I've mentioned this a few times now, but I'm being driven mad! Is anybody else having issues with their lady parts or is it JUST me???

Tiniestsky · 06/06/2020 15:54

😩 why do I feel so crappy?!?
I can't even pinpoint what's wrong really, I feel tired and lazy, my stomach is churning and achy including around baby area and I've got a god awful taste and feeling in my mouth that I can't shift..... send help, I can't find my glow

TeddyTMP · 06/06/2020 16:02

@Tiniestsky I'm feeling exactly the same! 16+3 and hoped to be feeling much better by now xx

Pink15 · 06/06/2020 16:18

@SqidgeBum have you discussed with your midwife about a home birth but my impression from posters on the wall at my scan was that you had to have had a straight forward birth to be eligible?

@HarrietM87 wow that's quick! How long does it take to call a midwife and for them to arrive though ? It it could be a short time actually might be safer to drive to a hospital?

Tiniestsky · 06/06/2020 16:20

@TeddyTMP it's weird how some days are worse than other, I don't have anything to compare this to just hoping it's all normal. Feeling crap I can deal with, it's the aching around the uterus that worries me. I know ligament pain is normal but it doesn't seem to ease up, it's not painful as such, just tender.
I'm 16+5 so pretty close to you, got a private scan on Tuesday 🤞🏻

60sPony · 06/06/2020 16:26

@HarrietM87 sounds like I’m similar to you - was induced two weeks overdue then he was here in under 4 hours. Don’t want a home birth - my hospital has a lovely birth centre which I used once in active labour last time. So hoping I don’t have an accidental home birth. With my hospital don’t think they even discuss place of birth until about 30 weeks.

Pushingnic · 06/06/2020 17:16

Hi 👋

Just want to join in on this thread if that’s ok. I’m 17+1 today due 13th November. Will just be nice having people to talk to and going through the same things.

This will be my second baby after my 7 year old son (so literally cannot remember much about his pregnancy lol) and a traumatic miscarriage at 12 weeks last October. Praying everything goes well this time!

SqidgeBum · 06/06/2020 17:30

Ye I have spoken to midwives (my midwife is shielding so is not existent and i haven't been given another) and they said if I had an instrumental on the last one for the reasons I did I can still have a home birth. If there was a issue with labour not progressing I can be transferred. My hospital is a 5 minute drive on a normal day, 3-4 minutes in a rush. I will think about it more as I know I have til about 34 weeks to decide properly and get things organised.

Fouryearslater · 06/06/2020 17:36

I can’t help but think about the mess 😄

After the traumatic labour and emergency c section last time, I wouldn’t consider it this time round. I’m not convinced I’m actually capable of a virginal birth so will probably opt for another section anyway, but I wouldn’t want the additional trauma/stress of being blue lighted (although I’ve never been in an ambulance 🤔)

wannabebump · 06/06/2020 17:36

I hadn't really given much thought to home birth to be honest - I'm quite an anxious person and I'm FTM. At the moment, I'm not high risk, but I think I'd rather be in a hospital setting for peace of mind.

When's everyone's 20 week scan? Must be some coming up now! X

I’m going for a homebirth this time. Had a quick labour with my first and I’d like to avoid the stress of rushing to sort childcare for my daughter if I labour quickly. Also you can plan for a homebirth and change your mind and transfer in at any point. It just gives more flexibility than delivering fast at home and instead having paramedics sent out (my worst nightmare!).

I think it sounds like a great idea @sqidgebum. Statistically for you (if no bad tear, big bleed last time) it’s as safe as a hospital for you and baby and it would give you more autonomy and control of your environment, if that’s something that was lacking last time.

Interestingly, homebirth rates have shot up in our area with the onset of Covid. It will be very interesting to see if it continues and sways the general public opinion of them.

Hancock2020 · 06/06/2020 17:40

I'm quite happy with my c sections, I know some people say you haven't done it properly so you're not a "proper mum" but I dont care. After nearly dying trying to give birth to my son I'm quite happy not to push tbh.

