. Things had settled down yesterday but I’m now in more and more pain. I’m really nervous about taking antibiotics (I’m about 6 weeks along).
Has anyone taken antibiotics when pregnant? I guess I just need some reassurance!

I’ve also had some moderate period type pains today and a tiny bit of spotting for the first time...probably nothing to be worried about but I can’t help the anxiety levels rising as this is my first pregnancy so not really sure what to expect! 🤷🏻‍♀️

KJB2020 · 13/08/2020 21:44

@lastditchattempt20 really sorry to hear that 😞 I hope your bleeding settles and that your scan on Sunday provides reassurance. Take care of yourself.

kwastell · 13/08/2020 22:01

I'm so sorry @lastditchattempt20. I hope it doesn't continue. x

@EmeraldLily18 I'm on antibiotics for a water infection. If they're pregnancy safe I'm sure it's fine. Mine were prescribed by the emergency gynaecology unit at the hospital - and sure they wouldn't do anything that's a risk.

Sporting in pregnancy is very common, so fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about. I would call the early pregnancy unit at your hospital if you're really worried.

Spotting not sporting!

Thanks @kwastell I’ll go and get them tomorrow 🤞🏼

Sorry to hear that @lastditchattempt20 hopefully nothing untoward and just things moving and settling Flowers

Homassy · 14/08/2020 07:55

Thinking of @lastditchattempt20 and hoping bleeding has settled. Early pregnancy is such a minefield

kwastell · 14/08/2020 10:16

Had a midwife appointment this morning. Just took basic details to send to the hospital to get my 12 week scan. The midwife was lovely so am relieved after a few grumpy experiences in the past.

Got my follow up scan from last week at 3.30pm today. Am very nervous and not feeling too optimistic.

How is the bleeding today @lastditchattempt20? Thinking of you

OP posts:
kwastell · 14/08/2020 10:17

And have you had any more spotting @EmeraldLily18?

KJB2020 · 14/08/2020 10:38

Morning!
@kwastell that’s good you have had your booking appointment and it was a lovely midwife, makes such a difference when people are nice 😁 good luck for your scan this afternoon, let us know how you get on, I hope it goes well and will be thinking of you.

@lastditchattempt20 how are you doing today? Thinking of you and hope the bleeding is less.

I just had a call from the Maternity unit so my 12 week scan is on Wednesday morning at 10am 🤩

lastditchattempt20 · 14/08/2020 10:41

Morning all. Have been brave and got out of bed- still losing blood but not heavy and no cramps. Currently trying to convince an EPAU to scan me. Thanks for thinking of me, I'll keep you posted. I was so upset last night, feel a bit calmer now.

kwastell · 14/08/2020 16:57

@lastditchattempt20 is there a reason why they won't scan you? Because you're not having cramps as well as the blood?

Good it's not heavy and no cramps though.

@kwastell was your scan today? How it went well.

Homassy · 14/08/2020 17:03

Hope even! My typing has gone to pot. Almost 8 weeks and feeling v dizzy and nausea here. Really struggled through the changes in posture in the zoom yoga class. Thank goodness for being able to blank
Out my screen and heavily modify postures (lie down!)

kwastell · 14/08/2020 17:15

Had my scan. Saw a heartbeat and it's measuring just under 7 weeks - which matches my dates 🎉

So relieved - was expecting bad news.

lastditchattempt20 · 14/08/2020 17:24

Hi all, @kwastell so glad your scan went well! I think they just have policy of not scanning for bleeding unless cramps or clots but o managed to convince someone how anxious I was and got a scan this afternoon 👍 Saw embryo with good heartbeat measuring on dates. Also a small area of bleeding in uterus which they said shouldn't be an issue. So relieved!

kwastell · 14/08/2020 17:41

Hurray @lastditchattempt20 - brilliant news ✨

Hurray kwastell and last ditch! Perfect news xx

KJB2020 · 14/08/2020 18:07

Yay @kwastell and @lastditchattempt20 so pleased both your scans went well 🎉 that must be a huge relief for you both.

EmeraldLily18 · 14/08/2020 18:46

Aw, great to read about positive scans today!

Thanks for checking in @kwastell! No more spotting although I never stopped at work today so didn’t really have time to think about it either!
Been to collect antibiotics so hopefully those will kick in soon and my dental pain will do one 🤞🏼

Happy weekend everyone!

Wavesandsmilesencore · 15/08/2020 11:51

So pleased for the good scan news @kwastell and @lastditchattempt20! I’m waiting for tomorrow when I see the gynaecologist but have no idea what happens at the appointment. Maybe an early scan (apparently they do lots here) and maybe just a prescription for a blood test (which I understand have to be done monthly). I had severe hyperemesis in my last two pregnancies so I’m going to ask for some medication as I’ve already started vomiting quite regularly 🤢. Last time I got away with only three admissions but I think this was largely because my obstetrician started me with Ondansetron at 6 weeks. With DS2 I had multiple admissions and ended up with a picc line and needing daily iv anti emetics and fluids so desperately hoping this doesn’t happen again

kwastell · 15/08/2020 14:15

Thanks everyone. So relieved 😅

Oh gosh @Wavesandsmilesencore. My friend has that and it looks absolutely awful. Hope you can get started on medication.
