@ChampooPapi I've bought two but second hand, I wanted one for upstairs and one for downstairs (I'm lazy lol) I just couldn't face paying full price for two of them xx

lc86 · 01/07/2020 20:39

@ChampooPapi the one for downstairs is the old model as I don't need that to light up etc x

Teaandbiscuits123 · 01/07/2020 20:42

Hi Lovelies!! ❤️ Wow things move fast! Work has been a bit crazy so I haven’t managed to catch up with everything but it’s nice to see some bumps appearing!

I hope everyone is well ☺️ Xx

chubbyhotchoc · 01/07/2020 20:55

@ChampooPapi I was thinking about this. The night one is supposed to be silent. I don't really remember the original being particularly loud though anyway so not sure it's worth it

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 21:57

@Babyhope98 I had that quite often through last pregnancy and loads through this pregnancy sorry for tmi as well! The pain is horrendous sometimes - I found certain foods triggered it more!

@ChampooPapi we had the regular perfect prep and found it fine in the night - but I do think anything to make bottles and night feeding easier is worth that little bit extra!

They are a life saver though which ever one you get!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 21:58

@chubbyhotchoc now you've said that - the normal one does beep very loud but our baby slept through everything - so maybe the night time one would definitely be worth the extra with two babies - @ChampooPapi xx

ChampooPapi · 01/07/2020 22:04

@Amyyy1 yes he immediately got the tightenings of the chest! They're the same ones most men get when
a woman says 'darling look at this baby thing...' as she turns a laptop/phone towards him 😆

@confused107 from what I've read as long as you use the proper branded filters and keep the inner bits and pieces clean, especially in hard water areas, they are brilliant for formula. I know people use a very good quality thermos as well that keeps water above 70 so that's also an option, where you'd have one of cold water and a thermos of boiling up with you at night. But definitely try breastfeeding if you'd like too, you can have some formula in the cupboard for when the baby comes homes so you've got both options.

@lc86 you are my kind of woman! I am going to do the bottle warmer as well I think as they are useful for defrosting breast milk or warming up breast milk in the night.

@chubbyhotchoc I am very tempted by the day night perfect prep but the price! if the original unit is not very loud then it can't surly disturb a sleeping baby? plus the baby will be crying for milk anyway I guess. Did you use the original with your daughter? How did you find it generally? I was going to do the thermos thing but when I saw the perfect prep it seemed a no brainier to me!

@nearlyamummyof2boys I think I may need to start a campaign of wafting the day night one under my mother's and in law's noses. It's so shiny dam it!

ChampooPapi · 01/07/2020 22:08

@nearlyamummyof2boys also do you have any bottle warmer recommendations? I need to be able to warm up breast milk as well, especially at night. I have never used one before but would be good if it has potential to defrost as well 🤔

Ooo I've just read on another mumsnet thread from last year that there is YouTube videos on how to disconnect the speaker on the original perfect prep so it doesn't make a noise. Very simple apparently. I think the noise at night could get irritating, as although I'm going to try and use bottled breast milk at night, that certainly could go out the window with twins fairly quickly. Depends on supply and pumping, and so many factors really. Feeding can be bamboozling!

I'll certainly be keenly checking for deals and discounts on the prep machines so I will post on here if any good reductions come up. I think if it was under a hundred it can be justified, but they are currently 116 at John Lewis, they are just glorifi plastic kettles after all.

(Beautiful shiny life easing glorified kettles 🤤)

@ChampooPapi there is loads of Perfect prep on Shpock and places like that and they are so easy to take apart and give a proper clean - they have a cleaning function on them.
So I think with brand new filters they're fine second hand.
They are just so handy my friend used to keep cold kettle water in the fridge but when your babies crying at 3am it's a nightmare to try and get the temperature right!

