I ate some prepacked melon from co op and now I am worried after looking online you shouldn’t because of listeria, would you worry? ☹️

peachypetite · 13/06/2020 08:09

@confused107 welcome, I got the same pillow as @kkr168 and love it.

peachypetite · 13/06/2020 08:09

@Babyhope98 honestly I wouldn’t. The risk is tiny.

RunnerGirl123 · 13/06/2020 08:30

@Babyhope98 please only check the NHS list of foods to avoid if you are in the UK, this represents our food standards here and is most relevant for us. It is also really clear, so there's no confusion. You'll be fine with pre-packaged melon, any risk will be tiny.

RunnerGirl123 · 13/06/2020 08:37

@Snowwhite2020 thank you for your message, and reassurance of the wait and see decision. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well, but yay for Maccy's fries! Are you being supported with any medication?

@Confused107 thank you and welcome! Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a journey to get here. I think it's perfectly normal to still be a little hesitant after a long journey but glad to hear you're starting to feel a little more excited too. Everyone here is really understanding and has great advice whether it's about worries, baby items and baby advice or just ranting about those pesky oh's and we're all here for you!

roro87 · 13/06/2020 09:21

@RunnerGirl123 so sorry I didn't say anything I hadn't gone through the whole thread when I posted. I really hope everything works out and I definitely think the wait and see approach is best. my partners sister was told her baby had 15% chance at life and abortion recommended. He is a happy perfect two year old. Hope you and OH are doing as well as you can. you are in my thoughts

Snowwhite2020 · 13/06/2020 09:24

🙋🏻‍♀️ @RunnerGirl123 yes I’m on medication and have been for most of the pregnancy now really... I’ve tried weaning myself off but it just results in very bad sickness so it’s best to stay on it for now Xx

RunnerGirl123 · 13/06/2020 09:25

Thanks @Roro87. We haven't really been given any information about chance of survival and I think that's what I'm struggling with - hopefully we will know more at the 20 week scan. Thank you for the positive story, it helps me feel a little less crazy for holding onto some hope.

RunnerGirl123 · 13/06/2020 09:30

@snowwhite2020 ah, I'm glad you're getting some help. Really hoping it's not around for the whole of your pregnancy for you. Sending virtual hugs your way

Snowwhite2020 · 13/06/2020 09:42

@RunnerGirl123 thank you! It has been really rather grim and all in its been... 11 weeks of throwing up? When else in life would we tolerate that?! I guess none of us can choose our pregnancy journeys and my thoughts are with you 💕

Bobbieblu · 13/06/2020 10:04

Just been catching up and on the thread news, so much has happened over the last week!

@nearlyamummyof3 so pleased that the procedure went well, what a nerve-wracking time it must have been. Hope the house hunt is going well.

@RunnerGirl123 sending lots of positive vibes your way and got my fingers crossed that it’s good news at your next scan.

@confused107 welcome to the thread! I’m an Ivfer too and completely understand anxiety after a long battle to get here.

@Snowwhite2020 I’m still being sick too 🤢, it’s starting to get really boring! I’m starting to be sick slightly less often and so hoping that it will eventually pass. I really hope you feel better soon.

Sorry if I’ve missed a anyone’s news, the thread moves so fast, it’s impossible to keep up!

My next scan is 5weeks away which feels like ages! Does anyone have their 20week scan coming up soon?

My first attempt at maternity clothes arrived yesterday, and most of them will be going back... Did anyone find any good maternity jeans??

Bobbieblu · 13/06/2020 10:09

Also, a bit of a twin specific question... hoping to co-sleep the twins at least at the beginning. Does anyone have any recommendations for a next to me crib that would fit 2 babies comfortably? I might be better off asking on a more twin specific thread but just thought I would run it past you wise ladies first!

excitednerves · 13/06/2020 10:16

@bobbieblu I also need some new maternity jeans. Mine were from Next last time as I needed a short length but keen to hear where other people have got theirs from. ASOS didn’t fit me well last time but I’ve heard good things about Topshop (plus they have a sale on) H&M and New Look

confused107 · 13/06/2020 10:25

I just brought these from Dotty P's. It's too early for me to wear them, but I was ordering a dress for a funeral and couldn't resist them for £9. I'm along way off needing them but they feel comfortable enough and not too long. I'm only 5 foot 3 and a bit

EithneBlue · 13/06/2020 10:49

@Bobbieblu - I have some jeans from Dorothy Perkins that are currently too big (but I can tell they'll probably fit when I'm a little bigger so did not send them back) - my current favourite maternity jeans took me by surprise: they arrived in a 'size 10-12' bundle that I bought on ebay -- they're under-bump jeans from Topshop and are a size 8: I looked at them in horror when they arrived because they look tiny, but they're actually a perfect fit. I don't think they'll quite last the full pregnancy, but they've definitely got a few months of fit left in them for me :) I never would have even looked at Topshop normally: I think I was about 17 last time I shopped there!
The only issue I have had with all Maternity clothes is the same as I have with normal clothes: I'm short, so I will be spending a couple of hours at my sewing machine taking up the hems... and my jeans are always rolled up ;)

My 20 week scan is on 8th July so only 3 weeks after my "16 week" appointment (which is a telephone call on Tuesday)

ChampooPapi · 13/06/2020 11:28

Welcome to the thread @confused107 and congratulations on your pregnancy 💞👣

@Snowwhite2020 oh God that is just so bloody hard still suffering so much from neseua and sickness. Stay on those meds, just stay on the things if they even help a little bit for the rest of the pregnancy. I know that beyond 20 weeks can be a turning point for some women even with hypermesis so we can live in hope for you lovely that it does improve, even a little would really do you a lot of favours, it's just awful and so draining. But yes, we are half way through nearly 🙌 and the green pastures of new baby land and having our bodies back to a solo entity that is not basically being poisoned by the hormones and sapped of all goodness by the baby creature itself! You are going to feel amazing once that baby is out trust me! It'll literally dissapear straight after you have had the baby, you will be strong again 💪♀️🤗

Creeping towards those bump shots ladies!

Hey @Bobbieblu. I think the snuzkot could do you as it is bigger, or put them both straight into a cot that has a higher setting for the matress. Any next to me cribs are going to be that standard size I imagine but I know people do top and tail them. Advise is to sleep them separately if you can as they wake each other up. So you could try a next to me for one and a Moses basket for the other initially for the first month or so to see how you get on.

One may end up sleeping in bed with you and one in the next to me anyway, co sleeping sometimes just kind of happens when they are very small.

I will post the NHS twin sleeping guidelines and help page

@Bobbieblu so just found this so perhaps definitely don't out them both in a next to me crib! Look for an actual cot or potentially getting two Moses baskets or two next to me cribs ☺️

It's safe for twins to sleep together in one cot in the early weeks and months. You do need to use a cot, though. It's not safe to put your twins together in a Moses basket, small crib or carrycot, as they may overheat in the confined space

@champoopapi thank lovely 🌈

ChampooPapi · 13/06/2020 11:51

This is also very informative @Bobbieblu, it does say when they can roll potentially put them into a separate cot as they can roll onto the other and restrict their airway. But people have been sleeping them together safely for many years, just make sure you check the correct guidelines and obviously next to me cribs are not safe for both of them to be in. Only use an actual cot

@Bobbieblu so absolutely do not co bed twins once they are rolling.

Obviously toddlers can sleep together though 🙂

Thank you @champiopapi !!! Really helpful information, I just didn’t know where to start and so I’ll have proper read through later.

Once again I’m overwhelmed by the support from this thread. You guys are all awesome, thank you!!
