Interesting to see how accurate the nub expert guesses are! Honestly dont worry about the baby not playing ball with the positions the sonographer are good at finding the angles and very patient. Found out I'm having a girl despite all the boy predictions Grin

MummyShark97 · 14/06/2020 19:33

@Dee96 that's good to know!

I have been feeling girl all along but it will be a funny/lovely surprise if I'm wrong, all part of such a special journey !

ChampooPapi · 14/06/2020 20:22

@MummyShark97 you are sooo having a girl 🙏

I mean I am the mighty gender guessing coin flipper after all. If I'm nothing else, I am that! 😏

I'm getting so excited about seeing everyones gender scans 💗 we need this in between to keep us all going until the twenty week ones!

Has everyone got their date sorted for those ones now?

And after those if anyone's got any finished nurseries we can have a good old oogle of those too 🧐😍

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 14/06/2020 20:37

Although I know a lot of us won't be attempting those for a good few months, if at all, so many of us may not have the space or inclination.

But if anyone does have any decorating baby lushness please share, I absolutely love seeing it and although I'm not decorating, I will certainly be titivating like mad pre baby. That is 100 percent one of the out and out joys, the pre baby organization and tidying, so satisfying 🤤

ChampooPapi · 14/06/2020 20:43

Especially satisfying when you make your partner clean out the shed, loft or garage in the name of 'the new impending baby'

(insert evil laugh here)

@Dee96 I had a scan yesterday and they confirmed we're having a boy! Baby was super active, it was amazing to see and he has changed so much since the 12 week scan, can't wait to start feeling movements now.

EithneBlue · 14/06/2020 21:00

Southmead hospital have just announced that partners will now be allowed in the dating scan, but not the 20 week scan -- they will not be making exceptions for partners who were not allowed in the dating scan.

Am I being unreasonable in drafting a strongly worded email to PALS about the mental health implications of excluding a whole group of people from seeing their own child and being part of his/her medical care?

lc86 · 14/06/2020 21:32

@ChampooPapi I had DH sorting the garage and do a tip run on Thursday 🤣

peachypetite · 14/06/2020 21:41

@EithneBlue that makes no sense to me. Either partners are allowed or they aren’t! I am London based and not expecting my husband to be allowed in. Scan 10 July.

EithneBlue · 14/06/2020 21:44

I had no problem with it when the rules applied to everyone but now I have to sit in a waiting room for my 20 week scan with couples?! Not cool. My scan is on 8th July and I fully expected to attend alone but I really really don't want to watch other people be allowed to have partners :-(

lc86 · 14/06/2020 21:48

@EithneBlue the 20 week scan is just as important as they check that everything is well with the baby, I totally understand where you're coming from! I don't think my hospital will be changing their rules for a long time xx

kkr168 · 14/06/2020 22:06

@EithneBlue I agree with peachypetite that either all partners should be welcome or none at all. Our hospital is still saying no partners at scans, I am hoping that will have changed by 14th July (my 20 week scan) so that my dh can attend with me, if he's not allowed we will probably book a private 4d scan.

The nub whisperer predicted I'm having a girl, at my 16 week scan I was told boy, so that's 2 of us she has got wrong. Although I'm still not 100% convinced I'm having a boy! I'm wondering if it could have been cord they saw? I don't know, this pregnancy just felt so different that I'd convinced myself it was a girl. Guess I'll find out for definite at the 20 week scan.

ChampooPapi · 14/06/2020 22:21

@NatalieH2220 arhhh, lovely news on your scan. A baby boy 👣💞

@lc86 haha, brilliant! After the baby all the inclination disapears and the newborn becomes the obsession so we need our men to do multiple tip runs before this nesting is over! The list grows for my partner, I have added 'tiling a kitchen splash-back', which I somehow shoehorned the baby into in some way 😏

Do we rate these ladies? Or are they just silly expensive and you can do the same thing with a much cheaper feeding pillow 🤷‍♀️

I just used a v pillow and normal pillows for my other two feeling wise but definitely want to get a more supportive one for the twin situation

@kkr168 what angle did they use to identify the baby was male? Mine went from below the baby and pointed it out with a little arrow and some text so we can see pretty much crystal clear the lack of male private parts but I've seen scan videos where the sonographer used a side profile to see which way the genetalia

Dee96 · 14/06/2020 22:33

Is angled. What I did because i was in so much shock was looked up other 16 week scan photos to compare and it became quite obvious what a boy vs girl looks like

kkr168 · 14/06/2020 22:58

@Dee96 it was a potty shot, I have an anterior placenta & his bottom was up in the air pointing towards the placenta. I have read online they should do a side profile & potty shot, but they definitely only did a potty shot. I paid £20 for a video copy of the scan, I can't see the umbilical cord anywhere on the scan, so am thinking it's possible it was going between its legs. I'll just have to wait & see, doesn't matter either way, as long as the baby is healthy.

excitednerves · 15/06/2020 04:01

@ChampooPapi I have the bb hug me and I love it. My DS was a preemie, only 4lbs when he was born. I had one of the C shape pillows and he just kept slipping between it and my body. The bbhugme is like a beanbag so it moulds to your body shape and you can make it firmer or softer depending on the angle you need baby at. Also the washable cover was a godsend with my refluxy baby. I also used it for tummy time and to keep his head elevated after a feed. I’ve taken it to cafes, cinema, on holiday in its little travel bag too. It still looks brand new for number 2.

Fredthespider · 15/06/2020 07:21

@EithneBlue I saw that on Friday and was gutted! I misread the post first time and thought OH could come. I’m really hoping they change their minds, especially for those who fall in the gap where they couldn’t come to 12 week scans. Mine is there on the 9th July.

ChampooPapi · 15/06/2020 08:38

@excitednerves yes it does look really practical. I've been looking at the harmony twin feeding pillow, which is 85 pounds! But there are a few knocking about on eBay for like a fiver so could get both and see how they go ☺️

I brought my buggy yesterday a little early then I'd like but it was a Gumtree situation and in Southampton where my brother in law lives so he is collecting it for us.

I'll post a picture, got it for 250 with the rain cover which considering that would have been nearly 700 pounds is a steal. Latest model too and less then a year old, from a childminder so fab condition & obviously will wash every part within an inch of its life!

I will need a basinet or two but you can get them fairly cheap for mountain buggy, even the new ones that slide in on top of the reclined seat instead of cliping on are fine.

I still hold out hope the one I have fits on it but after litrally hours of research I am still non the wiser 😅

Obviously these are pictures from john Lewis ect, I can't seem to download the advert

That’s brilliant @champoopapi! Well done on that find! I think I’ve been swayed from the bugaboo back to the mountainbuggy because of how easy it folds. I don’t love the idea of new baby being forward facing when he/she goes into the pushchair but it’s not the end of the world. I think DS only parent faced for a few months. Plus I think parent facing pushchairs is quite a new thing, isn’t it? Lots of people my mums age seem very impressed with it so I assume it wasn’t around when we were kids. Who knows?

ChampooPapi · 15/06/2020 08:55

@excitednerves if you get the carrycot plus then it folds up to a backward facing seat for a mountain buggy. I'll link you 👍

uk.mountainbuggy.com/products/carrycot-plus-for-urban-jungle-terrain-and-one

You can get them for all their buggies now. The carrycot plus is from 0-3 years and the seat it comes with it from 6 months to 4 years (depending on weight)

Here are pictures to illustrate. They can also be brought second hand and you can replace the matress and sheet as mountain buggy sell all that gubbins ☺️
