Okay I'm still super nervous but time to take the plunge and started a Grad bus for the recent BFPs from the main thread. According to NHS calculator I'm due 18th March and it's #1 for me 😬

@Mococo1 next scan is booked for the 21st, although OH said last night 'maybe we should make it 2 more scans before 12weeks' so may do the 19th and then the 2nd 😂 how are you feeling? x

@Cocoblue22 who did you get your scan from? With my place the early scan is £80 but you can get a 'babydate' well-being scan after 8weeks and it's only £45 (think it's because they are sure they won't need to do a transvaginal one) x

@Bl0ndi3 look after yourself lovely, I had a MMC in March and it is so truly sad, just give yourself time to feel however you want after it. There is a really fantastic thread on here 'TTC after MC' which I joined the day of my surgery and it gave me so much support when trying afterwards if you want to join x

@samilicious 8weeks now 😬

@Ltay2 glad that telling mum was nice, and you feel you have somebody else there for support ☺️ just another heads up as I started panicking when my RHR started to drop but apparently this happens around 6weeks (I actually moved my scan forward because of this but all was good) x

@blodyn91 ahh so glad that you have come across ☺️ at my hospital I could just self-refer so I didn't speak to my GP at all, have you picked a hospital? I've not told any family and probably won't for ages but I don't see them much so I'm not that bothered 🙈

@2020mission yay to you being over here aswell 🙌🏾

@Amy00 this is fantastic news on both the house and the job, congrats for both 🥳 definitely going to be a weekend of celebrating x

Just had my bloods done apparently I have great veins 😂

@2020mission Still waiting for the delivery but will defo let you know! It said between 12:30 and 14:30 so hopefully soon!

@SmileyT Ahh thank you for that heads up I definitely would have panicked too! Good veins are a bonus 😂

Ltay2 · 08/08/2020 13:32

Feeling reassured for today ☺️

blodyn91 · 08/08/2020 13:34

@SmileyT not sure I get to pick a hospital....there is only one 😂 but its pretty good. Just googled the maternity ward and it says to call this number no need to call GP. So will do that on Monday.
So do you see anybody for bloods etc before 12 week scan? Don't think we will get an early scan unless I start feeling like I need one, although hope OH can come to that, if not we will definitely be getting one. I have like zero symptoms 🙈 boobs are bigger and slightly sore so cant sleep on my belly, but thats about it (suppose it is early days)
Just looked through my work contract and zero info on maternity, so will have to look at the intranet

Bl0ndi3 · 08/08/2020 13:48

@SmileyT @Cocoblue22 @samilicious thank you ladies.

I want to say I'm feeling better but I'm not - although a friend/neighbour stopped to talk to me before and asked me how I was as I had told her about the MC and managed to have the conversation about it without crying... progress!? 😂

I have gnarly bruises on both arms from the bloods which are serving as an unwelcome reminder so I'll be glad when they go and when i've had the negative test so it's officially behind me, physically.

I've joined a couple of TTC after MC threads but I'm not entirely sure I'll follow along with them just yet. I have a group of friends I met on here last year when I started TTC and we have a WhatsApp group, I only came back to mumsnet when I was pregnant so I wasn't always going on about it to them as I felt bad.

Ordered some cheap OPKs because I think I just wanna get back on it immediately so fingers crossed 🌈🤞🏻 I will save my clearblue digi OPK for after my first AF x

Hope everybody is okay ♥️

samilicious · 08/08/2020 14:35

@Bl0ndi3 definitely progress! Cry all you need to though, let it all out. No one can judge you for crying after what you've been through. Talking to others who'd been through the same is the best thing that helped me, hope the groups help you too

@SmileyT big time jealous of your juicy veins! mine are like pencil lines in my arm, always takes forever to get bloods. Weren't always like that and fine on my legs etc

SmileyT · 08/08/2020 14:53

@Ltay2 haha as you can probably tell from my tales I've had a few wobbles in the last 4weeks (feels like months) so I'll just keep trying to point out any pot holes so you can avoid them 😂 and yay for the weeks digital 🙌🏾 how did the cleaning go? X

