Updating mine too!

Glad all ok at scan @knotemma thats fab news! I also had a terrible nights sleep, just lay there wide awake with all sorts bubbling in my head.

Feeling tired and sad today, due date from my MC is a month away and its getting to me a bit, find myself having a small cry every night when I go to bed which is not like me. Think I will be pleased just to get it out the way.

Knotemma · 19/08/2020 12:18

@Whiffle77 anniversaries are so hard, especially the first one. Sorry that you're struggling, be kind to yourself and take the time you need x

Avocuddles · 19/08/2020 14:52

@Whiffle77 anniversaries are so tough. This time last year I was pregnant for the second time, nervous and excited at the same time and hoping for the best. Unfortunately that only lasted a few more weeks however I'm trying to focus on the fact that come that difficult first week in September I'll be 36 weeks pregnant. I don't think any of us will ever forget the babies we lost, but I hope that in time those dates and 'if only' milestones will get easier... be kind to yourself and don't feel bad about crying, it's a difficult time but things will get better.

@Knotemma glad all went well at your scan. Had a letter through this morning which mentioned that I need to think about whether I want to commit to induction at term. I think I'll probably ask if I can have a sweep (if necessary) first and then maybe an induction just after 40 weeks so we're on a very similar countdown!

@MOGMOGMOG85 your bump looks gorgeous! I'm glad you've finally had a risk assessment and feel more supported now.
I'm not sure if I've ever had BH - bump does sometimes feel a bit tighter but had put it down to baby moving, I'm not sure if everyone gets them so I guess I might just be one of those who doesn't experience any contractions until the 'real thing'....

@SammiLou2312 it sounds like our second group baby could be on their way very soon! Glad your appointment went well, it's exciting that baby is engaged and that the baby diet has suited you well!

@AnxiousLady1 like @SammiLou2312 I've had more swelling over the past few weeks, especially when it's been hot out. Feet up and drinking plenty of water definitely helps.

TunnocksTcake · 19/08/2020 15:21

So lovely to see positive scans and gorgeous bumps 💕 all looking fabulous!

I hope all is going well @Rachael321 and can't wait to hear an update from you. Will be thinking of you.

@MOGMOGMOG85 well done for standing up for yourself, it is absolutely shocking your boss didn't do a relevant risk assessment for you. Glad you have seen slight improvements and are only doing what you feel comfortable with

@Avocuddles I think I will have to make a decision re induction too, I don't really want one as the only reason for mine would be bump measuring big, which I don't feel is enough of a reason to rush her out. My bump is huge but it's all out front which I think is probably skewing the measurements a bit anyway. On the other hand getting her here safe and sound ASAP is very tempting! I have my next appt on Monday so will see what midwife says then.

Whiffle77 · 19/08/2020 15:55

Thanks @Knotemma @Avocuddles I knew it would be tough but I guess I just didn't think I would still feel this sad! There's obviously all sorts of conflicting feelings with being pregnant as well, but like you @Avocuddles I will try and take comfort in being 28 weeks by the time it comes around...

@AnxiousLady1 I had super fat ankles and feet last week when it was hot, but they have died down loads now thank goodness! I think its normal in the summer time but I think its worth keeping an eye on/flagging up to midwife if you are worried.

Whiffle77 · 19/08/2020 15:56

P.s. its so exciting to read so many of you ladies talking so seriously about birth plans! It won't be long now at all for a lot of you

SammiLou2312 · 19/08/2020 16:41

So happy to see so many updates from everyone!

I've just had a call from the hospital and have an induction date of 3rd September! Eeeeek! Baby will be here in a couple of weeks 🥰🥰🥰 they have decided to induce me at 38 weeks due to babies size and my diabetes, unfortunately I'm still having issues controlling it and have to start on insulin between now and then but at least I know baby will be coming in two weeks! So exciting but also terrifying x

Hope you are all doing well x

Knotemma · 19/08/2020 17:10

@SammiLou2312 that's so soon! Amazing news though having a date planned. Not ideal that your having issues with the GD, but at least you only have to have the insulin for a short time. I've been for my midwifes appointment this afternoon and we've got a plan to talk birth plans properly at my next appointment. I've also been to my aunt's as she has kept loads of my nephew's stuff for our goblin, so I have a spare carseat and pushchair for the grandparents to use as well as some more clothes and some gorgeous knitted stuff... I'm already starting to worry about where the heck I'm going to put all this stuff 🙈😂

AnxiousLady1 · 19/08/2020 17:14

@Sammilou2312 That's super exciting!!

I was reading earlier about how to spin baby in breach position. Don't think I fancy hanging upside down off the couch just yet 🙈 I haven't thought too much about birth plan or induction yet. I made my DH watch a video with me yesterday on Hypnobirthing so he could be a little more informed if I lose my mind and all capacity to advocate for myself.

