Hi guys! Just found out were expecting. Very early but have no one else I can compare symptoms or questions with. Also thought it would be nice to follow pregnancies together. Expected due date should be the middle of March!

@Belle1983 Ahhh due date buddies 🥰 Definitely think it's normal, got to think all those changes physically and hormonally will lead to twinges and cramps, I've definitely not lost my appetite 😅 How exciting ❤️

Headingtowardsforty · 14/07/2020 18:25

@Belle1983 when we had our first I was so shocked to discover there actually was a baby at the dating scan I just spent the whole time staring at the screen going "it's a baby". Eventually my husband replied, "what were expecting? A dog!". This time I'm trying to trust my body and remember the signs are all there.

Belle1983 · 14/07/2020 18:40

It's very exciting @TiddleyWinks123.
I hardly dared dream this day would come.
Seperation at 32 and divorce at 35 after being with the same guy since 17...literally can't believe this is actually happening x

Belle1983 · 14/07/2020 18:42

I don't think I'll be able to believe it when I get the first glimpse of bump @Headingtowardsforty...I think it will be very surreal!

Helenknowsbest · 14/07/2020 18:43

@tiddleywinks123 yes all perfectly n9r

Helenknowsbest · 14/07/2020 18:45

@TiddleyWinks123 yes all perfectly normal to feel cramping. This can happen all through and sometimes worse at the end. Just that little baba getting really settled in - stretching your ligaments and uterus. Congratulations 👏

TiddleyWinks123 · 14/07/2020 19:22

@Helenknowsbest Thank you so much ❤️

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 14/07/2020 19:23

Hi all

Thoughts / opinions please - is anyone going to pay extra to do the early screening tests ( are they called the NPIT or Harmony test ?) ...... like everyone else the ‘dating scan’ isn’t until 12 weeks on the NHS and my understanding is then they just do routine tests, Which from there you decide whether you should have the more evasive tests at a later date - ( The NHS does not do the more accurate tests as above that private healthcare can offer Earlier on ?)

As an older mum to be I’m just wondering other people’s view .... ...I understand that I’m at much higher risk and would rather know sooner than later .

Thanks

hellymum21 · 14/07/2020 19:54

@Xx40yearsyoungxx I have been wondering this too as I've just turned 40, will be almost 41 by time baby due! Interested to hear what others think!

Sussexbysea · 14/07/2020 19:57

@Xx40yearsyoungxx hey! Not really thought about it yet. I thought the NHS tests were comprehensive?

Belle1983 · 14/07/2020 20:39

@Xx40yearsyoungxx I hadn't thought about it. I just assumed the NHS did all the tests needed.
I'm really hoping I get to speak to someone soon...I feel like there's so many things I don't even know I need to think about!

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 14/07/2020 20:40

@sussexbysea - my understanding is that the NHS initial tests are not as accurate as some of the Private ones. Both provide an indicator of whether you should have the more invasive tests but the Initial private one is way more accurate than the NHS one which they do later .
However I am new to this - and have no children so I’m not sure what exact ‘options’ we have.

Can anyone advise ?

lookingatthings · 14/07/2020 20:42

Can I join?! Got my BFP yesterday! Due 28th March, ten days after DS1 (16m). Didn't time that very well. But over the moon that its happened as I'm still breastfeeding so didn't think it would.

How's everyone feeling re covid? I booked in over the phone today but won't been seen until 9/10 weeks for bloods, and then again at 12 for dating scan. I feel oddly ok with this: with DS1 I felt so anxious the entire pregnancy, but this time round I feel almost serene. Still, it has only been one day Grin

Congratulations all !

SazCat · 14/07/2020 21:56

Like many others I'm really achy, don't think I'd describe it as cramps but more a throbbing ache that comes and goes. Tummy hip and groin area.

Really similar to the hip pain I had last time but that was when I was 12 weeks plus, so it feels odd to have these aches so early! I guess second pregnancies can be quite different?

Cmclaughlin94 · 14/07/2020 22:18

Has anyone had spotting recently?
I'm freaking out because I had a bit of pink cm (tmi sorry!) When I just went to the toilet. I'm currently 6+3, Can anyone give me some reassurance or is this it?
Thanks in advance!

