I guess we just have a waiting game @chubbyhotchoc! It is nice to have someone else with a low placenta just to chat to, who is in the same position!

Snowwhite2020 · 13/07/2020 16:06

We had our 20 week scan today and all went really well 💖💙 Just magical to get such a close look at our little baby. I know it’s nerve wracking but try to enjoy it- it’s a much better and longer scan than the 12 week. Good luck to ladies with scans this week also. Lots of love xx

Snowwhite2020 · 13/07/2020 16:07

*we also had a much nicer sonographer this time than at the 12 week and that made all the difference to creating a happy and positive environment. Not that there much we can do about that... pot luck with that really! Xx

chubbyhotchoc · 13/07/2020 16:10

@peachypetite yes! We can hope together that it rights itself!

Kpm7 · 13/07/2020 20:20

New to this thread. Loads going on to catch up with everyone. But good look all. It’s lovely to see scans and bumps.

I have been really itchy recently @Babyhope98 it didn’t even cross my mind that it was related to pregnancy 😄. Feel better now actually knowing it is. I am 18+3 and assumed I was having a reaction to something. Xx

Not had any contact with midwife either. I had 1 call last week saying I should of been at an Antinatal appointment which I had never been told about. It must be tough for them with the restrictions and rules but I get the frustration of how everyone is feeling. As it’s my first baby I am unsure what appointments and stuff I would of had prior to Covid.
I bet they are also really busy as I can imagine there is a baby boom 😆. X

RestorationInsanity · 13/07/2020 21:16

Welcome @Kpm7! Such a lovely group here, I've found everyone's support invaluable.

I think baby just kicked downwards! It wasn't painful but felt like a kick inside towards my vagina 😂 does that happen?can't imagine that being fun when the baby gets bigger!

chubbyhotchoc · 13/07/2020 21:24

Oh Lordy. Am I being awful here? My mum has gone and bought baby an outfit and told me it's for coming home in. Lovely of her to buy things but I really wanted to pick my own outfit for coming home in.

MummyShark97 · 13/07/2020 21:30

@chubbyhotchoc no you're not. You don't even have to say anything about it either just put them in what you like!

RestorationInsanity · 13/07/2020 21:41

Absolutely not @chubbyhotchoc. It's totally up to you what baby wears. And if that first outfit is important to you (not surprising, it is to me too!) then you should choose it.

chubbyhotchoc · 13/07/2020 21:49

So awkward though. I love my mum and it's not like it's my first baby. I should be less fussy 😩

RestorationInsanity · 13/07/2020 21:52

Could you put baby in the outfit in the hospital and take a pic, then redress to actually take home?

RestorationInsanity · 13/07/2020 21:53

Or say that you'd like baby to wear that outfit the first time he/she meets your mum.

EithneBlue · 13/07/2020 21:54

@chubbyhotchoc - how tragic: baby pooped all over the outfit before home time and had to be changed... ;-)

chubbyhotchoc · 13/07/2020 22:01

@EithneBlue lol!

chubbyhotchoc · 13/07/2020 22:04

@RestorationInsanity trouble is she'll probably be either at the hospital or waiting at home. Only thing is it hasn't got a hood and doesn't look that warm. I really wanted something a bit warmer so I could say I thought it was a bit chilly.

Ah ok. Otherwise just blame pregnancy brain, say you forgot to pack it, look like you might cry and then all will be forgiven because you can't be mad at your daughter just after she's given birth!

MrsSmith2020 · 13/07/2020 23:23

@chubbyhotchoc Can you maybe say "hey mum I really love the outfit that you bought for baby, but we found another one that we fell in love with together. so we're going to bring our baby home in our outfit and then will take some pictures in your outfit, and then you can share those pictures with your friends when you tell them our happy news"

Also, as for being in the hospital or waiting at your house---> let me introduce you to my little friend he is called boundaries.....

(My family all want to wait at our house- we've said, if you pull a stunt like that we won't even tell you when we go into hospital)

It's so hard managing excited loved ones, but it is important to set boundaries. You're going to need your mum so much in those first few weeks- reassure her and let her know that you need her ready to be on call- but not adding pressure by being at the birthing unit or in your home, until you're ready xx

Missworry92 · 13/07/2020 23:41

Hi ladies, have any of you started looking at pram sets etc? I've been going through few shops today and just don't know which one to go for. Mamas and papas seemed quite nice quality and so did the egg pram but they are quite pricey and was wondering if many of you are thinking along these lines or do you think it's better to buy cheaper ones?

peachypetite · 14/07/2020 06:44

Honestly @chubbyhotchoc I’d just thank her and put it to one side for when baby is here and pack whatever you like for coming home!

firstbabybell · 14/07/2020 07:25

@peachypetite that's really useful - there's links to articles about other kit there too.

Think I'm going to suggest a trip to a "pram world" type place this weekend. Anxiety inducing in its own right but especially as it will be the first shop I've been in for 4 months!!!

peachypetite · 14/07/2020 07:34

Thjnk it’s a question of your lifestyle and what you want. I deffo want a travel system and one that folds down really easily!

confused107 · 14/07/2020 08:16

Thank you for the links @peachypetite there's a lot to think about!

EithneBlue · 14/07/2020 08:26

I keep watching buggies on Ebay to see how much they sell for second hand 😂 I still don't really know what I want from a buggy, but although we are upgrading our car this summer it will still be a small car and I know I don't want it to take the whole boot! Knowing my personality though I'll end up with something I didn't expect because I'll have bid on something that looks cute.

Meanwhile husband has been researching baby monitors ... turns out there are some very high tech options out there.
