@runnergirl123 will have everything crossed still for you and pray all goes ok with bubba I had my downs letter today and am classed as low risk so that has helped my anxeity a bit but no blood results back yet is that normal???

Pinktruffle · 12/06/2020 13:38

@kj1010 I got my Downs screening results within a week but I'm still waiting for blood test results over 3 weeks later!

Kj1010 · 12/06/2020 13:46

@pinktruffle ahh ok thanks for letting me know

RestorationInsanity · 12/06/2020 13:55

I seem to be getting my blood results in dribs and drabs. Had downs etc results early this week, then today the result of the rhesus antibody test (I'm negative and have been pregnant before, but had the jab after the surgery) but apparently baby is "predicted" to be negative, so I don't need one this time! I want to confirm with the midwife how accurate the results are as I'm not taking any risks!

peachypetite · 12/06/2020 14:06

I didn’t get any results from my blood samples, but my midwife said you’d only be contacted if there was something to worry about, if not discuss at 16 week appointment. Seems to be very different depending on which hospital you fall under. It’s only four weeks until my 20 week scan which feels quite soon!

RestorationInsanity · 12/06/2020 14:10

@peachypetite that's exciting! I've got my 16 week call coming up soon but still haven't heard about 20 week scan appt so hoping that comes through soon.

Pinktruffle · 12/06/2020 14:18

@peachypetite I have my 16 week appointment on Tuesday and a private reassurance scan next week, then my 20 week scan on 13th July. I night finally start to tell people once that is out of the way, all being well of course.

peachypetite · 12/06/2020 14:18

After all the cock ups at the start I was very relieved that at the end of my 12 week I went to the reception and picked the time and date of the 20 week, with the receptionist. I think I’m the first appointment of the day which is so much better for my anxiety.

kkr168 · 12/06/2020 14:45

Do we think partners will be allowed to attend the 20 week scan?
Mine is the 14th july, surely if bars, restaurants, theme parks can re-open then our partners should be able to attend.

I was quite annoyed at my private scan, my DH couldn't attend as he didn't finish work in time, so I asked for the gender to be put in an envelope so we could open it & find out together. They told me to close my eyes whilst they did the potty shot, then both laughed & said "wow you cant miss that", which to me made it very clear he was a boy. He was in prime position for a gender scan, face buried in my back, bum up in the air with his legs wide open, just meant we couldn't get a great picture of his face during the 4d sneak peak

RestorationInsanity · 12/06/2020 15:04

I hate to be doom and gloom, but my view is they won't change anything that's not material to our care for the foreseeable future. It would be too challenging to make changes, then have to change things back if there is an increase in cases either nationally or in a specific area. It's much easier for them to just implement a blanket rule for a longer period of time.

RestorationInsanity · 12/06/2020 15:05

Oh and is it just me not planning to find out the sex of the baby before the birth? You'll all be waiting a while to see if the guesses were right!

110APiccadilly · 12/06/2020 15:44

@RunnerGirl123 I hope it goes well for you and little one.

I don't think they'll be letting partners in yet (but then I'm in Wales and we're still not allowed to travel out of our "local area" for anything, so I may have a skewed view).

I'm not planning to find out the sex till birth. (Takes away the pressure to buy pink/blue stuff as well. Not that there's anything wrong with those, but I like neutral colours, so it's good to have the excuse for them!)

RunnerGirl123 · 12/06/2020 15:53

Thanks all. The hospital rang, they said they're still classing me as 15 weeks today and I'll have my anomaly scan at 20 weeks with fetal medicine. We're planning to find out the sex, and I was thinking of doing this at a private scan so OH can be involved, but may now just wait the 5 weeks as I don't want extra stress with a private clinic giving their views on the cyst and head size and causing any extra worry - then we can get a private scan after the anomaly scan if everything looks ok so that OH can see baby then.

peachypetite · 12/06/2020 15:54

I’m in London and not expecting my husband to be allowed in. If he is that’s a bonus but at the end of the day it’s a medical scan to check the health of the baby and he will be right there outside waiting for me. I’m not finding out the sex, I know @EithneBlue isn’t either, she described it as reading the ending of the book early Grin. I also think it will mean my mum having to resist buying mountains of pink for a girl too!!

