Thanks @peachypetite much of my nursery inspiration comes from here! Definitely getting one of those shelving units for nappies ect above the changing table. We are in our forever home too and baby will be going in our little room (my former dressing room) until she needs a full sized bed then moving into a bigger room. Figure if I go for stickers rather than wallpaper as she gets older and has her own interests we can change her room quickly and cheaply. My DH and I can not wallpaper so always end up getting someone in to do it which is costly.

I notice Aldi has a baby and toddler event in next week (26th). Looks like nappies/wipes are going to be cheap. They also had a Moses basket with stand for £30 if anyone is after one. Think we are going to start stocking up on nappies ect so there is less expense when I'm on maternity and not earning much

peachypetite · 17/07/2020 06:26

@confused107 yep I agree and I’m not finding out the sex so need to stay neutral for now. But I want to get nursery done because know i won’t have the energy or time to be endlessly browsing cute ideas and online shopping once the baby is here! Aldi is great. Have heard from some friends though that took them a few different nappy brand attempts before finding ones that didn’t annoy baby’s skin! I have heard really good things about their nappies though.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 17/07/2020 08:10

@Pe4nutsmum how gorgeous is your scan!

@confused107 @peachypetite yeah I'm looking forward to that Aldi sale - they're nappies are really good. It took us ages to find good ones that don't irritate and stop the poo escaping lol.
I would say Aldi and Amazon are our top two! The Aldi newborns were very good.

We are starting to worry about having newborn sleeping downstairs and DS1 - we were thinking about a Moses basket on a stand but worry he will knock it over. We have a playroom downstairs so can put a gate on that but don't want him to have to be trapped in every time DS2 is asleep.

ChampooPapi · 17/07/2020 08:23

@peachypetite Aldi nappies are great! With out last when we were in Bristol we were just down the road from one and after initially ordering boxes of pampers from Amazon, we switched to Aldi nappies. They were a fraction of the price and exactly the same!

Morning All! Is anyone else going for cloth nappies? I’ve been doing a lot of research and have done the nappy lady quiz which was really helpful. My mum used them with us but it was very different back then! I’ve managed to persuade DH although he’s not so keen on reusable wipes for some reason! We’ll probably end up compromising on reusable wipes at home and disposable out and about.

I hope everyone is feeling good! X

MummyShark97 · 17/07/2020 09:51

@peachypetite I saw these really lovely watercolour dot stickers in lots of different colours, I just did a quick google search and lots came up. Stickers are a great idea.

MummyShark97 · 17/07/2020 09:55

I'm going for a split wall in pale blue and cream and white furniture... been saving plenty of ideas! Think this works for a boy or girl really even though we know we're welcoming a little boy!

@Teaandbiscuits123 hi, yes me! I'm going for cloth nappies, I'm yet to do the quiz though. Which ones did it recommend? I made an order on Cheeky Wipes this morning for reusable bum, hands and face wipes! x

excitednerves · 17/07/2020 10:27

Just had my scan. Baby looks perfect and she’s a girl (they think) Like a real lady she kept her legs crossed and knees together but all indications are “no boy bits”. Luckily as I’m high risk I have a few more scans so I’ll keep checking 😂

PipTed · 17/07/2020 10:31

H&M look to have their new season stuff in and the baby Clothes and nursery bits are sooo nice! I have like 20 items in my basket 🙈

peachypetite · 17/07/2020 11:09

Just to say we bought this ring from Sainsbury's for £13 obviously when baby is a bit bigger and I think it was our best baby buy so handy for baby to play in and really good sensory stuff on it.
We still use it now to keep all babies toys in! ❤️

@Teaandbiscuits123 - I'll be using cloth I've been ordering from eBay: a combination of Tots Bots newborn and little lamb size 1 the vast majority have arrived in really good condition (I will also sell on any that are still useable once I've done with them) -- I've also bought some cheeky wipes, but I will have some disposable wipes (and nappies) to hand for emergencies :)
My husband raised an eyebrow at reusables until I did two things: one was to show him the cost comparison of reusables over disposables across a couple of years, the other was to point out that it's actually way more disgusting to have a bag full of dirty nappies sitting outside that only get collected once a fortnight ;) He was then sold on the matter!
One of our friends who has a young baby was like ... 'but what do you do with the crap that's caked on...' -- he seemed surprised when I was just like, poke it down the toilet and attack it with a toilet brush? Apparently he'd imagined you had to scrape it into the bin.