@blodyn91 oh fair, around me in London there are so many but just ended up with the closest anyway. Yeah just get yourself referred then you'll have a booking appt normally between 8-10weeks but depends on hospital policy and then your 12week 'dating' scan. At my hospital they still aren't letting partners in for any scans so you may want to get one down the line just so OH can see baby as think it's nice for them to see them moving rather than just scan pics, but obviously do whatever works best for you and you could do that after 12weeks when there is more to see. And yeah my maternity policy was in HR section on our internal intranet took a bit of digging but found it (and it's shit 😂) x

@Bl0ndi3 glad you have so much support, sending you lots of love x

SmileyT · 08/08/2020 14:55

@samilicious haha I've only ever had blood taken about 3 times in my life so was a bit scared but was like 30seconds for the 3 tubes 🙌🏾 the things I get happy about these days 😂

OP posts:
samilicious · 08/08/2020 15:09

@SmileyT I would be so excited if that was me 😂 I can only dream of it taking 30 secs. Even looked online to see if there's a way to 'train' veins to get bigger - swear they weren't this bad when I was younger!

Ltay2 · 08/08/2020 15:15

@SmileyT It does actually feel like so long ago you got your BFP 😂 the cleaning went well it's taken me pretty much from 9am until now as I kept sitting down getting distracted but I guess it's better to take it slow! I'm now about to have a nap, I'm extremely tired today think it's catching up with me. Next task is to wash my hair, don't think I can face drying and straightening in this heat though. Couldn't face the ironing either 😩

2020mission · 08/08/2020 16:09

@Bl0ndi3 so sorry that you've went through this, it's just so unfair. Definitely get back trying if you feel up for it 💕 I'm sure it won't take long for you to get your next BFP.

@SmileyT I've never had blood taken before so I'm in for a shock whenever I get my first appointment 😂 if it's only 30 seconds though I'm sure it will be fine. Is the initial appointment pretty quick? Hope you're feeling more confident in your pregnancy now that you've had a scan! Is it ok for me to ask how far along you reached in March?

Madz123 · 08/08/2020 17:11

How is everyone? 😊 Sorry if this has been talked about before but is anyone else going to have to have their booking in appointment over the phone instead of in person? Found out that's my local hospitals policy 🙄 I just would have liked to actually see someone. Only the scans (obvs) are in person until 28 weeks and partners aren't allowed to either 😕

Ltay2 · 08/08/2020 17:20

@Madz123 I think all hospitals are doing that at the moment with the booking appointment. Mine said that the majority of it would be done over the phone and then would just need to go in for a quick face to face appointment to have bloods and urine test done so there would be chance to ask any face to face questions there I imagine! I'm feeling more positive today after my CB test. Was just reading up about folic acid and whether I need to take an increased level as thought my BMI was classed as 'obese' (over 30) but checked my BMI and I am JUST under 30 now at 29.6 so whilst still not great I am now only 'overweight' so that's good, means my healthy eating is doing some good.

Madz123 · 08/08/2020 17:30

@Ltay2 thanks for the reply! I think my hospital do any tests at the same time as the scan to limit contact so guessing I won't see anyone till around 12 weeks 🤷‍♀️ and that's good about sticking to healthy eating and losing weight! I've never been good at staying on track with eating healthily 😂

So we've been thinking of booking a private scan but our only opportunity (without having to tell family yet due to childcare issues) is in a few weeks - my apps say I'll be 7 weeks but due to tracking cycles I now I'll only be around 6w 2days, is this potentially too early for a scan? I'm so worried about not seeing a heart beat and panicking!

SmileyT · 08/08/2020 17:42

@samilicious love that you googled it 😂

@Ltay2 After I got back from the hospital I put my bedding on to wash and then just watched married at first sight Australia so I think you are doing well. First 4-6weeks after that BFP are supposed to be the worst for fatigue so definitely get your naps in when you can x

@2020mission yeah my first time was only about a year ago, I thought I'd be squeamish but actually I was fine, I just don't look when they put it in. The phone part of booking was about 25minutes but I'm pretty boring so I just answered no to all health questions apart from have you had chicken pox 😂, then they ask about living/work situation and give you some phone numbers, then go in to hospital just for height, weight, bloods and urine, I guess it would take longer if you had questions or any previous birth/ health issues. In March I'd had a scan at 7w4 and saw the HB and they said when MMC was confirmed at just under 10weeks that pregnancy had stopped progressing a few days after my scan. So yes I feel better having had a scan but I know that doesn't confirm that everything will continue progressing, so I'm being optimistic but will still be nervous for next scan x

