Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

That's nice for your husband to be able to feel kicks, I'm really looking forward to getting to that stage, hopefully only a few more weeks to go!

I like the look of the side by side buggies more as you can see both babies, but that might be because I've never really pushed a buggy so I don't have much of a sense how annoying the extra width will be. I like the look of the out n about nipper double which has amazing reviews online or the mountain buggy duet. I'm sure it will be super expensive either way, the nipper double is only £400 for the buggy but once you've got all the accessories I'm sure it will be over £1,000.

My mum is trying to persuade me to get slings, and I can see they would be amazing for one baby but I just worry with two I will always need someone else there!

Lemongrass1 · 01/11/2020 08:56

Hi all so thought I’d check in to let you know that both twins still there at scan on Fri. The haematoma is still there but not huge. Looks like the smaller twin has somehow caught up and both measuring almost bang on dates now (bigger one is one day ahead). I haven’t had the gushing again (fingers crossed) but still passing small amounts of old brown blood. They will scan me once more time before 12 week scan and the twin clinic takes over.

@RosettaR glad to hear that your little twin is still growing and the Covid test was negative. What a lot of stress!

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/11/2020 11:50

@Lemongrass1 so glad scan went went well.

I hope once I get to the 12 week mark I will be able to relax. I can’t relax at all in this pregnancy. I just want to enjoy it but can’t.

ivfbeenbusy · 01/11/2020 13:36

@Lemongrass1

Great news! How many weeks are you now?

RosettaR · 02/11/2020 13:56

@Lemongrass1 I'm so glad you got good news at your scan! It still must be scary to have the bleeding but at least you know why. How many weeks are you now?

@thefishthatcouldwish I feel like there is very little chance of me being able to enjoy this pregnancy. I mean I'm still really glad to be pregnant and I love seeing them on the scans and seeing my bump grow. But there are just so many risks especially with identical twins. Even with a straightforward pregnancy I think it's normal to find it quite an anxious time unfortunately.

Lemongrass1 · 03/11/2020 18:41

@ivfbeenbusy @RosettaR I’m 9+2 today!

@RosettaR totally get the not relaxing. They said with the bleeding in early pregnancy I might be at (even) higher risk of preterm delivery. So I will be holding my breath for whole pregnancy I think ☹️

ivfbeenbusy · 03/11/2020 19:13

I feel a bit more "relaxed" now I've made it to 24 weeks - I won't ever be pregnant again so trying to enjoy every second of this pregnancy but easier said than done. I think I'll feel a bit better after my next scan at 26 weeks so long as my little twin has had consistent growth in the last month

RosettaR · 07/11/2020 12:55

@Lemongrass1 I can see the fear of preterm delivery utterly ruining my Christmas this year! Because of the growth issue I think they will likely deliver at 34 weeks, I've just got to pray I make it that far!

@ivfbeenbusy my pram shopping has been scuppered by lockdown now, the showroom I wanted to go to is closed! I wondered if you might have some shopping advice... How important is it for carrycot to be OK for overnight sleep? I'm wondering how we'll go anywhere with them overnight, it feels like it will be impossible without getting a trailer for ! And what are you planning to do about cots, will they share or have their own?

ivfbeenbusy · 07/11/2020 18:17

@RosettaR

I think I'll be looking at 34 weeks too - they were saying no later than 36+6 I think which would be first week of February but I think it will get moved earlier now

So with the pram situation - I don't use the pram carry cots as an overnight Moses basket - you need a stand for them anyway - although as my pram is a silver cross one you can buy a stand for the carry cot bit to sit it when not attached to the pram - but the stand is £95 each!! And Moses baskets are pretty cheap - I've ordered mine from ASDA about £40 each including the stand.

I have a Chico next to me crib with a drop down side I used for DD at night (about £150 I think) - I don't like the idea of using Moses baskets at night as they seem flimsy to me and I have fat cats which would knock it over 🤣. Also having the drop down side is like doing co sleeping without the risk and I found it easier to breastfeed with her being right there. With the twins the plan is to have a cot in our room and the twins will share the cot until they start to annoy each other and we'll alternate with the Chico depending on who is up next for feeding or needs settling the most.

The Chico folds down into a bag and we used that for DD when we went overnight anywhere. Bear in mind only suitable whilst they cant roll - so about 6 months. once they start rolling you'll need a travel cot. To be honest travel cots are generally a good size so you'd probably fit both twins in one for a good while.

Whenever we went overnight though the pram and carry Cots as they don't fold pretty much wipe out the boot so it is a bit of a struggle to get everything in! We used to leave a travel cot at my parents so didn't have to hump one around

In the twins bedroom I've got 2 cots from IKEA - think they are called the Gulliver ones - with DD I got a cot bed but just going for cots this time as smaller and as DD was a terrible sleeper in the end I put her in a single bed so I could get in with her rather than sleep on the floor! The Gulliver ones have a fully removable side for when they are older (not many cots do) so should last them a good few years

ivfbeenbusy · 07/11/2020 18:22

Here's what we have

BFP through IVF. Thread to calm the nerves!
ivfbeenbusy · 07/11/2020 18:28

I forgot- we ordered one of these instead of a Moses basket - this one is foldable which is the name of the game in our house as we just dont have space! So we'll use this as the second Moses basket and then we ll reuse DDs wicker one with a stand

RosettaR · 07/11/2020 22:47

@ivfdreaming that is a lot of info, thanks! I'm thinking we will get a a cot with drop down sides for next to the bed like you say, and another cot for day sleeping downstairs, for as long as they can share. Then once they are too big to share both cots will go into a separate room, I'm hoping they will be close to six months by then. Anywhere we are going to stay overnight will need to have a cot, or like you say we can buy cheap foldable Moses basket things. So I'll get the cheaper pram without the overnight friendly carrycots, probably an out n about. My cousin recommended sleepyhead things too because apparently babies sleep better in them, but it's a bit confusing whether they're safe for overnight. They do look nice though so I'll quite possible get them anyway.