Annu786 · 14/07/2020 22:52

Hi
Dark brown discharge started last week Monday lasted 3 days when I wiped mainly swabs came back with a thrush so I had to insert a tablet that doctor prescribed me
Thursday Friday no discharge and since Saturday I’v been having light pink bleeding on and off mainly when I wipe
Spoke to the early pregnancy department and they said unless it’s heavy or painful it’s usually nothing to worry about but in my case as I had to insert the tablet that shed a layer of skin from the uterus which can cause pink bleeding !
Not sure how convinced I am but she seems to thinks it’s nothing to worry about I’m 6 weeks today
I have another early scan booked in on Monday
All I’ll say is blood isn’t always a sign something isn’t right there are many many reasons so always ask your midwife / doctor for some advise
Good luck x

Annu786 · 14/07/2020 22:55

I had a eptopic 18 years ago
So go sent me in for an early scan at 4.5weeks and I have another scheduled in on Monday
Sometimes they do scan sooner if you have reasons for concern
If your age is a factor speak to your gp I got my scan the same day I spoke to him

bumblingalonghappily · 15/07/2020 05:36

Congrats @lookingatthings! It's kind of nice that your two DC will have close bdays I think!

I have a question for anyone and everyone who's had a baby before- are your boobs sore this time around? After having DC1 I noticed that I didn't get PMS sore boobs anymore, and the same is also true now I'm pregnant. First time around they were so painful! So I'm a bit worried by the Mack if symptoms/panicking I don't have enough progesterone etc. I'm not breast feeding anymore if that's important.

BuffyFanForever · 15/07/2020 05:47

Hi guys I’m due 12th March and feeling absolutely awful. Haven’t stopped being sick for several days, from the second I wake up....

Rainbow1808 · 15/07/2020 06:51

Does anyone else get nausea in the night? I don’t feel too bad during the day, but I could scream in the middle of the night! It’s anything from 1am-3am! Last night was horrendous, I couldn’t get back to sleep at all☹️ I woke my partner up because I kept sighing to myself😂

Cmclaughlin94 · 15/07/2020 08:08

Try having some lemonade, I had really bad morning sickness with my daughter and have a little bit this time and I swear by lemonade.

LauraMay09 · 15/07/2020 10:10

Hey,

Hope I am okay to join. I'm due on the 16th March, I'm so excited but know it's early. I had a MC in March so I'm anxious, I have so much more cramping this time so keep panicking but trying to stay calm. It's reassuring to read the messages on here about peoples experiences with symptoms.

Just wondered if any one had any advice about working, I'm a key worker and social distancing isn't maintained at work, which is not the employers fault it's just the nature of the job. Should I still be going in as I know restrictions have been eased or is it still risky. I've tried to google it but not clear, just flapping as I'm on leave atm but due back next week.

SmileyT · 15/07/2020 10:24

@LauraMay09 hi 👋 I'm in a similar boat to you, had a MC in March and due date is 18th March so obviously nervous. I've also been working throughout and my understanding now is that shielding is coming to an end and pregnant people aren't classed as high risk, NHS staff were still dealing with patients up until 28weeks as it was mainly the 3rd trimester they were concerned about, although no evidence to say pregnant people or babies were at risk from everything I read. At work it is a struggle to socially distance all the time as I work in a customer facing role (in central London so get the tube in) my mum is a social worker so I know it's probably even more challenging than mine. Personally I'm not planning on telling work anytime soon but if you are anxious about it then I think the government guidance is basically companies should try and accommodate you whenever possible, so if you don't want to continue at work then I'd go to HR. xx

Sussexbysea · 15/07/2020 10:29

Morning everyone!

How we all feeling today? I’ve woken up very bloated and gassy (top and bottom). I also woke up thinking about what the baby will be... boy or girl, hair or no hair? A million questions going through my head.

My daughter is 3 and asked me yesterday if she could have a baby to look after. She said “if I’m allowed one, I promise to be a good girl and look after it. Not pooey nappies though, that’s your job mummy”

It’s like she can sense something but I’ve not even told her

bobloblawlawblog · 15/07/2020 10:35

Is anyone else being a weirdo and taking tests even though you know you pregnant just in case?! I may have done that today.