@Madz123 yeah I think booking appts are all on the phone because of COVID, my 16week appt is on the phone aswell, which is a bit sad because I think they normally check HB at the 16w. I'm not sure if it'll be different in your hospital but I had to go in for bloods/urine and had a chance to talk to a MW there but tbh I didn't really have anything to ask this early as they cover all the basics. I know a few hospitals have started allowing partners to scans but mine hasn't, so we'll just double up with private scans x

OP posts:
Cocoblue22 · 08/08/2020 18:26

@SmileyT mine is from window to the womb and it's £79 for an early scan. How are you feeling now? Jealous of your great veins mine are rubbish! Midwife called today saying one of my samples was rejected so I have to have my bloods done again doh something about them not labelling it right grrr x

@Ltay2 great progression! Glad you feel reassured x

@Bl0ndi3 you are so strong for not crying when telling your neighbour. And of course you don't feel better yet it will take time it's a devastating thing to go through x

@Madz123 I had mine over the phone last week and then just went in for bloods and to get weighed 😬 I think it's because it's an hour of questions and it would be uncomfortable to sit with a mask on for that long realistically especially in this heat!

@Ltay2 Hate to break it to you but they round BMI up so yes they will say you're obese this is what I got told on Thursday 😭 mines 29.2 im size 12/14 and now considered obese not happy x

Does anyone else have a toddler that they have to wrestle with? I'm so scared of harming little bean picking him up. I'm also feeling really stressed and worried that will impact little bean too not having a great day today x

Ltay2 · 08/08/2020 18:28

@SmileyT I managed to have an hour nap so feeling slightly better 🙌🏼 I've just put fresh bedding on too, definitely a challenge when the upstairs of my house is like a sauna right now 😂 I just hope I don't develop any sickness as well!

We are seeing OH parents for the first time since finding out tomorrow, going to be so hard for him not to tell them I think! Although he is happy to wait until we have our private 9/10wk scan so we have something to give them to make it more exciting.

Ltay2 · 08/08/2020 18:30

@Cocoblue22 Oh really that's rubbish!! Oh well I guess in terms of BMI for them medically wise there's not a lot of difference between 29 and 30, but we can still be happy for our progress though 🥳

SmileyT · 08/08/2020 19:02

@Cocoblue22 ahh I'm sorry you are feeling a bit 💩 today, I'm sure it's just a bad day and with a toddler you have got so much on your plate so give yourself a break. I obviously can't give any personal advice on having a toddler but I'm sure it's fine as so many women do it, just take it easy on yourself and remember you can only do your best ❤️ and yeah window to the womb is a bit annoying as pricing changes based on location, my local one is £49 for a reassurance scan but some other places are £79 😤

@Ltay2 my bedding is still hanging outside 😩 ahh they'll be so excited when you are ready to tell them and I'm sure the month will fly by x

@Amy00 congrats on the new job and house! Well deserved and perfect timing

@blodyn91 omg!! Haven't been on the main thread as been trying to keep away from mn for a bit but I am soooo happy for you❤️ I'm so glad this month worked out for you and OH and how adorable to have a little one at the weddding!

@2020mission congratulations! Welcome to the thread

@SmileyT honestly I'm still a nervous wreck, not as bad as before but the closer it gets the worst I'm getting! I will know in a few days if the pregnancy is still progressing- still here with my zero symptoms but DH has said my boobs are massive, I'm a tad bit hungrier than normal (but probs just being fat🤣) and I'm still getting early pregnancy discharge so who knows!

If all is well I will get a scan or two before 12weeks as well! - just depends if they book me on the earlier or later side of 12w x

Madz123 · 08/08/2020 19:47

@Cocoblue22 how olds your toddler? Mines nearly 3 and although most of the time he remembers he needs to be careful, he does jump on me a lot and also wriggle around while I'm trying to hold him/put him in the car etc- so I get a bit worried too!

blodyn91 · 08/08/2020 23:00

@Mococo1 thanks 😁 I think it was the 'its not going to happen now' mentality that worked, like everyone says. Its going to be hectic next year.

