You have a lovely bump already, was only just showing at 17 weeks in my previous pregnancy! Although definitely didn’t stay that way, was huge by the end since she was a big baby 😂

Dee96 · 19/06/2020 13:11

@Ayannah no I'm in surrey, I honestly thought everyone was experiencing the same lack of contact until I read everyones posts on here! I think it's fair to say I feel abit neglected I'm nearly 18 weeks and still no 20 week appointment booked or on the horizons. I just hope my whole pregnancy doesnt become a thing of chasing up everytime it really frustrates me. I do understand everything must seem hectic for the midwifes and nhs workers but if some people are getting the care I dont get why others arent?

RestorationInsanity · 19/06/2020 13:13

Wow you have a proper bump @EithneBlue. So lovely! My letting it all out is like your first photo, I'm so paranoid I'm not big enough. Although you are almost 2 weeks ahead of me.

RestorationInsanity · 19/06/2020 13:14

I don't know if anyone else saw the guest post coming up by a midwife, but it had so many negative (honest) comments about maternity care during covid that they seem to have removed it from the pregnancy board!

MummyShark97 · 19/06/2020 13:22

@restorationinsanity Wow really? wish I'd seen that. I'm not surprised I think it's been pretty bad!!!

Awkes · 19/06/2020 13:26

I felt like I had a bad start but feel lucky now to have a named midwife and have had a f2f at 16 weeks. I did question things and she seemed frustrated herself. Seems like all pregnant midwives are off work as well as any shielding/self isolating with symptoms so they’re massively short staffed as you’d expect and people are just falling through the gaps. Quite worrying to think of potentially really vulnerable women being forgotten or missed

EithneBlue · 19/06/2020 13:29

It still exists on the Guest Post board @MummyShark97 :-)

In a few weeks, @RestorationInsanity you'll probably be wishing for the tiny bump again 😂 Everyone is so different in how they look: I'm only 160cm tall and to be fair I was making no effort to hold anything in for that second photo 😂😂

Ayannah · 19/06/2020 13:32

@Dee96 That's awful if you haven't had your 20 week booked either. To be fair I did get mine through by post quite a few weeks ago now. Can you give them a call and find out what's going on?

The midwife who filled out my maternity notes on the 8 week booking call also made loads of mistakes - including putting that I can't write Confused. I mentioned it at my 12 week scan and they made all the right noises about checking it, but I've not heard anything since. I'd like to have seen the midwife guest post too @RestorationInsanity!

MummyShark97 · 19/06/2020 13:41

@eithneblue ah found it thank you! Added my 2 pence! Grrrr

chubbyhotchoc · 19/06/2020 13:43

@EithneBlue that's a nice bump. You're so slim 😭😭 I just get so thick all over- here's mine 16+5 and 9lb up

chubbyhotchoc · 19/06/2020 13:46

I don't think breathing in and out makes much difference to mine. It just sits there 🤣🤣

EithneBlue · 19/06/2020 13:54

That's a very cute bump @chubbyhotchoc (and I am not that slim - I'm usually a size 12 - I think it's the angle I took the photo at!)

MummyShark97 · 19/06/2020 13:56

bump envy! I've just got a 'one too many doughnuts' look going on at the moment I'll share later

Snowwhite2020 · 19/06/2020 14:16

Lovely photos of bumps girls!

@RunnerGirl123 thinking of you today.

If it helps- I had 16 week midwife appointment this week and was told to book in with go nurse for whooping cough vaccine which I have since done. Was all pretty straight forward but I think it varies area to area how you get it/ when/ where. 16 weeks is early to get it- you can only get it FROM 16 weeks but there is an upper limit too I think but from memory (don’t quote me) it was into the 30s (weeks) xx

firstbabybell · 19/06/2020 14:19

Ooh I've got bump envy!

And you girls look so slim. Dont know where you've hidden that 9lbs @chubbyhotchoc!

Dee96 · 19/06/2020 14:22

@Ayannah I did call them the other day the lady on the other end of the phone was very rushed and just said they dont have any appointments available for 20 week scans and are waiting for more space. She wasnt really listening to what I said she just spoke over me and that was that, I was told to wait for a letter but to be honest I dont know if I trust that what she said was correct considering how abrupt she was being with the information. I am trying to be patient but with only two weeks to go until I'm due the scan im getting abit skeptical

ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:24

@StephRae yes I'm expecting fraternal twins as well, or so they think! 1 in three fraternal can end up as identical but you have to have a test after you have them. It's a mouth swab test so very easily done. That's obviously only if they are the same sexes which mine are, having two girls. I haven't felt mine move yet but I know one has an anterior placenta. I also have two other girls, so a full female house here soon. Is your first a boy? When is your twenty week scan? I'm due the day after you on the 25th ☺️

excitednerves · 19/06/2020 14:26

@StephRae hi! Congratulations on the twins! I’ll also have two close together - somewhere 14-16 months apart depending on when number 2 makes an arrival as DS was 7 weeks early and we expect this one to be to.

I think the first year is going to be madness - and I’m only having one! We’ll be fine though, I’m sure. Are you near family for support?

ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:28

@EithneBlue oh my goodness! Fantastic bump photo! Love it 💞💞

ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:37

@chubbyhotchoc glorious bump! 💜💜 Mine is like yours but I'm fatter 😂

ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:38

@MummyShark97 and @eithneblue Champoo skips off and gets the popcorn out for this midwife thread 😏

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:41

@Dee96 the care you are receiving is astonishing, it is absolutely outrageous. I'm really sorry you have basically had zero support and no contact to speak of that's been helpful or reassuring, it's really shouldn't be anything like this for you. All our appointments here in south west are back to face to face and normal schedule now. Twenty week scans should be booked in weeks ago for you, I'm angry on your behalf, as well as upset. It's not ok!

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:44

@firstbabybell I'm giving my own bump a few weeks to 'develope' or I will genuinely just look very podgy, and I honestly am not an overweight woman normally! I'm a curvy size 12-14, and that's what's basically skrewed me over this time round. Those curves have become one! One giant middle area 😅

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 19/06/2020 14:55

@Snowwhite2020 yes in Bristol I had to booky own whooping cough with the gp, so self referring type thing after 16 weeks. But here in south west it's done at the 20 week scan so should be either or for everyone on here. Or so we hope! This whole situation is a bloody shambles to be honest, this government have seriously fluffed up the NHS services, cutting so much through austerity, and now we are paying the heavy price after so many essential services have buckled under the pandemic. That's why our care is differential, some areas are on their knees but still shuffling, some are flat out and not moving anymore !
