Yes I’m so happy to be having 1 of each! And good luck at your scan, hope it goes well, I agree about the not being able to have your partner with you of course I get why but it’s definitely frustrating.

Kj1010 · 03/07/2020 14:24

Eeeekk I'm excited /nervous/scared my scan is very soon defo think I have scan anixety creeping up 🥴

Teaandbiscuits123 · 03/07/2020 14:43

@RestorationInsanity I think it was maybe the back or something? I’ve had it a couple of times as well. I’ve also noticed that when I bend down I can sometimes feel where about the baby is.

To those of you who haven’t started shopping - I haven’t bought a thing either! I’m trying to hold off as I think once I start I’ll go a bit mad! Think I’ll wait until August as I’ll be back at work full time in sep so probably won’t have the energy for it then! In the meantime I’m trying to do a bit of research! ☺️

ChampooPapi · 03/07/2020 17:32

@StephRae fantastic news your having a girl and a boy, how wonderful. Absolutely perfect I reckon, the two girls will love mothering their bro 🥰

Need to post this while I remember. If you're going to bottle feed these bibs with the padding around the neck are the only ones worth getting. My dd used to dribble milk all over herself no matter how carefully you fed her and none of the others kept her dry. They're not scratchy like the plastic ones. I need about a million of these

just sharing this website www.myexpertmidwife.com with everyone ! They have really good blogs and do an instagram live every Wednesday that I've found really useful and also have a YouTube channel.

Asianchick6693 · 03/07/2020 18:48

Hi guys, I hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to ask a favour.. if anyone has time could they please give my latest thread a read and give me some advice or tell me about any similar experiences? I'm worrying so much.

Kj1010 · 03/07/2020 19:18

So tonight I'm having what I think is movement my womb keeps going hard and it feels like something is turning inside

RestorationInsanity · 03/07/2020 19:32

@Kj1010 that's what some of mine feels like! I have no frame of reference so am working on the basis that must be what it is! How exciting for you! Xxx

lc86 · 03/07/2020 19:33

@chubbyhotchoc they are amazing aren't they! The only ones I'll buy xx

chubbyhotchoc · 03/07/2020 19:59

@lc86 yes also great when they start dribbling like crazy! You don't want to be changing then any more than necessary

firstbabybell · 03/07/2020 21:03

@mummyshark97 thanks that website looks really good!

MummyShark97 · 03/07/2020 21:09

@firstbabybell the instagram live feeds which they also put on YouTube afterwards are so helpful. Gave me so many ideas about putting together a birth plan. They are just really good at making it clear what you can ask for if you want it e.g. if you want water for early labour pain but then have a 'land birth' ask for it! Just think little things like that are really helpful for piecing together what you might like to do.

ladytremaineswig · 04/07/2020 11:34

I know I'm always asking about this but has anyone had quite a fast gain in the last two weeks? I've put three pounds on and I've been really careful not to eat crap or too much. Scared I'm going to be an elephant at the end.

peachypetite · 04/07/2020 12:04

I don’t have scales at home and quite glad because I’m eating healthily and there isn’t anything I can do if I end up huge. It won’t be because I binged on crap.

Missworry92 · 04/07/2020 12:19

@ladytremaineswig I think that is completely normal and you shouldn't worry about it. I've gained about 3 pounds too this week if not a little more. I'm 21weeks tomorrow and I'm pretty sure that from this point on it will be gaining more and more and a baby starts to really grow big! It's my first child so I'm hoping I will get on with breast feeding fine and that helps to loose the weight after, i think it's best just to enjoy the pregnancy and not to worry!

PipTed · 04/07/2020 12:37

@ladytremaineswig yes I weighed myself and I’ve gained some too, but I ate a lot of carbs yesterday, so think it will probably sort itself out over the next few days of my normal diet. For me I’m not gradually gaining, I just pack it on every three weeks. Strange how it works, isn’t it! I’ve made a decision to not stress about the weight gain and compare, what will be will be, if you’re being healthy then it’s just how you’re body does pregnancy 😊❤️

EithneBlue · 04/07/2020 12:47

I have stopped weighing myself. So long as my maternity clothes fit, no worries!