So today we had a birthday bbq for OH from 4pm! I managed to make myself fake gins all night, strawberries, mint leaves and ribena to make it look like pink gin. Nobody asked a thing! I even knocked my glass over so they all thought I was pissed, and joined in with the singing 🤣🤣
All planning a big night out end of August- that will be hard to dodge!
HR rocketed at my bike race today so not going to race race again. Ill just race for the social side of it and not be bothered about timing.

Thanks all about the appointment info. Ive never had bloods taken, given blood once and I fainted since I have low blood pressure 🙈 so dont think its going to be fun

Skip86 · 09/08/2020 06:47

Oh my gosh I can't believe you are all such blood sucking novices! With my medical conditions I average about once a month and have done since I was 12, so that works out at over 250 times! Haha nothing to be proud of though I guess 😜
My top tips would be: hydrate well if possible beforehand so your veins are more likely to be lovely and plump, and if you think you will have trouble ask for a butterfly needle, which is smaller and takes a little longer to draw the blood into the vile, but easy to get into the vein so there's none of the horrible poking about.

@blodyn91 well done on the faux gins! Sounds like you had a great night!!

@Madz123 and @Mococo1 I have a 4 and 2yo, so have recently been through the worries of toddler + pregnancy. One day at the beach I was lying on my back on a towel and my then 2yo literally launched himself on my tummy (I must've been about 20 wks). I was concerned and asked my OB about it - she said in her 25 years of work had never come across a toddler doing damage to a pregnancy with their own body (ie from pushing mum's tummy, or mum lifting them up etc etc).
She did say she had a patient once who's toddler accidentally hit her by swinging an object (cricket bat maybe) and it caused something to happen but I can't remember what..

I think it is sensible to be cautious and explain to older siblings that they need to be careful of mum etc, but your body is an exceptional vessel well evolved for growing a baby, and it would take a lot more than playing with and lifting toddlers to do damage in an otherwise healthy pregnancy xx

I have begun to realise this post sounds really full of myself and self righteous 🙈 sorry, just hoping to relay some of my preggo and mothering wisdom. I always always think in all situations in life go with what is best and most comfortable for YOU 💗

mrsmummy1111 · 09/08/2020 07:25

@Skip86 Wow 250 times! You're an absolute pro by now! I give blood every 3 months (when not pregnant or bf) so the needle part doesn't bother me. Although I do always turn my head away so I don't have to look at them putting it in....does anyone else do that?! I don't mind them doing it but definitely don't wanna watch it!

Truthfully your post doesn't come across as self righteous in any way. It's just sharing experiences and reassurances, which I think we all need every now and then. I've got a 15 month old and you'll often find him hanging off my earlobes. He has a lovely habit of using me as his personal climbing frame whenever so suffice to say I've had a knee/foot/elbow to the stomach on multiple occasions so far. DH has told me to be careful and keep him away from my tummy but common sense dictates that a healthy pregnancy is going to have to withstand a lot more than a toddler jab, so it's so reassuring to know that HCP have reiterated that to you as well.

So this is #3 for you then? How old will your other two be when baby is born? How are you feeling about 3 so close together? We have always wanted a big family (we think 4, but let's see how this one goes first!!) but I've said to DH I'd want them close together. As in realistically, 2 years apart (3 years max) as otherwise I think once I'm completely out of the baby stage, it'll be too difficult to go back into it. If we let all of ours past babyhood I think that'll be it for us. So curious to know what others thoughts are on it! Is 4 close together just utter madness?

Hope you're all keeping cool. I woke in the night thinking someone had accidentally put me into the pizza ovens

samilicious · 09/08/2020 07:47

@Skip86 not self righteous at all! Good to share this info. I used to give blood every few months/as often as I could up to the age of 21, then it just kind of stopped flowing and I nearly passed out trying in the village hall 😂 worst part was that mum was watching laughing at me

@SmileyT I'm going to google it again, get vein training for my booking in tests 💪🏻 😅

I'm proper freaking out at the moment. Can't stop having dreams about bleeding. Taking my BBT every morning to reassure me as if dropped really low (like a whole degree) last time, which confirmed my MC to me. Hate finding out so early this time, even longer to wait at 4+2 today 🙈 the days are literally crawling by. Got some CB weeks indicators coming today, hope they help a bit
