Thanks @chubbyhotchoc that’s my plan too but nice to hear that confirmed from an experienced mum!

confused107 · 18/07/2020 08:16

Thanks for all the vest baby grow chat. I have no idea what to buy. Was eyeing up snowsuits but don't think I'm going to bother now

@chubbyhotchoc I'm thinking exactly the same as you. Just baby grows and an outfit for Xmas day. Also considering a 'colour theme' so everything can be put in the wash together. Don't think I'm going to bother buying outfits (though it will be a struggle to restrain myself when I go into shops) as I imagine we will be gifted more than we need when she arrives

I'm out for a meal tonight for my birthday, and just realised that I can't wear my normal tights anymore. Anyone got any suggestions where I can pick up maternity tights today? Thinking of trying Asda

PipTed · 18/07/2020 08:38

The little outfits are SO tempting!!! But you can beat a snuggly baby in a sleepsuit 🥰

chubbyhotchoc · 18/07/2020 08:39

Oh and I'll probably get at least two packs of these type baby bundlers. They're a godsend at night time because doing poppers up in the wee hours is no joke. They're long so cover their feet and elasticated so you can bunch them up to keep the cold out.

How is everyone doing with sleeping and avoiding sleeping on their back? I’m getting pains in my hips when I sleep on my side too often (not as bad with my pillow) but wake up flat on my back sometimes and panic.

Also, I know it’s gross, but anyone else really gassy? 🙈

Hanrora06 · 18/07/2020 08:41

@confused107 I’ve definitely seen some on H&M online, but if not Asda maybe Sainsbury’s as they seem to have a lot of maternity stuff online at least?

Thanks everyone for the clothes info!! I’m going to write some of it down into my spreadsheet haha then I can figure out exactly what basics I’m going to need!

PipTed · 18/07/2020 08:44

@Hanrora06 a spreadsheet is very organised!!! What other things do you have on there?

chubbyhotchoc · 18/07/2020 08:47

@PipTed I get a pillow under my hip which helps a bit. Yes to the gassiness. I didn't want to
Lower the tone here but the night before last I farted in the night and woke myself and dh up Confused and even more embarrassing when I got up after my whooping cough jab a small parp escaped. Really hoping the nurse didn't notice.

Hanrora06 · 18/07/2020 08:48

@PipTed I am waking up every now and then on my back which is strange as I never usually sleep on my back...or not that I ever noticed, I guess I’d have no reason to before! I wouldn’t worry, they say it’s fine so long as you turn over and fall asleep on your side. I do wonder how much of a difference left/right side makes though, I know left side is recommended but I find right side more comfortable!

And yes haha I have noticed I am a little more gassy than usual! Fair enough I suppose If all my organs are being gradually squished and moved out of the way. Moved into 18 weeks today, apparently baby is now mango sized! What fruit is everyone else?

I also now am pretty sure I have sciatica . No idea what to do about that! It’s weird, it doesn’t hurt all the time, just every now and then, but the worst is always when I finish brushing my teeth and lean over the put the brush away I get stabbing in my left bum cheek!!! I thought it might have gone by now but apparently not. I’m studying from home so obviously sat at my desk chair a lot...think I need some special pillows!

peachypetite · 18/07/2020 08:48

Just bought these from Asda! Scratch mitts integrated. I’ve been using my pregnancy pillow which is definitely helping.

@PipTed haha well organisation is not at all my strong suit so I have to make deliberate effort or I’ll get nothing done lol. Or I’ll end up buying everything and being overwhelmed! Bit of everything is in there, so far spent most time researching prams and travel systems, tbh it’s in its very early days I just have it there ready for when I move and start seriously considering buying, but I have sections ready for cots, baths, cloth nappies, and miscellaneous like muslins and stuff.

danielasummer · 18/07/2020 09:28

@PipTed I'm struggling with sleep as I'm normally a back sleeper. I just started a thread actually and have had some good advice - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3971050-help-20-weeks-pregnant-keep-waking-up-on-my-back - so I purchased another pregnancy pillow but this one wraps around my whole body when I sleep, inhibiting me from rolling onto my back (fingers crossed) - so will let you know how it goes. I purchased this one - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0828WWC2T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

And yes to gassiness! I have had this since 6 weeks pregnant and it hasn't subsided one bit!

@chubbyhotchoc these are so cute, would you just put baby in a vest/short sleeved baby grow underneath them for bedtime? Sorry if that sounds stupid.. FTM and literally no clue what to buy. My mum kindly bought baby about 10 baby grows the other day 0-3 months but then I thought they were too cute for sleeping in, so I think I need to do some online shopping!

@Hanrora06 oh wow, you've definitely inspired me to start a spreadsheet so that's what I'll be working on today.. us mums-to-be are wild aren't we haha! Also, I'll be 20 weeks on Wednesday, baby is currently the size of a mango or large heirloom tomato :)

Missworry92 · 18/07/2020 09:31

Any of you ladies started getting leg cramps at night? I've had it 3 times now and I literally jump out of bed it's that bad! Anyone has any tips? 😂

peachypetite · 18/07/2020 09:43

@Hanrora06 I love a spreadsheet too, I am going to make one for the baby purchases today as well! @danielasummer packs of these may be food for nighttime

Bettie2192 · 18/07/2020 09:43

@Missworry92 ooh yes I had them all last weekend in my right leg, early Saturday morning was especially bad, woke up in agony. They haven’t come on again since, although my right leg does feel a bit funny and tight sometimes

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 09:58

@PipTed yes I only use long sleeve vests with leggings/footed trousers for babies mostly. Its exactly the same as putting them in a sleep-suit/baby grow but can sometimes be easier to change by just being able to wip off the trousers. Other wise with vests that go under the sleep-suit I always use the sleeveless ones, or the cap sleeve ones. To be honest the sleeveless ones are brilliant and a good extra layer of needed without being to hot. You can get some fab kimono style sleeveless vests, they are the brill!