EithneBlue · 04/07/2020 13:06

... Also a possibly awkward can of worms ... are any other first time parents getting tired of hearing "well you won't be able to do that anymore when you have a kid"?
Like, I intend to take the child camping, hiking, abroad and to family-friendly festivals. I intend to keep some of my personal hobbies and for my husband to keep some of his. We intend to go out for dinner and go to parties. We already have tickets booked for a child-free city break when the baby will be around 7 months old. I intend to go back to work full time because I love my job.
Of course I might change my mind about any of this, but I do that all the time in life anyway: I am just so tired of the negative advice to put my life on hold. Like, if I change my mind about doing any of those things - for any reason including or unrelated to the baby - that's fine, that's how life rolls and I'm chilled out enough to be flexible about my life decisions. I just wish people would stop imposing their own life choices onto me - it's getting really dull to politely smile and nod.

Pinktruffle · 04/07/2020 13:28

I haven't actually told very many people that I'm pregnant, only a handful know and I've been isolating so it's been easier to keep it a secret so I think I've luckily escaped a lot of those comments @EithneBlue. I do think people get a kick out of scaring new parent though. They lay it on so thick with the 'you'll never sleep again' type comments.

As you say, most of us are balanced enough adults to still try to have a life of our own along with being a mum. I intend to go back to work 4 days a week, I couldn't quit - I still want to be a person in my own right and as I'm living in an area where I don't know many people, work is really integral to that. I also intend to go back to work in July (pay related and I work in a school so will be off again for 6 weeks quickly) and let my DH have some shared paternal leave as it's important for him to spend time with his child

Hanrora06 · 04/07/2020 13:43

@RestorationInsanity I felt a sort of hard bump bit sort of near my right hip as well! I couldn't find anything online about it so I may end up ringing my midwife unit just to be like....what is this...my husband is like ooh it's the baby and I'm like is it?? Or is it the placenta? Or my organs being moved out of the way?? Bizarre!

So I know I said about the Snuzpod but then I started thinking hmm maybe it won't be so good if it can't be used after around 6 months ish...so I've looked at the Schnuggle, which you can buy a converter for. Any thoughts? www.johnlewis.com/shnuggle-air-bedside-crib-stone-grey/p3985121

Final thought- we're all due around Christmas, so what are you all thinking of doing for Christmas day? I really hadn't been considering it and I feel like I should! Thinking if the baby hasn't come (EDD 19th Dec but I think it'll be more like 26th) then I'll just go to my sister's or mum's, whoever is hosting, as usual, and have my bag ready to go- but if I've had them then just stay and home and people come to us with food for a small portion of the day? Or just cook out of our house and we can nap and just soak up the atmosphere?

peachypetite · 04/07/2020 13:52

@EithneBlue I haven’t really experienced that yet! Who are these people, friends? I’m already sleeping shit and have been since the start of pregnancy tbh, luckily I’ve only had positive discussions about the baby. My friends do know what a great support network we will have (first baby in family, both sets of grandparents living close by etc) and not all of them have that so maybe that’s why? Interesting discussion about Christmas here which I just posted on: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3957801-First-Christmas-with-newborn-what-would-you-do
Bearing in mind I’m not due until 30 Nov, and baby could well be late, I’ll be staying in my pyjamas all day at home, with food courtesy of M&S/Cook and people can pop in for an hour.

Snowwhite2020 · 04/07/2020 13:54

Feeling the baby move over here girls! That’s been a few days of it now- feels like bubbles popping in the evening and the morning! Hope everyone is well xx

firstbabybell · 04/07/2020 14:25

Interesting thought about Christmas. I guess a lot depends on when the babies start arriving - as you say, 2 weeks late brings us really close to Christmas Day!

We are due to go to my husband's parents (1.5 hours away) & they have started eating out on Christmas Day which sounds like a total nightmare with a 2 week old to be honest. 🤦‍♀️ They will also expect us to stay over. God knows what we'll do....

Any mamas out there got an opinion whether a night (or even a day!) away from home when you are 2 weeks in with your first is feasible?!

firstbabybell · 04/07/2020 14:27

@snowwhite2020 that's super exciting! Thought I had an isolated "pop" the other day but nothing since 😢 19+1 today
