@champoopappi that's what I feel like! 😂

Enjoy the midwife thread ladies. I really had to hold myself back from letting them have it... 🤐

peachypetite · 19/06/2020 14:56

Had my appt via phone. Have to get the dental exemption form from the GP and also organise whooping cough via GP too but I’ll do that after my 20 wk scan.

chubbyhotchoc · 19/06/2020 14:56

Thank ladies.
@ChampooPapi I'm normally a 12 too. Trying to embrace this time. Will definitely be my second and last baby

Dee96 · 19/06/2020 15:09

@ChampooPapi you and me both! May have to move over to the other side of the country at least you guys sound like you have your stuff sorted! Had a quick peak at the article you linked and the absolute lies coming from the chief midwife! Reading the comments of the article I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing the lack of support and feeling frustrated but it's just bad that is the situation in the first place, especially for us first time mums. It's fair enough they are limiting contact for what ever reasons but dont make a whole article trying make out and highlight what they arent even doing, it just feels like lies to cover their backs. I dont understand why there hasnt even been an attempt made to just follow up with a phone appointment since it doesnt require any contact I dont see what excuse there is for it.

excitednerves · 19/06/2020 15:11

@ChampooPapi - I have a confession to make. I backed out of picking up the mountain buggy last night. I made up an excuse (I feel awful for the poor lady who was selling it) something just didn’t feel right. So now back to square one. Still plenty of time for research and finding a second hand bargain, I’m only 16 weeks. Onwards and upwards.

excitednerves · 19/06/2020 15:13

Reading the midwife thread I’m so shocked at the care (or lack of) that people are receiving! Especially first time mums. I had soooo many questions last time.

I am incredibly grateful for the team at Kingston who, as far as I’ve been concerned, seem to be carrying on as normal.

ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 15:20

@excitednerves when it doesn't feel right you need to go with your gut! There will be loads on your area popping up on Gumtree so just give it another month or so and then you'll no doubt pick one up, potentially even with a carry Cot plus already, cheaper and better quality, with a better feeling behind it all. You did the right thing. We have definitely been lucky in our areas, Torbay have been excellent but then they've also had some of the lowest numbers of covid admittance and my area in particular has been a pocket where infection has stayed low. But luck of the draw midwife wise, mine seems fine, but my god the one I had here ten years ago was such a no! Now I'm older I would have asked to change but at 22 I thought that it was normal she was such a oddball 🤦

@ChampooPapi I'm Brizzle based now, 2 years ago I had to make an appointment with the GP for whooping cough, this time around I'll get it at my 20 week scan so at least it's a little more efficient!

Snowwhite2020 · 19/06/2020 15:54

@ChampooPapi I just read the link that you posted. I think every single comment almost without exception suggested that mums are not feeling well supported....

RunnerGirl123 · 19/06/2020 15:59

Hey all, thank you for all the kind messages yesterday and today.

The FMU at UCLH have been lovely today, really gentle and kind. We're probably going to opt for a CVS on Monday, just waiting to discuss everything with OH when he gets back from work (as we only had 24 hours notice of the appointment, he wasnt able to join me but u had a friend travel to london with me for support). Results take 10 days so not too long to wait. This will let us know if baby has a genetic problem, and if not we can look at options of if there is anything else they can do. So the prognosis still hasn't changed but I feel we are in good hands and we're being looked after as best we can be now.

Thanks again for all your supportive messages. Love the bump pics and can't wait to find out some more genders tomorrow! I'll still be keeping up with reading the thread, but don't worry if I don't post too often. I'll let you all know when we know more xxxxx

Kj1010 · 19/06/2020 16:13

@runnergirl123 glad today went smoothly & you are being looked after. Thanks for updating us. Hope you are able to spend some quality time with your OH when he's back from work to talk things through. Sending hugs x

EithneBlue · 19/06/2020 18:03

@RunnerGirl123 - you sound like you are in the best possible place and it is good to hear that they are taking good care of you. I hope you get some clearer answers soon x

Snowwhite2020 · 19/06/2020 18:17

Good to hear you are being supported so well @RunnerGirl123. Xx

PipTed · 19/06/2020 18:33

Just caught up with the last of the old and the new feed. I’m really feeling for those of you who are having a difficult time with your pregnancy. Glad you are getting the support you need! You’re showing incredible strength at such a difficult time. ❤️

PipTed · 19/06/2020 18:34

Aww I love all the bump pics! Great seeing how everyone is progressing. Joining in on the action...

So this is my bump 2 days ago at 17 weeks (first baby), I feel huge and I’m not even letting it all ‘hang out’!

Awkes · 19/06/2020 18:47

Glad I’m not the only one with a bump! I thought I was the only one. Here’s mine although some of that belly is my own I’m afraid 😂 please excuse the unflattering bottoms, theyre the OH’s and incredibly comfortable

Loving all the bump photos! Mine seems to have suddenly appeared in the last week or so and if it keeps growing at the same rate I’m seriously worried about how big I’ll be by November!

Amyyy1 · 19/06/2020 21:03

I'm only 5ft1 and pre pregnancy a size 4-6 so everyone told me I wouldn't show at all for months and months but I feel absolutely huge already and have done since week 14 (now 16)😂 I do love my bump though it makes it feel that much more real!

PipTed · 19/06/2020 23:04

I do have a Bump Question. I are people’s bumps squishy hard? When I’m stood up or on my back it’s hard (but could probs pinch an inch), the rest of the time it’s squishy. I’m slim build usually, so don’t know if I’ve just put on weight or the bump is pushing out any fat I had before it is full blown? Always just thought it would be a solid bump all the time.

Dee96 · 20/06/2020 00:07

@PipTed before bump I was very petite and slim. Now it just feels really hard, especially the bigger and more bloated my bump gets. Sometimes, I think when my stomach is experiencing growth pains, I get this horrible tightness. Honestly just feels like I've ate the worlds biggest Christmas dinner and just in that constant discomfort solid feeling state. I don't know how I manage to have space for food. Barely any room for squish but I'm sure everyones is different and squishy sounds alot nicer than rock 😂

PipTed · 20/06/2020 07:59

@Dee96 yeah, as time goes on, it’s getting more solid. Like you say when a little crampy or after food, the bloat is just a solid lump. I feel exactly like I’m constantly bloated and want to hold my tummy in, which is getting more and more difficult, But there are times when I’m sat down and It’s just a big squishy roll. It’s weird because my belly has always been quite flat.

chubbyhotchoc · 20/06/2020 08:49

@PipTed mine is completely solid. Scarily solid but like I mentioned before I had a tummy tuck two years ago so you can't pinch an inch on it. I think it's about 50 percent baby bump and 50 percent water retention though because I'm always a bit flatter first thing. My thighs and hips I could pinch about ten inches on though 🤣

RestorationInsanity · 20/06/2020 08:51

This is mine yesterday at exactly 16 weeks. Really I've just thickened, I think if you didn't know what I looked like normally, you wouldn't guess I was pregnant. I'm 5'8 and normally a size 8/10. My waist is 5.5 inches bigger and my boobs have gone up about 2-3 cup sizes. I've gained a kilo now on my pre pregnancy weight. That pic is me not letting it out but not holding it in.

RestorationInsanity · 20/06/2020 08:53

@PipTed my stomach is like yours, hard when standing or lying but softer when sitting. I think because there's less strain/tension on your abdominal muscles when sitting, a bit like how when super fit people with six packs sit hunched they still have a little roll or their muscles aren't as defined.
