Not being sick just feeling v nauseous from about 5.30pm and can’t stomach thought of food.

Pe4nutsmum · 08/06/2020 20:38

@ChampooPapi and @awkes

Thank you so much for the advice, I had no idea, brilliant ill wait and see how baby takes to things and buy then.

I'm am a crazy person and like to have e everything organised and done. This advice has helped me amazingly. I have spend days reading reviews and advice. This has been the best thank you ladies for taking the time to reply.

@ChampooPapi are you using a snuz instead of a moses basket or both?, xxx

ChampooPapi · 08/06/2020 20:52

@Pe4nutsmum yes the pumping is often just another job that we feel we have to do, but do we really have to do it? If your not working and can be at home, then they have very minimal use. Life is too short to pump in those early days unless you absolutely have too. I had a hand held one with my first and have to say, I rated it more then the electric Medela, obviously it was faster but I wasn't a cow that needed milking in a certain time frame! The electric was used a maximum of three times, for no reason then to test it. I never actually used and ended up feeding a baby with the bottled breast milk 😂.

I know some people do like to freeze it and of you plan on having a hectic social existance or are working a fair amount then it's obviously really useful and you wouldn't want to live without a pump in those circumstances.

Oh the snuzpod, Well I should say the snuzpods 🙄. I use them instead of a Moses basket, I never actually had a Moses basket with either of my other girls. I had sleepy heads as well as the buggy basinet for day naps downstairs. I feel like with the snuzpod and a basinet that is enough snuggle places for a newborn to sleep.

I do like the look of an old fashioned Moses basket on a stand though, very cute indeed ☺️

I think knowing your having two helps the spending splurging because as soon as your tempted you remember, oh shit, I'd have to buy two of them! Hell no

So sorry to everyone still feeling fairly crap. Pregnancy is not actually very good is it? There are certain highs, but babies are soo much better then the actual process of growing them. To be honest the whole thing is barbaric.

I can only hope that passing 16 weeks it really will start to ease, but the food aversions often stay as well as the heads, and the bone tiredness. It's a physical feat that is for certain, women are heros 💖♀️

Awkes · 08/06/2020 21:05

@Pe4nutsmum can’t say I really know anything about it ie how well it works but I have seen this haaka. It’s like a bottle but with a head that latches to your boob. Apparently when you feed with one side the other will leak also..this haaka thing is supposed to get what leaks.
I’m taking as long as I can maternity so no pressure for me to pump but I will maybe get one if all goes to plan so OH can have some feeding/bonding time. Don’t know if this would fit your situation also but thought I’d mention it

ChampooPapi · 08/06/2020 21:06

Gah! They do them in different colours!

I'm lost to a little green sheep rabbit hole now ladies

@ChampooPapi we're getting a Snuzkot for bedside and a Moses basket for downstairs. No logic for the Moses basket except I think they're beautiful! 😂 How many decisions will I make with my hormones????

ChampooPapi · 08/06/2020 21:30

@RestorationInsanity the lady has taste 🙏😆 I am now backpedaling looking at those Moses baskets and envisioning matching ones side by side in my living room....swoon. I must be strong and take my own advise, I certainly will not need them with two basinets as well as 2 x sleepy heads and 2 x snuzpod.

And yet she starts typing little green sheep back into the search engine in a hormonal trance 🥰🤤

@ChampooPapi I think I really love this moses basket for down stairs.

I've no experience with a snuz, do you find it hard to sleep with little one so close to you, can you relax enough to sleep xxx

@Pe4nutsmum That's the one I have!

peachypetite · 09/06/2020 07:17

I’m a bit confused about all the different sleeping options! Snuzpod bedside crib looks great for upstairs but what about downstairs? Those Moses baskets are lovely but so many threads on here suggest the baby outgrows it in weeks.

NatalieH2220 · 09/06/2020 07:34

We didn't bother with a Moses basket and had a next to me upstairs which was great. Downstairs we got a tiny love rocker napper which worked well for naps in the day.

EithneBlue · 09/06/2020 08:20

I'm borrowing a crib from a friend for the bedroom - just need to get the mattress for it :) I am also looking at getting a pram with a carrycot suitable for sleeping for downstairs: if it's got to be bought anyway, might as well be useful...

