Hey! Just hoping to join in some chats and this looks like an active thread 😊 due 16/04/2021. Just had 8 week scan yesterday. Complete noob and a bit overwhelmed 🥴 but ploughing on! Big hello to everyone 👋

doritodiva · 05/09/2020 06:46

@Tiff94 are you on the hyperemesis board? Well I've woke up and been sick. So I'm going back up to three tablets. I can't start going backwards when everything was going better.

Nichelette · 05/09/2020 09:29

Sorry about your news @Milliemoo222

I haven't popped in for a bit but I'm 34 too. Still waiting for my booking appointment which is the day I hit 12 weeks so no idea when scan will be. I'm a bit concerned because SIL had a downs baby and he is lovely but has had so many health issues and operations I wouldn't want to put a baby through the same. I know there are differing levels and he seems to have been quite bad (lots of heart surgery, colostomy etc) but it does worry me.

I'm feeling much better in myself. I'm actually surprised how okay I feel aside from getting tired. Nausea has passed and boob pain is far less. Sense of smell and taste still funny but it's manageable without the nausea. Am 10 weeks tomorrow so hopefully will stay feeling okay.

Hope others are getting on well. Really hope DH can come to the scan.

FarmGirl1 · 05/09/2020 10:13

@Nichelette so sorry to hear about your SIL difficult time. Downs has been in my family too, so I'm concerned. I'm planning on getting the Harmony test at around 11 weeks which screens for chromosomal abnormalities, it's a bit pricey but totally worth my piece of mind. BTW I'm 34 too 😊

LeopardLover · 05/09/2020 10:29

@Nichelette @FarmGirl1Hey 34 club! Ah, that's a bit annoying your booking appointment is so late, hopefully you'll get your scan the week after! Mine is just before I'm 10 weeks. Your poor nephew going through all those ops - must be hard for your SIL to watch him go through all that.

I am considering the Harmony test, is it something you need to book in quite far in advance? I read online it's best to do it from 14+weeks - is that wrong?

gypsywater · 05/09/2020 10:30

Is the Harmony test offered by the NHS now?

Nichelette · 05/09/2020 10:47

Thanks @FarmGirl1 :). I think it's worse because this is my first and it feels like everyone else is having appointments before me so I just feel a bit clueless. Because of my appointment date it looks like it will need to be organised pretty quickly now. I think depending on what they say I might look at the harmony one too. I might actually reply to the appointment email to say I want testing. Might get me scanned a bit quicker. I think there are quite a few of us 34's about! SIL was 40 so I know I'm probably (hopefully) worrying unduly.

Nichelette · 05/09/2020 10:50

@LeopardLover yes it was really hard for her. He's nearly 3 now and doing well but he does have a lot of health problems and will still need more surgery in the future. He spent so much time in hospital away from home it was really hard. He's so lovely and cuddly though

FarmGirl1 · 05/09/2020 10:55

@Nichelette same here - first timer 😳 so no baseline, don't know what to expect. I'm classed as high risk for a multitude of reasons so lucky enough to get an early scan at 8 weeks - that was yesterday. All went well but had to go in on my own whilst my husband waited in the car. Back in again at 12 weeks but am looking to book Harmony and private scan before then so my husband can see the baby! Wish there was more support, but it's great to connect with others in similar positions 😊

Nichelette · 05/09/2020 11:12

@FarmGirl1 it's so hard to know what to expect first time but it's definitely nice to see how others in the same situation are doing. I hope all is okay for you. Its good they seem to be keeping a close eye. I'm lucky my only other concern, if you can call it that, is that there have been a lot of twin pregnancies in my family, but I'm okay if it is two. Being the first I was really hoping my mum could come for the birth (had spent a year trying so pre corona) but I can't see that happening now :(.

FarmGirl1 · 05/09/2020 12:46

@Nichelette I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for everything - corona sucks. We had been trying for 12 months too. I secretly wanted twins 😜 but no trace of them in either side of our families, and confirmed just one bean in there! At least with corona I'm well able to hide everything from people, probably for the best as the nausea and exhaustion have been REAL 😂 you have any niggling or unexpected symptoms?

Nichelette · 05/09/2020 13:48

@FarmGirl1 it really does! It would be tough financially but I wouldn't actually mind as that would be me done then. 32 was my ideal cut off but best laid plans and all that!