Kj1010 · 12/06/2020 16:02

@runnergirl123 everything crossed for u I'm just over a week behind you I dont think I cud wait to find out at the end lol to impatient I asked the midwife at the hospital what are the chances of partners being allowed in and all she said if things change we will let you know so I am debating wether to have a private scan to find out before my 20 week one so oh can see

firstbabybell · 12/06/2020 16:18

@runnergirl123 that sounds positive doesn't it?

@restorationinsanity we're not finding out either. Although I think it's a blue one! 💙 The temptation to find out is really strong though... 😬

NaomiB79 · 12/06/2020 16:20

We have just booked a private scan near where I live so that me and my partner can find out the gender at the same time and he can see the baby. The private scan places up here in Edinburgh have been closed but are re-opening in the next few weeks. Our appointment is after my 20 week NHS scan where I was going to find out the gender but I’ll wait now so we can do it together at the private scan. I’m not that confident that they’ll change things soon but fingers crossed! 🤞

excitednerves · 12/06/2020 16:35

Wow such a lot has gone on since I last read this thread. Thinking of those who have had/having a worrying time. Keeping everything crossed for you @RunnerGirl123

@nearlyamummyof3 did you still go to see your house today? I’m not sure if you’re just resting. We did see ours and had an offer accepted! I hope yours went well if you did go. X

Pinktruffle · 12/06/2020 16:37

That sounds fairly positive to me @RunnerGirl123, you will continue to be in my thoughts.

We are not finding out the gender. I always said I would never find out, but after a difficult journey to ge here, now I'm actually pregnant, I'm really tempted! DH is adamant about it being a surprise so I'll refrain from finding out. I do have a strong preference as to what gender I want so I think it will be better for it to be a surprise.
Gender neutral clothes are surprisingly difficult to find, I feel like we are one of the only couples not finding out!

Icantthinkofanickname123456 · 12/06/2020 16:47

@NaomiB79 @kkr168 My OH and I have also booked a private gender scan too. I think it was £59 which isn't cheap but we have saved a fair amount of money on not having to commute into work everyday and with me not drinking at all. The clinic by us is still open and so we are going to go when I reach 17 weeks (this Thursday) so we get to find out together and OH can see baby moving around. I suspect partners being allowed in scans will happen soon but will likely be area specific and I'm not gambling on it happening in my area any time soon. I saw an article the other day that Croydon University Hospital will be allowing birth partners to stay for the whole time from the 15th June but no news that I can find about scans. www.mylondon.news/news/south-london-news/big-change-croydon-university-hospital-18411694

roro87 · 12/06/2020 16:52

I have booked a private gender scan in two weeks also but mine is 150 euro which isn't cheap at all. At least my partner will be able to come along also and get the experience. can't wait to find out

RestorationInsanity · 12/06/2020 17:07

@RunnerGirl123 the uncertainty must be so hard, but I'll be keeping everything crossed for you for that scan.

Sounds like there are a few of us who will be getting a surprise!

My DH wanted to know, and I didn't, and as he won't be able to come to the scan I've said I'm not going to find out. I'd like him to be the one to tell me when baby arrives if it's a boy or a girl!

I definitely have thought boy from the beginning, but lots of people who've seen the scan (including some of you I think) think girl! So I'll just have to wait and see! I've definitely got a longer list of girls names than boys!

excitednerves · 12/06/2020 17:12

I had a surprise with my first baby and it was lovely! I’m finding out for this one though - mostly so I’ll know if I should give away all my blue stuff of keep it for number 2!

Icantthinkofanickname123456 · 12/06/2020 18:03

I suspect whatever I have they will be dressed largely in "boys" clothing, as I just love a fish themed onesie! I hope finding out will help us with names though as we are floundering a little at the moment!

@roro87 wow that is a tad more expensive than by me. Its crazy there is such a variation in the cost of these things!

@RunnerGirl123 I've only just caught up on the thread fully - sending lots of love and hope your way.

roro87 · 12/06/2020 18:08

I have a girls name picked out but we just can't settle on a boys so if we find out and it is girl we are sorted.