In other news, thank you all for the cute puppy pictures the other day! I'm feeling much better now - evidently I just had a 'day' Blush

PipTed · 17/07/2020 12:45

@peachypetite hopefully these love rompers, sleepsuits and storage baskets. 🤑🤑🤑

All the goodies and decor inspiration are making me super aware that I don’t have much by way of ‘essentials’, though! Best start stock piling, as I return to work next month (after 4 months on furlough) and will not have the luxury of time on my hands!

ChampooPapi · 17/07/2020 12:50

@excitednerves oh brilliant news! 👣👣 And a little girl, I'm certain I guessed a girl for you too! What can I say, I'm gifted 😆. Did your partner get to join you?

@danielasummer yes I'm doing to reusable wipe thing 🙌, after two I've seen how much waste babies create, though I'm on the fence about re useable nappies with the twins for the first few months. Definitely going to use them post 6 months though. I'm foregoing cheeky wipes and ordering some organic waffle cotton fabric by the meter that my very talented and non working wealthy hippy mother in law is going to then cut and overlock the sides. So making our own (well she is anyway!).

I think nearly all babies born in the 80s or previously were coth Terry nappies. Pampers were nearly as expensive as they are now back then! And no supermarket cheaper brands ect. I think disposables we're kind of seen as the hight of luxury back then!

Ah I'm so jealous of everyone doing nurseries. Our house is on the market so no point doing one. Baby will have to go in a draw 🤣

Scotinportugal · 17/07/2020 14:34

@chubbyhotchoc I feel you on this one 🤣 we're currrently jumping through hoops for the bank to try and close on the house we want! So stressful in desperate to decorate a nursery too! Do you think you'll move before baby is here?

excitednerves · 17/07/2020 14:37

Thanks @ChampooPapi and @nearlyamummyof2boys I was convinced it was a bit so it was a bit of a surprise to hear that she’s a girl! They only gave 80% certainty due to her position, so its’s a cautious “she” at the moment. I’m really excited about all the girly clothes now!

@nearlyamummyof2boys I was VERY into Peter Rabbit for my little boy. It’s his favourite teddy now and I have taken a pic of him with it most months since we took him home from hospital. We also have books, clothes, cutlery, the lot! Ha ha!

@MummyShark97 I love that half painted wall! I’ve never seen that before but so lovely!

I want to get mountain stickers for my little boys room, like this

www.etsy.com/uk/listing/602385866/mountains-wall-decal-baby-room-decor?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=mountain+wall+stickers&ref=sr_gallery-1-3&organic_search_click=1&pro=1

chubbyhotchoc · 17/07/2020 14:42

@Scotinportugal I doubt it. I think we'll struggle to sell it. It's a beautiful house but the layout is very unusual so it's not going to have wide appeal. We might end up staying in which case we'll have to rejig all the kid's bedrooms to accommodate a nursery.

excitednerves · 17/07/2020 14:43

@confused107 I’ve just seen you post with the jungle stickers! I am in love! They’re gorgeous!

Hanrora06 · 17/07/2020 15:16

@Teaandbiscuits123 @EithneBlue I'm planning on cloth also! My friend uses them and she says now she wishes she'd been brave enough to use them from the start- apart from those first few days haha- and she's said if her baby is potty trained by the time mine comes along, I can have her old ones that are in a good condition which is so useful, though I will certainly be buying some of my own also. I'll buy a pack of disposable new born ones, just as my back up, but plan to use cloth the rest of the time. My husband was a bit like hmm (as I was in the start tbf) but he came round when I explained the process, and I definitely agree the idea of our wheelie bin full of dirty nappies for two weeks makes me feel a bit ill. I can't stand bin smell at the best of times!! Plus, I used period pants, cups, and all that kind of thing so I'm really trying to move away from the single use products- would make no sense if I did that for myself but not the baby! I'm going to do that nappy lady quiz!

We went to sign up for our new place today! We don't move until August but it's reassuring to know we're sorted. We didn't mention the baby...I wasn't sure what was the right thing to do, but my mum, sister and husband all said why would we if we don't have to, so I thought fair enough. I might tell him after the 20 week scan, or I might wait a little longer, not decided. We wouldn't be there much more than 6 months ideally anyway if we can buy something...

@PipTed H&M stuff is amazing....I'm realllly trying to resist not buying stuff right now but it's so gorgeous! You've chosen some beautiful things!
