Okay I'm still super nervous but time to take the plunge and started a Grad bus for the recent BFPs from the main thread. According to NHS calculator I'm due 18th March and it's #1 for me 😬

@mrsmummy1111 Thanks for the reassurance.

@Cocoblue22 wish you all the best x

@SmileyT I guess it really is just an old wives tale.

I've promised to stay away from Google a bit more. I was reading all sorts last night and regrettably made a thread on it. I had all sorts of people mistake my curiosity as something else. I feel so much safer in this thread lol. I think I'll hang out here more instead :)

Just a quick update: I didn't get the hospital i initially wanted (which is okay - it's rated outstanding but I'm out of the catchment area). I did get another hospital that's more local. Even though, it isn't my first choice, I had a quick chat with the midwife who was super nice that I already feel at ease.

Oh and if there is anyone else that struggles with anxious thoughts from time to time, I'l use Byron Katie's four questions to help settle the nerves:

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can you absolutely know that it's true?
  3. How do you react when you believe that thought?
  4. Who would you be without that thought?

On another note, has anyone started talking to their belly yet? lol.

Mococo1 · 29/07/2020 12:51

@zippityzip 🤣🤣 me too! I'm not even crossing that line or making any comments to my kids il try not to be overbearing at all!

My MIL has tried to be open with me but I get so embarrassed as it's her son! some of her comments even make me wonder if she realises there are other positions than missionary- she's so old school 🤣

@FairyLights2 thanks for those question they defo feel like they would help me! Nope not talking to belly yet as I feel like I'm just talking to rolls of fat atm maybe once I've seen a heartbeat il play some Mozart and feel more comfy enough to have convos x

SmileyT · 29/07/2020 13:20

Those MIL stories really crack me up, my DP has a strained relationship with his mum, like she actually drives him insane, especially when she turns up at our door with a random rug she's picked up from ikea because 'it's perfect for us' 😂 and I find it hilarious because she is so different to mine.

@Bl0ndi3 tbh when I am anxious half the time I have no idea what it's about, and not something I consciously feel, just get symptoms that make me think something in my subconscious is bothering me. I think early pregnancy is a stressful time for most so I'd be surprised if there isn't a little anxiety in there for us all x

@FairyLights2 I'm so curious what your thread was about now? 🤔 love those 4 questions ❤️ and it's weird definitely no talking to my belly, DP would do it loads last time I was pregnant (that I MC) but think we are both a little cautious of getting too attached this time, which is super sad x

Just having a catch up....

Scan went well this morning we could see little bean and now know that there is only one in there and that it is in the correct place. The sonographer said the heart beat was really strong so that's good. She measured and said I'm more like 6+4 not 7+1 (which I suspected because I think I ovulated CD18/19 not CD14 like the EDD is based on the middle day of the cycle so some of you might find the same. That would move my DD back to 20th March but she did say it may be different again at dating scan so don't worry about it too much. It was lovely to see little bean (I recently learnt that embryos do divide at different rates). Then we went out for lunch afterwards :)

Hope you ladies are all having a good day! Who's next for a scan? Is it you @SmileyT? X

zippityzip · 29/07/2020 15:34

@Cocoblue22 So glad it went well!!!!

FairyLights2 · 29/07/2020 15:52

@Mococo1 so happy you found the questions helpful! They've helped me tremendously :)

@SmileyT Glad you also found them useful ❤️ Ah, I asked if anyone has gone through a pregnancy without an ultrasound after reading that some women opt for that. I was just curious and wasn't expecting such strong responses. People were making all types of assumptions about my beliefs lol. You can tell I'm new to Mumsnet and haven't posted in forums for a while. I'm all about keeping my peace, so I just left the thread.