I've never used bottle warmers before just used to put it in a bowl of boiling water if ever needed but apparently the Tommee Tippee ones are great - I think Tommee Tippee are brilliant for all things bottle related they have great anti-colic bottles we found really handy. We found the Mam bottles and sterilisers really bad. But obviously everyone has different experiences 😊😊😊

chubbyhotchoc · 01/07/2020 22:43

@ChampooPapi well that's what I was thinking- Surely if you're making a bottle baby is already awake? Mind you if you've got twins perhaps one might still be asleep?
I bought one with my dd when she was four months but at that point I'd been breastfeeding and topping up with ready made formula. I thought I could switch her to powdered but she wouldn't really drink it. I had a few goes with the machine and it did seem really easy. You just basically have the powder measured out ( I used little sealed pots), and then just press the button.
I was really disappointed she wouldn't drink the powdered. The ready pour formula cost a fortune!
You can buy the machines second hand and just get a new filter. Not sure how hygienic that is though. It's on my list to investigate.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 22:46

@chubbyhotchoc we used to sealed pots as well was a dream at night!!

chubbyhotchoc · 01/07/2020 22:46

@nearlyamummyof2boys I had a Tommee Tippee bottle warmer. I actually found it made them too hot and went back to boiling water in a bowl.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 22:47

Used to use**

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 22:47

@chubbyhotchoc oh really? Yeah I've never used one myself - the trusty boiling bowl of water never fails 😂

chubbyhotchoc · 01/07/2020 22:54

@nearlyamummyof2boys probably because I was bog eyed and forgetful about how long it had been in there in fairness. Because I was breastfeeding and bottlefeeding I'd lose track of time. Seemed to spend most of the day feeding one way or another 😂

Babyhope98 · 01/07/2020 23:01

@nearlyamummyof2boys the diarrhoea has stopped now I just have an aching pain in my lower abdomen like period pain did you have that ?

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 23:06

@Babyhope98 yeah I had that if had a bad reaction to food. Like a piercing pain and then stomach cramps I found them similar to bad wind or period cramps. I used to be bent over in pain at work with them. I found going and hands and knees and moving around sometimes help to relieve that pain.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 23:08

@Babyhope98 before I found out I was pregnant with my first son I initially thought I had bad IBS because of the stomach cramps and the sudden needs to go to the loo! It might be worth doing a food diary to see if anything triggers it?

nearlyamummyof2boys · 01/07/2020 23:09

@Babyhope98 are you on iron tablets? I find they give me terrible wind - sorry for TMI! The joys of womanhood 😂

Babyhope98 · 01/07/2020 23:35

I’ve just been taking prenatal tablets @nearlyamummyof2boys haven’t had this before and I’ve been on them for a while. I was constipated before and now this 🙄 I rang the triage unit as I was worried they said that the diarrhoea may have irratated the uterus as they are on the same nerve path so may be why I’m experiencing this period pain. I hope it goes I don’t feel like I have wind I think my stomach still feels dicky tho 🤨

kkr168 · 02/07/2020 11:49

Am I the only crazy one that braved the next sale this morning?
I am sorted for baby clothes in newborn, 0-3 & 3-6 months.
There was no queue & hardly anyone in the shop, so glad I went.

I really need to stop buying though, family members keep asking what they can get for the baby & at this rate I won't need anything.

@Babyhope98 I have had an upset stomach too, it started as really painful trapped wind but I took some rennie deflatine & it seems to have eased the pain. I feel like I'm constantly on the loo at the moment though, its driving me crazy, hoping this stage passes quickly.

chubbyhotchoc · 02/07/2020 12:05

@kkr168 I might have a look later. Probably won't be much left. Was there much girls stuff did you notice?
@ChampooPapi I saw this this morning and thought of you. Are you going to go matching with your twins? A friend of mine had twin girls she always had them all dressed up identical. I don't think I could cope with the pressure lol 😂

👣 Due late Nov/Dec, it's bump time ladies! 👣
ChampooPapi · 02/07/2020 12:14

@chubbyhotchoc I love these! Twin rainbow rompers 🥰 , i'll definitely do matching sometimes, I mean how could I not with two girls!
