@EithneBlue if buying second hand I’d definitely look on local groups etc so you can go and see it in person?
So far I like the mamas and papas Ocarro, I candy peach and bugaboo fox (travel systems)

chubbyhotchoc · 14/07/2020 09:39

@MrsSmith2020 unfortunately I'm
Going to be really reliant on my mum because I have a small daughter and someone needs to stay with her. No friends or family round here so mum is booking a week off before my due date to stay. Last time I had a really fast labour so we're trying to avoid me being here alone and having to take dd to hospital with me. Dh not keen on his mil staying but don't know what else we can do

EithneBlue · 14/07/2020 09:53

@PeachyPetite - Yeah I'm just watching at the moment to see what's out there: collection only items definitely sell cheaper so I'm filtering to within 50 miles on Ebay and also looking on FB/Gumtree. I'm not actually dead set on buying second hand - we can afford something new, but I'm just not sure I see the point in a brand new buggy... (as a life-long charity-shop lover I struggle to see the point in brand new most things - although we are about to bite the bullet and buy a brand new car, LOL) I also figure if I buy something on Ebay and I don't like it, I can always just sell it on. Really I need to get into a shop and try a few out - more so I know if there's any that I really don't like! I feel a bit better about that now that masks are compulsory so will probably go and have a play over the next couple of weeks :)

MrsSmith2020 · 14/07/2020 10:21

@chubbyhotchoc such a difficult situation- I'm sure she will understand that you want to buy your own outfit of your choosing- she might even forget as we've still got a way to go!

My mum knits, I'm looking forward to the array of bobble hats that inevitably will arrive!

RestorationInsanity · 14/07/2020 10:43

I have no idea when we're going to start thinking about the big purchases, car seat etc. DH has a spreadsheet and I think he's narrowed it down to what he wants so fine by me.

Suddenly got the feeling this morning that 20 weeks, possibly less isn't actually that far away!

peachypetite · 14/07/2020 10:53

One of my friends is due in Sept and ordered her pram a month ago, it still hasn’t been delivered Shock so probably good to factor that in too.

Pinktruffle · 14/07/2020 10:53

@firstbabybell DH and I have an appointment to look at prams tomorrow at a Pram World type place (might actually be Pram World). Most are doing 1 hour appointments and you are there alone with a consultant, not many are open to walk ins due to the fact that they are aware that most customers are in the vulnerable category. Check websites and see if you can book a slot

peachypetite · 14/07/2020 11:10

These projections of the winter Corona wave are terrifying! Hope it won’t be the case. Has anyone bought any cute baby clothes?

RestorationInsanity · 14/07/2020 11:12

@peachypetite my mum has bought a few bits of Morrison's Nutmeg range that are adorable. Not sure what your style is but they have a lot of neutral but lovely clothes (think I'm right that you're not finding out boy or girl either?)

ChampooPapi · 14/07/2020 11:13

@chubbyhotchocso Happy to see your scan update, she looks lovely 💜

@Snowwhite2020 and brilliant news that you had such a better experience this time and the scan was straight forward and just perfect 💞👣

@RestorationInsanity yep, team surprise! I bought these monochrome from very which are beautiful quality and came in two days: www.very.co.uk/v-by-very-baby-unisex-3-pack-animal-and-stripe-sleepsuits-blackwhite/1600446772.prd

danielasummer · 14/07/2020 11:23

@peachypetite @RestorationInsanity I'm not finding out either :) we'd like for my husband to tell me the sex.. although I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and I'm sure I'll be tempted to peek in that general area, I don't want to know but I'm desperate to know at the same time! Will stick to my guns though and keep it a surprise.

Feeling quite nervous about tomorrow now, especially as I've just called the maternity unit and they've said my husband can't come, even though I told them I'm terrified of scans (had a MMC last year). Tomorrow can't come soon enough so I can know for sure everything is ok.

For anyone looking for maternity bras, these ones from Amazon are amazing - they were recommended to me and I can 100% vouch for how comfy they are. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B081VHGLGR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Missworry92 · 14/07/2020 11:26

There's so many of these sets 😁 mamas and papas own brand one seems reasonable price and it felt really good quality and super light 😊

ChampooPapi · 14/07/2020 11:28

@danielasummer oh my god it's tomorrow! Amazing! I just can't believe we are at this point, it's surreal. It is an absolute head spin the week or two before though isn't it so I know how much you now just want it to be this time tomorrow and for all the checks to be done and to move forward again into the pregnancy. It's just not on really your partner and others partners on here are not aloud to attend the 20 week scan. It just doesn't make sense why down hospitals say it's fine and others are not on board with it. Just not ok really, it should be all or non to be honest shouldn't it?

Please update us with a photo when you can, exciting not to find out too 👣🥰

Most popular prams have delivery dates for October so I think we all need to start looking ladies if we look at new ones 😁

MummyShark97 · 14/07/2020 11:53

same here @danielasummer my host just rang to check in about the appt tomorrow and husband can't come.

trying to take an attitude of 'it is what it is' but it does feel pretty annoying.

with the no partner rule until "established labour" as well - what does that actually mean? Just trying to figure out how long I might be on my own.

MummyShark97 · 14/07/2020 12:08

should say hosp* not host haha

RestorationInsanity · 14/07/2020 12:17

@MummyShark97 I wonder this too. If I decide to opt for the maternity unit instead of a home birth the advice is to stay at home until contractions are every 3 mins, lasting 1 min, so I would guess that constitutes established labour? I'm guessing the rule will largely apply to people being induced, because the seem.to tell everyone not to go to hospital for as long as possible anyway?

peachypetite · 14/07/2020 12:19

I found this online which probably applies to all?www.nuh.nhs.uk/nuh-maternity-covid19-faqs

RestorationInsanity · 14/07/2020 12:21

Thanks @Missworry92! I think I've just shocked DH a bit telling him that 😂 hopefully after the scan on Friday we can go full steam ahead!

MummyShark97 · 14/07/2020 12:45

ah okay @peachypetite @RestorationInsanity so it does seem pretty much the same as when you should be going to the hospital anyway so no real difference and as you say may only really apply to someone who is induced. I'm super grouchy today think everything is just bothering me hahah!

Kpm7 · 14/07/2020 12:49

Thanks u for the warm welcome girls. Xx

@peachypetite @RestorationInsanity I am team surprise too.

I have found it difficult to buy baby grows that are neutral. 0-3.
I have tried
Matalan
Morrison’s
Tesco
Asda
Sainsbury’s
M & S
Mothercare

My sister said try primark but the cues seem a bit ridiculous at the moment.
I may have to order online. I would love to know any ideas you have.

I haven’t yet been pram shopping. I’m excited for all this. Is anyone having a baby shower xx

kkr168 · 14/07/2020 13:13

I had my scan today, all went well, the scan photos she printed are not great though.
We were told we're having a boy at our private scan which she couldn't confirm today because baby was not playing ball.

It's also worth looking into carseats asap, the one I want isn't available until September.
It's on offer at the moment with a free stroller, which I'll leave at my mum's house.
