@Sexnotgender good to hear:)

Welliedays · 21/08/2020 08:06

Morning everyone, just a quick question - are heart palpitations quite normal? I've had them since I got out of bed this morning! Not majorly bad but constant and enough to be annoying!! I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day (but I'm still convinced AF will show her face aha)

LeopardLover · 21/08/2020 08:42

@Sexnotgender Hope you're okay and your booking appointment goes well!

@OneStepOneStumble Welcome and congratulations! 😊

@Welliedays I've noticed this recently too! X

Coffeeandtheriver · 21/08/2020 09:28

Hi all,

I’m 5 weeks today and have been reading the April threads for a while and finally decided to join in Smile

This is my first pregnancy, first time TTC and EDD is 23rd April.

@Welliedays - I’ve been having heart palpitations somewhat randomly as well, usually when I’m on the sofa in the evenings. It’s reassuring to hear that other people have this too as I’ve never experienced it before!

My only other symptom has been stomach cramps that come and go. I had breast tenderness initially (3-4 weeks) but it seems to have calmed down now - not sure if that’s a good or bad sign.

When did everyone call their GP/Midwife services? I’ve recently moved so registering with a new GP and not sure when to speak to them to get things moving. They are only holding e-consults at the GP, is it any different where you all are?

Anyone else struggling with caffeine intake? As my username indicates, I used to drink a lot of coffee and keeping down to 1 cup a day has been hard (decaf just doesn’t hit the spot...)

Hope you all have a good day Smile

Milliemoo222 · 21/08/2020 09:37

@Coffeeandtheriver welcome :)
I feel your pain with coffee! I have been having one caffine coffee every morning and then straight to decaf. It gets easier and get used to it.
I phoned my doctor pretty quickly and then also filled in my application/notification form to my chosen local maternity support, I had the choice of two hospitals, so filled in with the one I wanted. A few days later I got a call and they booked me in for booking app. You might not need to wait for the doctors to sort, mighty be able to self refer.

Elspethelf · 21/08/2020 09:45

Hi guys! Congratulations to all the expecting mums!! I got my BFP this week and an online calculator has my DD as April 19th and 5 + 5. 1st baby, 7th cycle TTC, I am 38 and a bit nervous about the extra risks I've read about. So far my symptoms are crying over everything, sore boobs, occasional mild cramping and exhaustion. DH and I have decided not to share the news until after week 12 so I'm excited to share the journey with y'all.

Tiff94 · 21/08/2020 11:42

Welcome all the new BFPs so happy to have you join our group. How is everyone today?
For the first time this week I've almost made it to lunch without throwing up. Fingers crossed I can make it the day xx

@leopardlover @coffeeandtheriver thank you!! They seem quite bad, especially after I've walked up the stairs 🤷🏼‍♀️ I actually haven't really had caffeine since March time so I'm quite happy with my decaff aha

OneStepOneStumble · 21/08/2020 12:42

Ach today I've been having a bit of spotting, cramping and (tmi sorry) diarrhoea. So now I'm panicking and overthinking everything. This is so stressful!

easterbuns1 · 21/08/2020 14:37

@Coffeeandtheriver I phoned this week when i reached 6 weeks and have booking appointment with mw at 9 weeks, that was the first one available and we can self refer here, don't need to see gp. I did wonder if it would be over the phone as a lot of appointments are here but it's at the surgery.

Sexnotgender · 21/08/2020 15:49

Just had my booking appointment. That’s it until the 12 week scan now.

KLM31 · 21/08/2020 22:37

Hi everyone, plucking up the courage to say hello 👋 got my BFP on Tuesday after a few months ttc, took all of the crampy pains and sore boob signs as incoming AF so was very pleasantly surprised to get positives on multiple tests!! First baby, EDD 26th April and feeling reassured to read through everyone’s experiences 😊 spoken to midwife today after handing in a self referral form at the GP, arranged a telephone consultation with midwife in week 8, currently 4+4ish I think!

Sexnotgender · 22/08/2020 04:16

Welcome @KLM31!

Why am I awake?! Urgh, cannot get back to sleep 😫

KLM31 · 22/08/2020 07:10

Thanks @Sexnotgender! I know the feeling...I'm exhausted all day but seem to be wide awake really early every morning! Is lying in a thing of the past already?! 😴

Busybee143 · 22/08/2020 07:49

@KLM31 I'm the same, only awake in the morning then it's downhill from there 😂

KLM31 · 22/08/2020 07:55

@Busybee143 I had napped during the afternoon a few times this week so thought if I stopped that my actual sleep might improve, it didn't, I think I should go back to the afternoon nap 😂

Nichelette · 22/08/2020 08:20

@Coffeeandtheriver I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and usually drink loads of coffee but have completely gone off it. Sods law because we have so much to use up. DH had better get drinking it... My sense of smell is crazy now too.

Am still waiting to hear from someone after self referring. I got the acknowledgement so I know they have it, I'm expecting to be waiting ages though. This is first time so I'm a bit edgy and want some reassurance really. Also want to be able to tell work but I don't want to until I know all is okay.

Busybee143 · 22/08/2020 09:07

@KLM31 I love an afternoon nap when my lo will let me 😂

Welliedays · 22/08/2020 10:17

I would love afternoon naps but can't with work unfortunately

KLM31 · 22/08/2020 11:18

I'm making the most of school holidays before going back to work in September!

Busybee143 · 22/08/2020 12:27

@KLM31 snap!!!

Coffeeandtheriver · 22/08/2020 13:56

Thanks all - it's really helpful to hear when and how you have contacted your doctor/midwife services. It sounds like waiting times can vary a lot. I've decided to wait until I reach 6 weeks and will get things moving then - thanks for mentioning self referral as this seems to be available in my area too.

@Milliemoo222 @Nichelette it's good to know that it gets easier with the caffeine withdrawals, whether through habit or complete aversion! I've started 1 morning coffee and a decaf tea later in the day so that should hopefully keep me going.

I hope everyone is feeling okay with their symptoms this weekend. Xx

tikha · 22/08/2020 14:15

@Coffeeandtheriver @Nichelette have gone off the smell of coffee as well and can smell on DH when he is enjoying his morning coffee
@KLM31 i put in a self referral week and half ago and yet to hear back. GP is managing my thyroid meds. Maybe I should call the back since am over 6 weeks now. J
