Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@AnxiousLady1 obvs can’t speak for fouryearslater but my understanding is an anterior placenta can make it more likely that the baby is in a back to back position, which means that labour is more likely to last longer because the baby has to turn. It’s not a certainty though. There are lots of exercises/seating positions you can do in the last trimester to help your baby get into a good position for birth. And babies can be back to back with posterior placentas too.

Clove20 · 06/07/2020 10:45

I have an anterior placenta as well, and I was just going to focus on doing recommended exercises to make sure baby is not back to back. Fingers crossed x

AnxiousLady1 · 06/07/2020 10:46

@Harrietm87 Ah okay thanks for clearing that up. I've a tendency to avoid googling things where I can, as I'll always stumble across the worst case scenario! I'll have that as a question for my MW when discussing birth plans. I gather the spinning babies site is good for trying to move baby into a more optimum position, which seems to be possible, as you say.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/07/2020 10:55

@Clove20 what sort of exercises are they?

HarrietM87 · 06/07/2020 11:04

Yep spinning babies is the one! @BuffaloCauliflower. Also trying to sit upright and forward as much as possible, not slouching. Sitting on a ball is great for this (for everyone, not just anterior placentas).

Fouryearslater · 06/07/2020 11:05

Yep, what they said ^^

I ended up with an emergency c section last time after a horrific 3 day labour. Baby was back to back and stargazing, ultimately he got stuck. It’s not a given with an anterior placenta, but if I go for a vbac, all the odds would have to be in my favour not to go through anything like what I did 4 previously. And a higher risk of back to back labour isn’t one I think I can deal with (plenty of women do!).

Ultimately, if there is a risk I’ll end up with surgery, I’d rather plan for it. I think 😕

Fouryearslater · 06/07/2020 11:06

(I’m also likely to have another large baby, so again, increases the risk of a b2b baby getting stuck again)

Clove20 · 06/07/2020 11:07

@buffalocauliflower so pre-pregnancy I wasn't doing as much exercise as I needed to & first 12 weeks of pregnancy with hyperemesis. My mum was a midwife many years ago so she gives me little tips here and there (whether they work or not I don't know 😅)

So I've been mostly doing yoga and also exercises with my yoga ball for the last 4 weeks. I'm incorporating other exercises into my routine weekly (only doing what I can and as long as it is safe)
Basically building up my strength/energy for the big day. Apparently babies can turn even during labour, and if you go on all fours, it gives them a better chance of turning. There's really not much point doing that right now because there's still plenty of room for baby to keep bouncing around.

NS34 · 06/07/2020 11:08

@littlegem84 I have added you on Facebook too

@TangBloodyFastic I am 22 weeks tomorrow and have had a little bit of heartburn for the last couple of weeks but it was terrible last night, i couldn't sleep because of it, I'm hoping it was just worse due to the amount of crap I ate yesterday Grin

TangBloodyFastic · 06/07/2020 11:28

Thanks @Clove20 & @NS34 seems it can come/go at anytime then
I've only ever had it once before and it was grim. (I wasn't pregnant)
Is it a case of if you're going to get it tough luck or is it brought on by something we do? I know large meals/spicy meals can play a large part

Clove20 · 06/07/2020 12:21

@tangbloodyfastic unfortunately for me I've had it everyday (some days worse than others) I am on omeprazole which has helped abit. I tend not to eat spicy foods and large meals as that does make it significantly worse. I have to stay sat up for a while after eating as well. On bad days GP has prescribed me some gaviscon as well to have after my meals and before bed

Danniijm10 · 06/07/2020 12:33

Hi all just posted on the thread b4 this and then sore that there was this one made now.

I'm due 15th November with my 4th finally a baby girl.
I have 3 boys just 6 just 4 and not long turned 2 so I have my hands full already.
Riley-Mackenzie Antony
Kian-Hayden Oakley
Hunter-Blake Paisley

We have chosen Storme Scarlett-Rose for our baby girl
I didnt want to double her first name like the boys I've always had my heart set on storme and wasn't giving it up he wanted her to be called Scarlett-Rose so we had to compromise lol.

I have spd already my bones feel like they are going to break in 2 I've had it with my last 2 but not so early as this im tall 5 ft 10 so I carry quiet low anyway but she seems to be extra low think mb causing me so much pain early on.

Hope all your babies are growing nicely

phe694 · 06/07/2020 21:22

hey girls, hope you don't mind me joining. i'm 20 weeks on friday, although i seem to be getting a bump i still don't feel pregnant, also no movements yet. anyone else feel the same?🙁

MissingMo · 06/07/2020 21:27

Welcome @phe694 and welcome @Danniijm10

I wouldn't worry if you weren't feeling movements quite yet, you may have a front ward placenta which can mask movement. I'm sure you will start to feel things soon.

phe694 · 06/07/2020 21:34

i had a private scan at 16 weeks and they said something about my placenta being on the left, so maybe it'll still be a while 🙈 i find it hard to believe that i'm carrying a baby when i feel no different 😳

Addler · 06/07/2020 21:38

@phe694 don't worry I'm a day behind you and no movements or much of a bump either! The only way I feel pregnant is the crippling back pain/sciatica and SPD I'm getting already. Every time I take a step it feels like the front of my pelvis is splitting open... Hmm I'd much rather just have some nice movements!

phe694 · 06/07/2020 21:46

@Addler omg same with the sciatica, the pain in my right bum cheek is horrible, and trying to walk sometimes is something else 🙃 i can't wait to have a proper bump, instead of feeling even more fat 😅

Krisnov2020 · 07/07/2020 07:04

Hey ladies. Hope you don't mind me crashing the party. I am due late November. Currently 20+2! Got my 20 week scan today so very nervous! I'm so disappointed I haven't been able to get to any NCT groups of classes as I was looking forward to meeting other first time mum! Xx

Hay it will be fine. Are you finding out sex if you haven't already. I'm on my 4th and have never done one class. Never felt the need to especially with my first i wanted to go into it as my own experience and not have everyone tell me horror stories etc. Well nothing put me off I love giving birth but hate being pregnant 🙃
Missworry92 · 07/07/2020 07:25

I'm due on 15th nov and also a little concerned that there's no classes. I feel like I might miss something important that I'm supposed to do 😅 do any of you do exercises? Pelvic floor exercises etc? I havent done any and not even sure when any of it has to start 😊 feel like a dumb dumb as it's my first pregnancy haha

NatalieH2220 · 07/07/2020 07:36

Good luck for today @Krisnov2020

NatalieH2220 · 07/07/2020 07:37

My scan is tomorrow, feels ages since the last but it wasn't really as had a reassurance scan at 17 weeks. My sons first day back to nursery tomorrow too since March so going to be an anxious day all round!

MeandSpud · 07/07/2020 08:27

@Missworry92, it's a good idea to get started with pelvic floor exercises - a quick Google will explain to you how to do them and there are lots of apps that tell you when to squeeze and release (you don't really need to use one, but I find it helps me make sure I definitely do them at least once a day). They're really odd - I've been doing them since I found out I was pregnant and I still have days where I think I'm doing them completely wrong, but I figure anything is better than nothing!

Wigglebum87 · 07/07/2020 08:46

Think I finally had (and saw) some proper kicks last night while laid in bed gently jiggling my tummy, there was a very distinctive push just under my belly button, just stopped as soon as i told DH to watch!

So happy today!

Pink15 · 07/07/2020 09:22

@Danniijm10 Why do you love giving birth? I'm a FTM so any positive stories appreciated 😂