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 10:00

@PipTed I don't mean I ONLY dress them in trousers and long sleeve vests, I use baby grows all the time too! I meant I don't layer long sleeve vests under anything except a cardigan, the house is so cosy during the day with central heating during the winter months they don't need it either, and at night they are totally snuggled with their sleeping bags and / blankets

nearlyamummyof2boys · 18/07/2020 10:03

I was overwhelmed with clothing situation when we had our DS but I feel you just figure it out along the way.
Anything with integrated scratch mitts are a blessing from heaven 🥰
I agree with @ChampooPapi about keeping the room cool and baby layered up.
I found just a babygro on its own perfect at night in a sleep bag.
Our baby was always quite hot though - I found vests under rompers the easiest way right at the beginning and didn't do tops and bottoms for a little bit as just so much easier to change when poo/sick explosions lol! (Although always nice little outfits for the MIL)
I loved pram suits and snow suits for taking the baby out in just so easier to throw over what they are already wearing and felt like extra padding in pram in winter! I loved this one from George for £11

Lovely scan @Awkes

I agree with the gassiness too - especially with iron tablets!

I finally have a scan booked for Tuesday - so happy 😀

nearlyamummyof2boys · 18/07/2020 10:05

@ChampooPapi I also loved the footed trousers and a vest they looked so comfy in them! You can get lovely sets as well with matching bibs etc.

I just meant proper little outfits - I waited a while to those.

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 10:06

@chubbyhotchoc yes those bundlers are great, they are a million times more useful then a snow suit. I think unless there is ACTUAL snow and they are going to be in a sling then the snow suits are completely useless. I brought 3 last time around, just padded ones, velour type things, and never used on once.

Jojomaman bebe do the BEST integrated scratch mit sleeves on their sleep-suits. You could easily pick up 4/5 second hand ones from eBay for about twenty pounds. Especially in the smaller sizes as they are worn a handful of times, I've always found they arrive pretty much immaculate and after a wash yourself no one would ever know you hadn't just walked into the shop and brought them new.

@danielasummer ahh mango babies! see I don't understand the fruit stuff haha how can I be 18 weeks and you 19 but us both be mangoes. I'll have to look up an heirloom tomato! 🤣 I do get the fairly strong impression they make it up. And I'm still confused at times by what week I am. I'm today 18 weeks 0 days or in week 19... and I never know which websites class me as which week. However, I do still find it very entertaining and I look forward to Saturday mornings when my app changes week and I can read it out to my husband in bed!

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 10:09

@nearlyamummyof2boys hah yes, I don't think I did a 'proper' outfit until mine was nearly 18 months 😆 . Ok great news on your scan Tuesday, that's fab. Two weeks until my next one, they are all Tuesdays too so hopefully Tuesday is our lucky day of the week from here on 🥰

Morning ladies and congratulations to everyone! FlowersI hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread, I have been scrolling through and you all seem so supportive and lovely to one another. I was just wondering if anyone has been through what I am, as I am just worrying myself sick. I’m 20 weeks and 2 days I had my 20 week scan on Thursday she said everything looked fine with baby and organs when she checked, then at end when she put all the measurements in she said that baby’s head and abdomen was measuring small, on the 3rd centile so she booked me in for another scan for in 2 weeks time to check growth (during this she run out the room a couple times to talk to someone about it which worried me more), I then got a text message yesterday that I have an extra appointment this Tuesday, a foetal medicine appointment? has anyone had this and can reassure me that everything’s okay? I thought they would wait the 2 weeks first to see if baby has grown, this scan on Tuesday will only be 5 days apart so I doubt there will be any difference. I can’t stop googling and thinking the worst, sorry for the long post, I hope you all have a lovely weekend xx

peachypetite · 18/07/2020 10:17

@ChampooPapi I love the JoJo sleepsuits. They have a beautiful multicoloured star one but it’s out of stock. As is their yellow duck one. If anyone is having a girl how cute is the jemima one with matching hat?
www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/e4103.html

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 10:25

@peachypetite honestly I have about 20 jojomaman sleep-suits, all second hand from eBay. They washed so beautifully and I got them out to organize a month or so ago so I could put them in their proper size bags, the material is such good quality, really thick, they looked new still when I got them out, and they weren't even new to me. They honestly looked no different to the few my friend brought me from the actual website that were bundled in with them.

They are my staple sleep-suit combined with petit Bateau vests. I did buy my vests all new purly because their sales on multiple packs are so good and I love the cross body kimono style. The newborn size ones were so tiny when I got them out 🥰

I've brought a few things new from JoJo for my toddler as they wear the clothing for so much longer, I always get their rain suits new from them as they can really get a few years out of them. The duck one is particularly adorable