Thanks to everyone for the advice on the ankles. They seem okay today so perhaps worst in the evenings. I'm still drinking a lot of water and will focus on rubbing in some foot and ankle balm (or getting DH to do it for me) in the evenings. I'm definitely noticing this week that I'm getting more uncomfortable around tummy area and in lower back.

Have many of you done much exercise (other than walking)? I've started Pregnancy Yoga so feel a little more proactive that way but I'm soooooo lazy and struggle to motivate myself after a day spent working on a computer 🙈

footprintsintheslow · 19/08/2020 18:32

Thanks for all the well wishes I feel positive about tomorrow's scan and good luck @JuniperAndRose. It's not till 3:30 annoyingly so I'll have to keep myself busy before hand.

@SammiLou2312 great that baby girl has fully engaged. Sounds like she knows what's what!

@MOGMOGMOG85 glad your having a better time at work but shame here hasn't been made to suffer a bit!

@Knotemma I was up at 4 starving, so annoying isn't it. Do you mind me asking your age? Just thinking how they are letting you go over and I'm not sure what the plan is with me yet and I'm a long way off thinking about it. But I'm 40 and they are more keen not to let me go over.

Whiffle77 · 19/08/2020 18:35

Oooh @SammiLou2312 thats not long at all! How exciting! 💞

I've been back exercising since about week 14 @AnxiousLady1 - I usually work out a lot to help my anxiety so I was really keen to keep going during pregnancy to make sure my mental health didn't take a big dive. I just felt too knackered to do it until week 14 is! I was a bit chunky pre pregnancy even with the workouts but like I say its more for my brain than my body. I'm keen to try and keep as strong as possible during pregnancy too. That being said, some weeks I fail miserably!! And some weeks I do loads, but its right to listen to what your body needs so i don't beat myself up about it. I try and do it in the mornings as there's no way I can be bothered after work any more. I think it helps with the insomnia too. I used to do yoga too before I was pregnant, so im not sure why I've stopped! Have you found any good ones to do?

footprintsintheslow · 19/08/2020 18:36

@Whiffle77 this is a podcast that I found helpful (although her voice was a little grating at first). It's about being pregnant after a loss. It features a woman who lost her daughter so not everyone may want to listen but I enjoyed crying along to her story.

www.birthful.com/podcastrainbow/

Whiffle77 · 19/08/2020 18:37

Thanks @footprintsintheslow I really appreciate it, I will give it a go. A good cry always helps 💞

AnxiousLady1 · 19/08/2020 19:13

@Whiffle77 That's great that you're managing to keep so active!! I'm such a lazy person when it comes to gym etc. Never could warm to it, much as I tried repeatedly. So I find I'm struggling with it in pregnancy, despite knowing I need to make myself exercise more to make my body strong. The yoga classes I'm doing are with a local yoga studio, but all the classes are currently online using Zoom. So I can do it from comfort of my living room. They are pregnancy yoga classes so the movements take into account bump etc, and there is some mindfulness in there that encourages you to connect to baby.

Rachael321 · 19/08/2020 19:32

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies... I'm still pregnant!!!
Have been waiting to go to labour ward since 7am as Dr said they could break my waters... they broke themselves at about lunchtime, still waiting for space on labour ward!!

Haven't caught up properly, hope everyone is well

Knotemma · 19/08/2020 19:51

@footprintsintheslow almost 34, the midwife has said they can offer a stretch and sweep at 39 and 40 weeks if I want them, not sure at this moment if that's something I would want to go for. I think that they're happy for me to go over because this has in reality been a totally uncomplicated pregnancy. Other than sickness, which was extreme for a time and is still ongoing, were both looking very healthy, my blood pressure is in line with what it was pre-pregnacy etc. So they're comfortable to just let things progress, which I'm very thankful for.

@AnxiousLady1 I've been walking 5 km at least twice a week (at a gentle ish pace... Mum tends to forget I'm not as fast as I was!) I also went swimming for the first time on Sunday and that was great, very organized and I felt brilliant for it. I'm actually going to book to go again in the morning. I totally fell out with yoga this pregnancy, because I just can't bend forward (stupid reflux and sickness)

@Rachael321 fingers crossed for some progress for you soon, hopefully you're at least comfortable and they're taking good care of you x

AnxiousLady1 · 19/08/2020 20:12

@Rachael321 I can't believe you're still waiting for a space 🙈Hope you're still comfortable. Have they let your OH in to you yet??

@Knotemma I get the bending forward struggles. My reflux was so bad in my last class I thought I might vom on myself the whole way through. Wasn't quite the mindful experience I wanted that day 🙈🙈

Rachael321 · 19/08/2020 21:00

@AnxiousLady1 he's allowed in for 1hr per day at an allocated time which is rubbish, especially given the antenatal ward is empty!
@Knotemma everyone been lovely and full of apologies im still waiting and trying their best to keep me comfy, including a 5am bath this morning, pushing back the time i was monitored ever so slightly so I could eat lunch, getting night-shift dr to examine me this morning so i didn't need to wait for them doing morning rounds (not that its made any difference now though!)