@Cocoblue22 so happy it went well for you!X

Cocoblue22 · 29/07/2020 15:58

@Bl0ndi3 that's probably due to your blood volume increasing your heart has to work harder and did you know in pregnancy your heart actually grows larger it also turns on its side later on as your uterus pushes all your organs up hence heartburn in later pregnancy! Random fact for you there! X

Another random fact your lips will appear darker as more blood goes to them and your cheeks look more flushed this is an evolutionary thing that scientists suspect is to make you more attractive to your mate so he sticks around 🤣 x

@zippityzip haha when you posted that I was sat waiting and trying not to pee myself my bladder was so full! They said it was great though and saw little bean no probs with an external scan so didn't need an internal after all! So ladies drink loads and don't pee before hand it's worth it haha! X

@zippityzip your mil sounds delightful! I wouldn't be able to hold back if she said something like that to me! I'd be like a dragon haha x

@SmileyT awww it's cute that your mum will be so excited....let her be excited because one day it will be you that's the excited grandma and she will deffo want to fuss over you you're her baby after all and trust me it will be a good thing when she's fussing and helping you out when your exhausted. Let her 'pop over' and help out. Our mums did so much for me when I was Pg and in those first weeks after the birth and still do now and they have a lovely bond with DS which makes me so happy and they are so delighted that I let them be a big part of his life and it's great for us when we want a baby sitter or need a rest or if we are ill etc I'm so grateful for them and all they do for us x

@mrsmummy1111 yep totally ignore that woman....there is absolutely no place for anyone to have any opinion on when you should TTC some people baffle me! X

Gosh ladies reading your stories I feel so lucky my mil is a gem, she's so lovely to me and is just so happy that I've given them a grandchild she will be delighted to hear they are getting another one soon! She always does as I ask and respects my wishes where DS is concerned so I do feel very lucky that we get on so well x

To the no sex comments I'd just take the smile and nod approach and we all know it's absolutely fine and safe to have sex just maybe do it a bit more gently haha x

Also my new dating being four days behind makes sense a bit more why my 3+ appeared later than I hoped x

SmileyT · 29/07/2020 16:06

@FairyLights2 yeah MN is definitely the place to get extreme reactions to even the most minor things. If you want a good chuckle I like to read the AIBU posts where the poster normally loses their mind if anyone dares tell them they are unreasonable 😂 stay with us, we're a nice normal bunch x

@Cocoblue22 ahh glad you got to see little bean, it's so tiny around the 6week mark but still so special 🥰 half way to that 12week scan. My scan isn't until next Friday so not sure if anyone has one before then 🤔 xx

OP posts:
SmileyT · 29/07/2020 16:26

@Cocoblue22 yes will definitely be accepting help when baby is here but beforehand DP can sort things out, he does all the cooking, cleaning, shopping, DIY etc already and loves it so wouldn't want my mum to take over any of that from him as he weirdly loves it. But me and DP have already decided that our parents will probably handle childcare when I go back to work, my parents have 3 grandchildren and they all have their own bed and wardrobes at my parents house. She would love if she could change another of my dads office spaces into a girls room ☺️ they normally have my youngest nephews about once a week, my brothers eldest is 18 (my bro had him at 17 👀) and he actually lives with my parents now, so they'd all love one more to add to the clan 😂 I feel like I sound harsh, my parents are great but can just be a bit intense and not my fave people to be around if I'm feeling anxious 🙈

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 16:55

@Cocoblue22 so glad the scan went well 🥰🥰🥰. I ovulate around cd18/19 usually too so I reckon I won't be exact from LMP either! I'm either 6+1 or 5+4 haha x

I'm not sure what it is as I have had the same feeling today not when lying down or trying to sleep like last two nights. Perhaps a bit of anxiety I feel better when I do some deep breaths.

I am spending the evening planning my pregnancy bullet journal which I am hoping will arrive by the weekend so I can start setting it up 🥰 hopefully that will relax me and keep me occupied!

zippityzip · 29/07/2020 17:08

Well, I just threw up by the side of the road. Had to get out of my car down a side road and yak like an absolute tramp 😭
I'm so embarrassed.

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 17:08

@zippityzip awwww 🥺🥺 that made me sad for you feeling embarrassed

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 17:09

But yak like an absolute tramp
Made me LOL @zippityzip

Mococo1 · 29/07/2020 17:48

@zippityzip that made me laugh (sorry)! It's the tramp bit which you most definitely are not, please done be embarrassed ♥️

@cocoblue22 so glad the scan went amazingly for you and you saw little bean and a heart beat. I think I ovulate CD18 too but as they saw a yolk sac yday I reckon I may have ovulated a bit earlier this cycle !

