Advice - scan 2weeks behind date and no heartbeat

Has anyone else been through this? Positive or negative.
So ladies having a hard time atm. Not sure if I’m still on this journey or not. Yesterday I went for a private scan - I should of been 8+1 but doing the scan I’m only measuring 6 weeks and they couldn’t detect a heartbeat so I’m now in limbo and have to wait another 2weeks to have another scan to see if it’s just wrong dates or a missed miscarriage. I’ve had no symptoms of miscarriage I.e. no severe pains, no bleeding nothing. But my pregnancy symptoms haven’t been massive either tender boobs, bloating and frequent need for the toilet. I don’t know what I’m suppose to do now other than wait. This is going to be the hardest two weeks of my life. If it stopped growing two weeks ago shouldnt my body not have expelled it yet? x

@Szalinski so sorry to hear that you’re currently also in limbo. If you don’t mind me asking what was your bleeding like? Was it just when you wiped or constant? Did you use pads/tampons? Thanks. Xx

Sophj19 · 04/07/2020 14:19

@Runnergirl1 I am so sorry this is happening to you. Give your early pregnancy unit in your hospital a ring explain what has happened and they should fit you in for a scan and hopefully give you some clarity. The EPU were very good to me- I’ve had 3 miscarriages (currently going through the 3rd now) I found out about them from a private scan too. It’s horrific and your right it isn’t talked about enough. 1in 4 women go though a miscarriage but often don’t feel they can talk about it. If you need to chat please feel free to pm me. I’m thinking of you xx

Firevie · 04/07/2020 14:41

@Sophj19 so sorry to hear you’re going through this. I don’t know how to wait until Tuesday when EPU will call me. Stay strong xxx

PoodleMoth · 04/07/2020 18:27

@Firevie it is so hard, no one talks enough so it's hard to know what is normal. Bleeding isn't always bad but prepare yourself in case. It's just like being in limbo. If it doesn't work out this time it is scary trying again but you just have to go for it. Whatever happens you will get through it Flowers

PoodleMoth · 04/07/2020 18:29

@runnergirl1 I think it's hard for partners as they aren't going through it in the same way. Hopefully he will be happy to try again if it doesn't work out, but you may need to tell him it's what you want as he might think you need more time/aren't ready Flowers

milney25 · 04/07/2020 19:19

@firevie I'm really sorry you are going through this. I had a lot of bleeding in the first 12 weeks of both of my pregnancies. I saw you asked about pads/tampons. I'd just stick to pads for now xx

Firevie · 04/07/2020 20:02

@milney25 many thanks! Yes I thought pads but my EPU has said on Thursday if there is bleeding to use tampons?! Struck me as v odd. Luckily I just had some blood this morning when I wiped, nothing since. But thanks for the advice - at least I know pads is the right way if needed. Can I ask about your pregnancies? We’re they both fine? Thank you xxx

Firevie · 04/07/2020 20:04

@PoodleMoth many thanks! I know - hubby and I have both been preparing ourselves for the worst today but still hoping a little bit. After the blood this morning when I wiped, nothing else so far. I might try calling EPU on Monday rather than waiting until Tuesday. Xxx

milney25 · 04/07/2020 20:40

@Firevie how odd, I've always been told pad! And that way you can also monitor your blood loss.

I had bleeding in my first pregnancy all the way from 4 weeks up to 12 weeks. But it was always just when I wiped, though it could be a lot! I have about five or six EPU scans. No reason ever given. Have a 2 year old now.

Second pregnancy, I'm 25 weeks now. Have a medium bleed at 6 weeks, hit the pad. I was certain I'd lost the baby - went to the pub and had a pint etc. It was so much heavier than the first time. But again, EPU scan showed everything OK. And the bleeding did tail off after a couple of weeks.

I read the whole of the internet - at least it felt like I did. The reality of course is nothing would have changed the outcome. Lots of women bleed in pregnancy, it's really common.

Though, with the scan showing you measuring behind, i expect there's a chance this is the start of a miscarriage and it's just a horrible horrible waiting game. If you were finding it unbearable, you could book a private scan in a week. They'd probably be able to tell you if there had been growth, and I expect if there was going to be a heartbeat there would be by then.

Crikey- no idea why that posted four times!!! Sorry!!

Firevie · 04/07/2020 20:45

@milney25 many thanks! Yes, will use pads if necessary. At the moment there isn’t anything. My husband and I have been preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. The positive stories of women conceiving and having healthy pregnancies after has been encouraging. I will wait to speak to EPU on Monday and see what they say. Xxx

Szalinski · 04/07/2020 23:15

Hi firevie, no not at all. So I had quite a bit of discharge when I wiped after the toilet and it was streaked with blood. Not a huge amount but enough to make me worry. I was also having some heavy cramping too. However I've not had any more blood since that day.

Oh I also got my scan letter through today which is in 5 weeks time! Which will put me at 14 weeks Confused

I've booked a private scan for next Thursday as I cannot wait that long. If it's not good news I need to know asap so I can deal with it.

So sorry that you are in a similar state of worry. It's so hard to be able to continue with day to day life, because it's always in the back of your mind

Becalouise0910 · 05/07/2020 07:43

I had this with my twins. There was no hearbeat but the sac was still there I had to wait 2 weeks and went back 2 weeks later and saw little hearbeats! Xxx

Firevie · 05/07/2020 08:56

@Becalouise0910 thank you! I’m glad your twins were fine. I’m hoping that my baby will be fine by some miracle but preparing for the worst 😢

Firevie · 05/07/2020 08:58

@Szalinski keeping my fingers crossed for you for Thursday! Let us know how it goes. I can’t wait to call EPU tmr but have a feeling they will just make me wait and ask me to take a pregnancy test again in couple of days 😔

Becalouise0910 · 05/07/2020 08:59

I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant at the minute and going through a bleed my hcg going up but still bleeding. I have to have more bloods tomorrow then hopefully a scan. So fingers crossed for us both! 💜

Firevie · 05/07/2020 09:20

@Becalouise0910 fingers crossed for you!!!! I think with me it’s just another thing - already dates didn’t measure (not sure if you’ve seen my earlier post) and now this. So, I’m just preparing for the worst. How are you keeping track of your hcg? Didn’t know you could/should do that. Xx

Hi everyone, so I think I’m having an MC! Spotting on Saturday at which has increased over the days. No pains as such but def bleeding. I’ve booked a scan with my private doctor tomorrow and have a surgery scheduled for Tuesday (if it doesn’t happen naturally by then). I just hope I can get pregnant easily and quickly after again - has anyone had experiences of how long it took them to fall pregnant after such horrible experience? Also how are you ladies feeling - any updates? I think you were also in limbo if I remember correctly. Hope you’re all well!!! @Runnergirl1 @Becalouise0910 @Sophj19 @Szalinski