SammiLou2312 · 19/08/2020 21:06

@Rachael321 can't believe you are still waiting bless ya...hopefully you will get a space soon. It really sucks that your OH can't be with you all the time...in dreading that for my induction in a couple weeks. Wishing you all the luck that you get to meet your baby soon xx

Avocuddles · 20/08/2020 08:51

@Rachael321 hope things are progressing this morning after your frustrating long wait - hoping today is the day!

@SammiLou2312 wow not long at all until your date, very exciting (and nerve wracking too of course).

Had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday. Mentioned my indecision re whether to plan an induction or not and have booked in a stretch and sweep with her at 39 +4 with a view to giving that a go and having the induction booked for around a week later in case things haven't progressed of their own accord. Will still need to wait and see what my consultant says but I think it suddenly all felt a bit more real now we're actively talking about the baby arriving....
The midwife also thinks that baby is already fully (or almost fully) engaged so hopefully she'll stay that way. Probably explains why it has been feeling a lot more uncomfortable when I go for a walk!

@Knotemma @AnxiousLady1 I did a few pregnancy yoga videos earlier on but feel like all flexibility has gone now! I have however tried to keep as mobile as possible with a daily walk of at least 40 minutes and a longer one at the weekend - we've been good at sticking to this and only missed a few days in total due to dire weather.

Thinking of you today @Rachael321 hope you are doing ok...hope everyone else.is having a good day too x

tmc14 · 20/08/2020 11:01

@Rachael321 Ah, sorry you’ve had delays! Really hope you get to crack on today. Hope you’ve managed to get some sleep x

@AnxiousLady1 I have swollen ankles often, but also swollen hands. I remember I did towards the end with my son as well, there were days where I looked like the Michelin man :-D I think that’s just what happens to me, rather than there being an issue. I got told the same, so long as first thing in the morning I was ok, it wasn’t really seen as a problem. Hmmm, I’ve been quite rubbish with exercise this pregnancy. I do pilates once a week, and am fairly active, but not much formal exercise. I was doing PE with Jo on YouTube every weekday at the start of lockdown, but gave that up after a few weeks. I should do more but the heat has made me lazy!

@SammiLou2312 Ah, sorry the GD is causing issues, but exciting you have a date booked in.

@MOGMOGMOG85 Pleased your boss’ boss is doing something, although it sounds like the bare minimum! As you’re leaving and not returning, I’d be the same, just plough through doing what you’re comfortable with. Disappointing they’re not doing anything about your boss though as he sounds awful. I also get a lot of BH, I think when I’m being fairly active, then when I sit for a break they go away. Can get quite uncomfortable!

@knotemma Glad you had a good scan! And glad you had a good midwife appointment @avocuddles All very exciting!

@Whiffle77 Sending a hug to you, I felt really weird about my baby’s due date. I didn’t really know what to do. I think having a cry is really healthy. You should definitely have a good wallow whenever you need, I think it helps process the emotions.

I had my private scan today… placenta is definitely low, although she couldn’t tell me how much of my cervix was covered as it wasn’t an internal scan. There is a chance it will still move, but at 32.5 weeks it is getting less likely, my next scan is in two weeks when they’ll make a call about whether I need a section. So, while I’m hoping it moves, I think I’m accepting that I’m more likely to have a section early. Luckily baby girl has moved head down (she was transverse), which I think makes the section more straightforward, so some good news! Just under two weeks until the next scan, but could potentially only be 4.5 weeks until she arrives! Seems very very soon...

AnxiousLady1 · 20/08/2020 11:46

Anyone else lost weight in the later stages? I've been weighing myself each week for the last few months and have consistently been gaining a little each week. I noted today however that I've lost a pound in the last week. Diet hasn't changed and haven't been unwell. Pinged a message to my MW to see if it's anything I need to be concerned about. My hospital don't check weight or measure bump at appointments as they feel its more reliable to just do a growth scan at 36 weeks. So If I wasn't tracking it myself I wouldn't even be aware...

SammiLou2312 · 20/08/2020 12:19

@AnxiousLady1 baby is using a lot of calories at this point, plus your body will be working harder to support you and baby, so it may just be that. With regards to being weighed by medical professionals, I was only weighed at 12 weeks and my last appointment at almost 36 weeks as they wanted to make sure they had updated measurements on the system for when I deliver. Overall I have only put on 2lb during the entire pregnancy so it looks like I've lost weight as baby has gained it (given she is estimated to be around 7lb now and then I have waters etc on top) but I was overweight to start with so they are happy with it. I'm sure midwife will come back to you but I wouldn't worry too much as long as you are still eating and feeling ok x

tmc14 · 20/08/2020 12:27

@AnxiousLady1 I don't weigh myself at the moment so I don't know, but I hadn't gained much by 20 weeks. I think, unless you were very underweight to start with, and you feel well, and are eating ok, it wouldn't be a problem. If it was potentially a worry then they would weigh you at appointments. I was only weighed at my booking in, and that was so they can generate the personalised growth charts. x