AnneFTM · 06/06/2020 17:47

@wannabebump I have my 20 week scan on 19th June - I can't wait to see baby again. Very nervous about it but excited too Smile. When is yours?

Hancock2020 · 06/06/2020 17:48

@wannabebump my 20 week scan is 7th of july so ages away yet. But I've got a private one booked next sunday, I can't wait to see DH's face when he gets to see our jellybean 🥰

HarrietM87 · 06/06/2020 17:50

@60sPony that’s really interesting. I’ve asked them if the speed was due to the induction or if it would have been fast anyway, and they say could have been either basically. My mum’s labour with me was 5 hours which is quick for a first time, and then she had sections after that for other reasons (breech and twins) so can’t compare.

The issue for me is that I have to change hospital if I go for a homebirth, and I really don’t like the other hospital, so it’s not as straightforward as book a homebirth and then go in if you can. I wish I could just do that! But I would seriously not want to go in to the other hospital if I could avoid it. We can decide up to 36 weeks but if you go homebirth then you get all your antenatal appointments at home too so it’s nicer to do it sooner.

Pink15 · 06/06/2020 17:50

@Pushingnic welcome 👋🏼

@SqidgeBum fair enough makes sense being 5 mins from the hospital to try it if you want :)

wannabebump · 06/06/2020 17:52

@AnneFTM that's soon! Are you excited or nervous? Mine is 29th, but I have a gender scan just before that as this trust area doesn't give any gender at the 20 week scan, and then DH can go too which will be great. I suspect I'm measuring ahead as well x

OP posts:
HarrietM87 · 06/06/2020 17:54

@AnneFTM mine is on 19 June too!

SqidgeBum · 06/06/2020 17:57

My 20 week scan is the 16th of june. Not far at all. I feel ok about it. I am sure I will get a bit nervous before it as it is the anomaly scan.

wannabebump · 06/06/2020 18:00

@SqidgeBum I think I'm a bit nervous about mine already x

OP posts:
Addler · 06/06/2020 18:37

Mine's not until the 16th of July 😔

SMcG1 · 06/06/2020 19:14

@SqidgeBum I don’t plan on having a homebirth as this is my first and I live about 25 minutes from the hospital so would be worried about something going wrong. Even if I did want to, home births in my area have been cancelled at the moment due to covid so it’s not an option at the moment anyway.

@Pink15 I will be doing perineal massage later in my pregnancy. I’m terrified of tearing badly so want to do everything possible to reduce the risk.

@wannabebump my 20 week scan is on Wednesday. Feels like it’s been so long since the last one! I can’t wait but I’m also quite nervous incase they find anything wrong.
I’ve also booked in for a private scan at 25 weeks so my boyfriend can come because I feel like he has had to miss out on everything so far which is a shame.

NatalieH2220 · 06/06/2020 19:46

Our nearest hospital is midwife led. The closest hospital with drs is 45 mins on a good day. Going to midwife only led makes me anxious but last time I arrived at the other hospital as I needed to push (contractions were not what I expected so didn't realise I was that far along!). Midwife basically said I probably wouldn't make it to the other hospital in time this time so highly recommends going to the local midwife led.

How does it work with home birth? Do you get one midwife?

My 20 week scan isn't until 8th July but I do have a private reassurance scan next Saturday.

HarrietM87 · 06/06/2020 20:05

@NatalieH2220 with home births you get one midwife who arrives in early stages and then a second arrives for the delivery. Sometimes obviously the second one doesn’t get there in time!

Wigglebum87 · 06/06/2020 20:20

Got my 20 week scan on the 22nd, feel like its still ages away! I was looking to book a private scan so my husband could come along as it is our first baby, but we cant get in until after the 20 week scan anyway. As I have low PAPP-A I have two extra scans booked in so hopefully he will be able to come to one of those Smile