Then my mum is trying to persuade me to get slings but I'm not too sure, with one baby I'd be 100% sold on a sling, but with two it won't work unless I've got someone with me who also wants to wear a baby.

It's nice thinking about shopping for them, helps distract me from the scans and the worry, and focus on them as actual babies!

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/11/2020 06:17

@RosettaR Not that you should do anything that makes you uncomfortable but you can get twin slings.

Not sure where from but saw a Facebook friend of mine with one.

ivftake1 · 08/11/2020 07:52

Morning, new over here..

Got my bfp this morning after IVF for a sibling for my son (natural!)

Excited but nervous too

ivfbeenbusy · 08/11/2020 12:41

@ivftake1

Welcome and congratulations!

ivfbeenbusy · 08/11/2020 12:42

@thefishthatcouldwish

I had a look at twin slings but I'm only 5ft2 and I don't think I'd feel stable carrying 2 babies!!

ivftake1 · 08/11/2020 12:53

When my son was a baby I couldn't even manage carry him, let alone two!

Parkandride · 09/11/2020 13:19

Welcome! Early ivf pregnancy is so nerve-wracking, I found it got a lot better after scans. Any symptoms or are you feeling ok?

16 weeks over here, keen for kicks and a bump! Got a midwife call tomorrow then not too long until the 20 week scan, hoping the nerves don't come back too much before that. Darent shop for anything until then

MorgenMuffel · 10/11/2020 21:51

Hi all, fell off this thread but glad to have found you all again! How is everyone!

I'm almost 27 weeks, huge and feeling lots of movements (as is DH when he is patient enough). Almost starting to feel real now!

Got consultant appt tomorrow and then anaesthetist appt on thurs to discuss birth options as I can't have an epidural. Feeling pretty anxious.

Are people still working as per usual or WFH? I am still commuting to Central London and current occ health advice is that I continue to until I go on mat leave. Worried if I am going to be able to continue to manage it tbh!

ivfbeenbusy · 10/11/2020 22:14

@MorgenMuffel

Wondered where you had gone! 🤣

I'm working from home but so I just entire company so no special measures just because I'm pregnant. I'm huge too - I look full term and pretty much been on sofa rest since 18 weeks

With my DD I commuted up and down the country until about 32 weeks abs then worked from home the last 7 weeks - up to about 2 days before my c section

Rollerboots · 10/11/2020 22:27

I was exactly the same as you, my 2 little embryos are now a 7 year old boy and a 4 year old little girl.
Very best of luck, you have done the hard bit getting to this point.

MorgenMuffel · 11/11/2020 16:51

@ivfbeenbusy sadly I can't WFH aside from the odd day to do management /HR stuff. Are both your twins doing ok?

Consultant appt went well and can increase my medication a bit which is good as I am really not sleeping. Always a balance to know what is best for baby as although they say my beds are safe they also say take the lowest amount possible.

ivfbeenbusy · 11/11/2020 18:58

@MorgenMuffel

Twins are doing well I think! Although one twin is much smaller and is causing lots of stress - I have a scan next week to check on them when I'll be 26 weeks and expecting to have my due date bought forward again x

RosettaR · 12/11/2020 18:43

@thefishthatcouldwish @ivfbeenbusy I think carrying two would be a bit much! It doesn't look like you'd really be able to use your hands, plus anywhere you went you'd also have to carry all the baby stuff ...

@ivftake1 congratulations!

@Parkandride I can't complain about the bump but I'm 20 weeks and still not feeling any movements. I keep being told that's normal but I should start feeling them in the next four weeks. I'm getting impatient!

@MorgenMuffel I'm really lucky and able to work from home, and so is DH. Commuting while pregnant must be hard.

My twins seem to be doing well, the little one has caught up a bit and is now on the 13th percentile - he was on the 3rd a few weeks ago. So I'm really relieved! On the other hand I've been told my placenta is covering my cervix, and I have to avoid a number of things including travelling for over an hour. Not much of a problem in lockdown but if it's lifted for Christmas that could make life difficult.

@ivfdreaming good luck with your next scan, I hope your little twin is growing well.

Mctm123 · 12/11/2020 18:59

Hi all, another Ivf pregnancy here. 7 weeks today. Been dealing with secondary infertility for 5 years and gone through miscarriages all Ivf so this is a much wanted baby. Had a little scare already with lots of bleeding but scan has showed all is well so far 🤞

I wonder if I’ll ever be able to relax...the second I don’t have as many symptoms I start to worry but I think I’m just comparing this pregnancy to my successful one 5 years ago...I was so sick with that one and even ended up in hospital with it at 8 weeks so this one feels different.

Congratulations to everyone on here😊
