Midwife said movements could even be after 20 weeks depending on where your placenta is, will be good to learn more at the 20 week scan. Mine is in 18 days.

Dee96 · 22/06/2020 14:06

Still got no 20 week scan booked. Still havent heard jack all from my midwife. At this rate I'm thinking I may have to start planning a self birth 😂! Is anyone on here Surrey based?

peachypetite · 22/06/2020 14:12

@dee I’d probably head down to the reception desk and get it booked in in person.

Pinktruffle · 22/06/2020 14:31

I just managed to get my Snuzpod 3 in the John Lewis sale. I got it for £157 instead of £199 as all other websites are advertising it Grin

RestorationInsanity · 22/06/2020 14:39

Good work! It's tempting, although we've been offered the loan of one by a friend so was thinking of just going with that. plus I'm not sure I'm ready to buy anything yet.

Pinktruffle · 22/06/2020 14:50

I didn't want to buy anything till 20 weeks, but I didn't want to miss out on what I feel is a significant saving so just did it.
I thought I'd be a bit scared having made an early purchase but I am actually quite excited!

I think my scan last week has given me a bit of Dutch courage. I'm 17+4 now.... Also, returning things is always an option.

RestorationInsanity · 22/06/2020 14:55

I think it's great @pinktruffle. I'm getting around it by just letting my mum buy stuff 😂

confused107 · 22/06/2020 15:26

Sounds like a bargain @Pinktruffle

My husband has just come home with the first thing for the baby. Some belly buds to play my belly music. He is going to put a playlist together. Very sweet bless him

PipTed · 22/06/2020 15:28

Regarding the lack of weight gain. I am the complete opposite! I think I’ve gained about 4lbs since last week 😩😩😩 (Total weight gain is creeping up to about 10lbs) which surpasses what is recommended on the weight gain calculator and any apps I’ve looked at.

I’m really worried about it as I’m only small and it’s very noticeable. I try and have a cheat day once a week and the rest of the week I’m pretty healthy, so not sure what to do.

Anyone have any tips on how to better manage weight in pregnancy?

lc86 · 22/06/2020 15:55

So I had my 16 week appointment with midwife today, over the phone. She told me my urine at dating scan indicates a urine infection so to call drs for antibiotics as it can lead to a miscarriage! Why the hell didn't they call me earlier! Luckily I know baby is fine as had private scan Saturday but I'm just so mad at the whole process! xx

lc86 · 22/06/2020 15:56

She also said the 25 week appointment will now also be over the phone x

Pinktruffle · 22/06/2020 16:05

I've been told there is no link at all between urine infections and miscarriage. The danger is if it spreads to your kidneys and can then cause complications in pregnancy. It's a bit worrying that your midwife said that and I've been told the opposite

peachypetite · 22/06/2020 16:23

I honestly don’t think midwives always know what they are talking about. I was told to not eat peanuts which contradicts the nhs page.

lc86 · 22/06/2020 16:26

Oh god, it's mad isn't it!!

ChampooPapi · 22/06/2020 17:25

@lc86 yes they found a bit of growth in my urine at my 16 week appointment and actually just said to keep drinking water to flush it out. Then to take another sample in a week or so to the doctors and they'll check if it's gone, but there is no risk of miscarriage unless you get a full blown kidney infection. So very different advise and no antibiotics either. It's good to have this thread to compare and get reassurance when we are given so much conflicting advise. I also had keytones and glucose but diabetes test came back fine. I bet your bottom dollar I'll end up getting it later on though, think it may be able for the course with a multiple situation.

I'm exhausted today, I'm already laying in bed in my pyjamas. I'm going to end up a beached whale arnt I !

@Pinktruffle it's absolutely fine to buy things! Your nearly half way through your pregnancy, we all have as much chance now as at 40 weeks of taking home our babies, give or take a 0.1 percent or what have you. So buy away if you see a bargain and feel ready, each to their new own personal feelings of course. But that is a fab deal for a new snuz 3, it's really exciting when these things arrive too!

@ChampooPapi yes thank god for this thread! Aww make the most of it, listen to your body 😊

Amyyy1 · 22/06/2020 22:52

Almost 17 weeks and my nausea and sickness has come back with a vengeance. It's constant atm, I'm really struggling with work and doing my sleep in shifts😓 Anyone else had it come back again after a short couple weeks break??

peachypetite · 23/06/2020 06:49

Oh @Amyyy1 that sucks. I had felt like things were improving and then spent most of Saturday in bed and back to eating hardly anything for dinner and beige and bland the rest of the time.

Sjakabfi · 23/06/2020 08:52

Hiya girls not really read any of your posts but I'm due 27th November baby number 4 and I'm at east Surrey hospital. I had a early gender scan can I get your thoughts please they said boy which is fab but I'm not sure it looks completely different to boy scans I've seen on Google I was 16weeks 4 at the time. Hope all of your pregnancy are going well. Xxxx

I was in the 'not buying after 20 weeks' group until I got given some hand-me-downs from one of 2 friends moving house at the moment. Then started browsing Ebay and got sucked in LOL! I'm glad I started early on the newborn reusable nappies though - they're quite hard to come by (and expensive but that will even out when I sell them on).
I've already been given so much by way of hand-me-downs I honestly think I can almost clothe the baby for the first 9 months without buying anything. The cheapness will go out of the window on a BabyZen Yoyo though - even though we are likely to replace our car (I'm actually more concerned about safety than space - our 11 year old 107 is basically made of plastic and if someone rear-ends me they'll end up on the back seat) I can't see me wanting something much bigger than a fiesta for city driving the space saving is going to be important (plus I love to travel carry-on only and will love the challenge of doing that with a baby). I was looking at cool multi-terrain buggies until I realised that if (when) I am going to take the baby up a mountain, I'll be carrying it in a backpack.

peachypetite · 23/06/2020 09:01

How is everyone feeling about the 20 week scan? Mine is in 2.5 weeks. I hope time goes quickly until then and I hope not to feel as horribly anxious as I did before 12 weeks, that was horrid! I think my bump is getting more prominent now, feels like it’s moving higher up.

Sjakabfi · 23/06/2020 09:02

Just reading I have been told il not feel mine move early as my placenta is on the front of my belly or something they said anterior placenta but I also have a low pappA which is ment to mean low birth weight or a premature labour I regret googling in but midwife said no it's just a case of more scans. But I didnt get what was wrong in your case but what ever it is I hope all works out just fine Flowers

kkr168 · 23/06/2020 09:29

I feel like I've not been on here forever!!
I will scroll back today & read all the posts that I've missed.
@Amyyy1 I felt really sick Sunday, it hit me out of no where, hoping it was a 1 off (again)
@Sjakabfi it looks like a boy to me, mine looks similar, I'm still not 100% convinced it wasn't the umbilical cord though 🤣 I'm hoping they will confirm either way at my 20 week scan, in 3 weeks. My placenta is also anterior, my midwife said I might not feel movements until upto 24 weeks pregnant. I'm sure I felt movement when I was in bed a few days ago, but it was as I was drifting off, so could have been my imagination playing tricks on me.