Hurray we have some success - I took an IC and line is darker than control still no other symptoms tho 👀 . Also I referred the other night and have already gotten my first MW appointment letter on a Saturday at 8AM 😩 @9weeks so much for a lie in

@SmileyT I think you are next for a scan!

@Bl0ndi3 what's a pregnancy bullet journal!? X

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 18:11

@Mococo1
A bullet journal is basically a blank notebook usually with a dot grid instead of lines in it and you basically design it into whatever kind of journal you want. I've added a couple pics of my personal bullet journal so you see what I mean.

For a pregnancy one I'm going to dedicate all the pages to pregnancy, tracking everything, logging everything, putting pictures in it and so on so it's a keepsake when it's complete 🥰

@zippityzip please don't judge me but I've definitely vommed on many a street corner and I definitely wasn't pregnant at the time 🙈

@Bl0ndi3 you are so creative and fabulous, I'm even jealous of your to do list, it's so aesthetically pleasing ☺️ bet doing your bullet journal will be so calming, please share snippets with us when you start it xx

@Mococo1 exciting you've got the letter through though, I might call them tomorrow as still haven't received a letter from them after referring on the 12th July 🙄

mrsmummy1111 · 29/07/2020 19:33

@Bl0ndi3 do you like biscoff by any chance?? 🤪

mrsmummy1111 · 29/07/2020 19:37

Omg @zippityzip !!! You poor cow. How are you feeling now?
Don't be embarrassed, you're pregnant!! If that's not an excuse I don't know what is. Zero judgment on the roadside vom, I've also had my fair share of "just pull over here for a second pls driver" moments at 4am when I was in my 20s, and I had absolutely no excuse other than being a ridiculous lightweight.

Boy am I glad those days are over. Some of my friends still go on crazy nights out with their husbands when the grandparents babysit and it makes me and DH seem like such old farts. When the grandparents babysit for us, we're back from dinner at 9pm then we lay in bed together watching a series and we're asleep by 10 🤣🤣🤣

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 19:43

@mrsmummy1111 😂😂😂😂😂 yes what gave it away, admittedly I ate a third of a jar of biscoff spread the other night, shameful!!!

but the baking wasn't for me my OH is a firefighter 🔥 and the guys on his watch insist that I bake for them every week and give me ideas haha one week it was "biscoff" so they were my ideas. Not that I wouldn't and don't indulge in a taste of whatever I bake for them! X

SmileyT · 29/07/2020 19:47

@Bl0ndi3 I feel like you need one of these casual 1.6kg tubs, OH got it on amazon for like £6 it's currently lasted me since March 😂

@SmileyT oh god! There's a biscoff sauce you can't get too and I'm amazed I've not ordered it haha!

I avoid it because I would literally just down it in one evening hahaha

Cocoblue22 · 29/07/2020 20:12

@SmileyT you don't sound harsh sometimes the closest people to us that we love the most also annoy us it's normal haha! Your OH sounds perfect going to name him mr perfect from now on! I can't really complain either mine is pretty good and does a lot apart from cooking he can't cook except for he does make nice cheese on toast 🤣 x

@zippityzip oh no to the puking! Hope you felt better afterwards! At least you managed to get out of your car first! X

@Mococo1 yay for the dye stealing preg test I'm sure you'll see your little beans heart beat on your next scan in two weeks! X

@Bl0ndi3 you have beautiful writing it's like a work of art! X

I haven't tried any of this biscoff stuff I've had the biscuits that come with coffees in restaurants but that's it! X

Bl0ndi3 · 29/07/2020 20:19

@Cocoblue22 @SmileyT thank you both

My journal arrives tomorrow just got notification from Royal Mail! I am so excited to start it 🥰

Mococo1 · 29/07/2020 23:38

@Bl0ndi3 so much talent! Seems so fun to make

I tell you ladies biscoff cheesecake is amazing 😍

Bl0ndi3 · 30/07/2020 00:26