I actually bought my first 'baby thing' yesterday: a set of 11 reusable nappies on ebay. My husband was so unconvinced by reusable nappies until I showed him a cost chart for disposables (and pointed out that our rubbish only gets collected once a fortnight so if he wants a bin full of dirty nappies in the garden that's cool, but washing them seems infinitely less disgusting) - plus it's better for the environment :-)

firstbabybell · 09/06/2020 09:02

@eithneblue can you share what sorry of nappies they are please? Would be keen to find out more about reusable...

roro87 · 09/06/2020 09:03

I was going to get the Maxi Cosi co sleeper as it folds down to nothing but really like the snuzpod too. I have a tiny tiny house more like two bed flat so we are tight on space so may just have that and pram but hear really good things about the 4 in 1 hug. really I don't want too much. I already have a dog who loves toys and spend my time picking them up after her

ChampooPapi · 09/06/2020 09:13

@peachypetite yes Moses baskets are fairly useless now we all have basinets for our buggies that we can detach and usually last up to 5/6 months. Where as Moses baskets you'll usually only get a few months out of, depending on size. But they are lovely and if you've got the space and don't want to detach your basinet from the buggy to bring into the living room they do have a use.

You really can survive with minimal that is certain. Or you can go mad and love all the gadgets and various options. Often you find a healthy in-between balance.

@Pe4nutsmum trust me you'll definitely fall asleep! However close they are once your in a pattern of feed and snooze, feed and snooze. It pretty much works like clockwork, and your body just follows babies suit. Also you don't have to have the snuzpod next to the bed. You can zip up the sides and have it at the end of the bed instead. In fact you have to do this if you have a c section for the first six weeks I think as you cant get out of the bed otherwise!

chubbyhotchoc · 09/06/2020 09:15

I think I'm just going to use the pram downstairs and a next to the bed crib ( not sure which one yet. I had the nct one last time but think there's more choice now). @EithneBlue I salute you. There's no way I could cope with washing nappies on top of all the other washing babies generate.

chubbyhotchoc · 09/06/2020 09:23

@ChampooPapi I know bugger all about having twins but out of curiosity do they not recommend putting them in a crib together? I would have thought they'd settle better together or is it not considered safe?

ChampooPapi · 09/06/2020 10:04

chubbyhotchoc you can do both separate sleeping or together. But the problem is that with two babies comes the fact that they take up twice the amount of space so they'd end up growing out of the next to me at like 3 months. Finding the second hand snuz for 15 pounds kind of made my decision as they can both be in those till nearly six months then I may even put them on a double matress together on the floor until I can elevate it at a safe sleeping age. I have those side bits that attach to beds for 18 months and above. I did a full cott with my first, my my last never went into a cot, straight from snuz to single matress on the floor, then at 18 months we did a swap round with my other daughter and now my toddlers in a double bed in her room.

You just do what works for you, and having a cot really worked with our first but being able to go into our other daughter and settler her in the single, and then double bed worked well for us this time.

You definitely do slightly different things each time, I think it makes sense to swap the girls from separate sleeping initially to potentially ending up in the double we have already.

I'll put the toddler back in the single then and the eldest can have a brand new bed ☺️

It's musical beds basically for the next 5 years 😆

@firstbabybell - The ones I've just bought are Little Lamb with the separate wrap (plus one Tots Bots Newborn Peenut wrap thrown in for good measure) - but there seems to be a lot of choice! You could just buy a couple of each type and try them to see what you like? I'm not doing that because I don't want the hassle of shopping with baby screaming in my face and I can always sell on any that I don't like.

@chubbyhotchoc - Haha - ask me again in November, when I'm drowning in baby washing - I might have changed my mind! ;) In theory, though, for me the benefits seem to outweigh the negative - especially in terms of cost: I can afford to use disposables, but honestly I'd rather spend that money on something more fun (like a holiday, because I'm still bitter that my last one was cancelled) :)

Hi all feeling very nervous now I have my scan in a hour and 20 minutes my stomach is doing massive turns had a very scary bad dream last night which ended in no sleep really up at 5.30 for work so tired aswell my dream felt so real I thought I miss carried last night and wrapped it in tissue even woke oh up to ask did I do that as felt so real will be glad to see that all is ok then maybe I can start to think about bits and Bob's I will need to start getting

RunnerGirl123 · 09/06/2020 13:48

Good luck Kj1010 with your scan. Bad dreams are awful and so hard to shake off but try to put it to the back of your mind - it's probably more your anxieties coming through while you're sleeping. Let us know how the scan goes!