That is the saving grace! I was quite nauseous for a while but I think I got lucky compared to some. I really desperately want to tell my boss because of changes at work but I don't want to until I know all is well which is hard because we get along well, and I know it will come as a shock because its not something I've mentioned before. My sense of smell and taste has gone a bit mad. I'm really off some foods I usually love, and others don't taste right at all which is sad!

FarmGirl1 · 05/09/2020 14:16

I haven't told anyone apart from my nutritional coach, but I'm really wanting support but not comfortable until I get through the 12 week milestone and the tests. It's such a bloomin dilemma! My sense of smell has gone off the wall, luckily not my taste! But I now really dislike the smell of my dog 😳, some cleaning products, and sometimes my husband(!). I'm so ready to move on from this stage though - all my symptoms kicked in from the off and I'm pretty worn down at this stage. Have you noticed any changes at all for the better? 😊

Nichelette · 06/09/2020 07:48

@FarmGirl1 aww poor dog lol. I get where you're coming from though. If it helps I'm 10 weeks today and hope I've finally shaken the horrible hungover all the time feeling. Still getting pretty tired though!

Sexnotgender · 06/09/2020 07:56

Morning. How’s everyone today?

Been up since 5.30 with a teething toddler 🙁 feeling nauseous but managed some toast.

FarmGirl1 · 06/09/2020 08:23

@Nichelette that's fab news - I live in hope!

@Sexnotgender good going on you for getting something in. My go-to for super sick days is rice crispies 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was rudely awakened by our cat jumping on my boob this morning, nearly hit the ceiling 😂 we have Sunday pancakes tradition to uphold so I'm about to venture into the arena...

Nichelette · 06/09/2020 10:36

@Sexnotgender I don't envy you having to look after a toddler whilst going through this. My sister had 2 babies in the same calendar year and I'm still Shock when I think about it.

@FarmGirl1 I hope you survived the pancakes :D

Sexnotgender · 06/09/2020 11:01

My little guy is 19 months and generally very good but is very much a typical toddler. Plus I’m still working full time from home and his nursery hasn’t reopened yet😫 it’s horrendous. Thankfully DH is an absolute gem and more than pulling his weight but I’m exhausted. Nursery starts tomorrow for settling in sessions.

Welliedays · 06/09/2020 11:12

Morning @sexnotgender I don't envy you with a toddler to look after!! I'm 6 weeks 3 days today and I've been struggling alot with nausea to thr point I don't feel like food or drink - but haven't actually been sick, and exhaustion the last few days. I seemed better yesterday afternoon, but I'm back to feeling rubbish this morning.

Hope the pancakes went OK @farmgirl1, are you from a farm going by your name?

Tiff94 · 06/09/2020 12:10

Hey ladies, sorry to hear most are still unwell 10 weeks for me today and I'm still sick moment I wake up. Vomited a couple times already today didn't managed to keep my meds done yesterday I was so sick I never left bed and I think I'm on repeat today. Really hoping the sickness slows in the coming weeks as I'm way past the had enough of vomiting stage. I want to be in the enjoyment stage..

@Nichelette I got through half of them = success in my book!

@Welliedays the rest are going to the pigs! 😁 I am indeed on a smallholding-in-progress with pigs, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. Sorry to hear about the awful nausea, I have weirdly good days too from time to time, then bam, straight back to rubbish the next day. It's like walking around with a constant and very bad hangover!

@Tiff94 I'll check out the FB group - thanks for the link!

Nichelette · 06/09/2020 13:51

@Sexnotgender I'm glad you're getting help and nursery is opening up again. Hopefully the feeling rough will ease off soon, and for you too @Tiff94. Sorry you feel so ill :(. I feel like I've got off very lightly.

@FarmGirl1 I think that counts as a success!

Welliedays · 06/09/2020 15:16

Ahh @farmgirl1 I'm on a farm, we have cows and then arable land as well.

FarmGirl1 · 06/09/2020 15:22

@Welliedays ah that's amazing! We are only just starting out, but we have a coppice planted and an orchard started. A few other projects just coming into the picture too 😊

I'm feeling so meh though that I'm literally doing nothing at the moment and my superstar husband is holding down the fort! He comes from dairy farming stock, so he's well able 😉 defo an extra challenge tending to land and livestock.
