@Oldestchild90s thanks so much for asking about me, I feel a lot better in myself however I am still getting the back pain! I’ve got a growth scan with the head of fetal medicine on Tuesday to asses the babies bowel which could lead to me being induced early if the situation has gotten worse, and little man will need an operation (a small one) after birth to fix the dilated bowel, but I’m going to cross that bridge when it comes to it!
I then have my ultrasound x-ray scan on Wednesday to asses my kidneys to see if there are any kidney stones and asses what’s causing the pain and what started my contractions this time last week, and again if it is kidney stones they said they will likely induce me earlier than 40 weeks as they can not operate, laser or do anything about them really until babe has arrived. (And I’m in absolute agony in my back)

But all is well to be honest even after a long moan😂, a lot better than last week anyway Thankyou for asking 💜💜

Morning ladies.
I've just had a thought, should OH pack a small bag for the hospital with like a change or clothes, deodorant, snacks and stuff? & I'm guessing he'll not be able to actually stay if I have to but will he need stuff incase labour/delivery takes hours? Still holding out hope rules will be a bit more lax come August in regards to partners because being without him or him having to sit in the car park is going to be bit shit. We don't live near the hospital so it's not like he could just come home and wait for a call to say I'm officially in active Labour. Agh I need to get back to work to keep my brain from going crazy with what ifs 😂

Mummapenguin20 · 26/06/2020 11:55

@JMill13 ive packed oh a bag, t-shirt pants cool drinks(not packed those yet) light snacks tooth brush and paste phone charger and body spray x

squashie34 · 26/06/2020 12:10

@JMill13 yep my partner has a backpack.. which is essentially the home of all the snacks 😂 but I did leave him enough room for a spare change of clothes and pants, deodorant etc. Imagine if we are in labour in this heat they will be stinking! 🙈

2020Aug · 26/06/2020 12:34

@sel2223 I've got the coning and can actually feel my abs on the side if I tense then a squishy bit in the middle so I assume its happened. But sounds like it can repair itself so I'm keeping my fingers crossed all goes well after.

@JMill13 my DH has packed some spare clothes, deodrant etc.

Newmama29 · 26/06/2020 12:55

Hey guys, anyone experienced dull period type cramps? I’ve got slight cramps like I would get a few days before my period comes. It’s not like timed or anything, it’s just in the background, not painful enough for painkillers & baby has been moving around this morning. Just wondering if this is something to be concerned about? I hate phoning MAU 🙈

Firstmummytobe · 26/06/2020 13:05

@Newmama29 this could Just be a sign of your cervix dilating and preparing itself for labour, but that doesn’t mean labour is coming. It could just mean it’s a few weeks away 😊 (I’ve experienced the same thing a few weeks ago and called my midwife and that is what she advised me)

Newmama29 · 26/06/2020 13:11

@firstmummytobe oh I hope it’s not only a few weeks away, I’m only 31 weeks 🙈 I’ve been having terrible pains in my pelvis & hips (I have awful joints so had been expecting this in the 3rd trimester) so I’m hoping it’s just the muscles struggling from that! Thank you for your advice, if it continues for over 24 hours I’ll give my midwife or MAU a phone

Firstmummytobe · 26/06/2020 13:14

Yeah I hope not too😂🙈 I’m 35 weeks so a month ahead of you so that’s probably why!! Yeah if you have any concerns never worry about calling your MAU xx

Newmama29 · 26/06/2020 13:26

I think I’m just starting to overthink things 🙈 I have been so easy going during this pregnancy after my 12 week scan & I've had it very easy but the closer it gets to the due date the more my anxiety is creeping in! I’m not sure if it’s due to the lack of getting scans etc or just feeling like it’s all on my shoulders if anything is wrong & not wanting to ignore something, I’ll just be happy when he’s here 🤞🏼

Oldestchild90s · 26/06/2020 13:46

@Firstmummytobe Glad to hear things are better now. Good luck and keep us updated with everything!

Is everyone expecting to go to 40 weeks? All i keep thinking is 40 weeks = large baby = ouch 😂 literally need to calm myself down from all these silly worries!

JMill13 · 26/06/2020 13:53

I said to oh about a bag and he was like sure I can just go and come back... Em... Sorry babe but we're in the year of the rona, once you leave you ain't coming back 🙈 he was like oh yeah, duh.

Oh god I never even thought about the heat in the hospital. I may buy and pack a fan for OH, or he'll die.

What sort of snacks is everyone packing?

WorriedButterfly · 26/06/2020 13:56

@Newmama29 I had it Sunday and Monday, on Monday evening it became quite full on. But since then been much better. My lower back was achey too. I was 31 wks last Saturday. I didn't take anything but it was the type of pain that paracetamol May have helped, I put it down to ligament pain/ BH as I'd had a busy Sunday on the veg patch! Call If you need to though x

JMill13 · 26/06/2020 13:57

@oldestchild90 I keep thinking I'll go early but I have absolutely no reason for those thoughts except that my mum had all 3 of us super early. My friends 2 kids came a week or 2 over 40weeks and both were 8lb odd and 9lb odds so not entirely massive.

Oldestchild90s · 26/06/2020 13:59

@JMill13 i spent a while thinking to myself 'year of the rona? What the hell does that mean?' 😂 i definitely have issues. A friend told me when she was in hosp giving birth the heating had broken and was stuck on, in the summer 😩 i think i'd just die if that happened to me.

Newmama29 · 26/06/2020 14:05

@WorriedButterfly thank you, it’s already eased off so trying not to overthink these things, it’s amazing what our bodies are going through so there’s bound to be aches & pains!

I’m buying my DP & myself these for the hospital, I doubt it’ll be as warm in august/September but the hospitals are always roasting!

NamiSwan · 26/06/2020 14:07

@oldestchild90s I'm expecting to go over as I went over with both my previous children. Neither of mine were particularly large though, so I wouldn't worry about over 40 weeks meaning large babies. both mine were on the 50th centile - DD1 was 5 days late and 7 lb 9 and DD2 was 9 days over and 7 lb 5.

Like @heroineinahalfshell I am also jealous of those of you going on mat leave. I'm due 30 July but not actually going on leave till 23rd. I have loads of holiday to take as was supposed to go away at Easter but couldn't, and barely took any other leave this year, so will carry over all my leave and use it to come back part time for the first six weeks when I return to work in March.

JMill13 · 26/06/2020 14:16

@oldestchild90 😂😂 I've been having one of those days myself wouldn't worry.

Oh dear god, think I'd die too. They'd have to let me give birth in the shower on cold. Hospital on Wednesday was roasting so I can only imagine what it'll be like come August. Feel so sorry for the hospital staff in their PPE don't know how they cope in the heat all day.

gemso2020 · 26/06/2020 14:16

@Oldestchild90s Oh I’m totally convinced I’m giving birth at 38 weeks. No logic to it but I just can’t imagine going the full 40 weeks Grin . Actually though, I live in a pretty hot country and loads of people have said that here Summer babies are always early!

@JMill13 I was thinking of packing granola bars, maybe some rice cakes? I would love to take some sweets but I never know when to put them down and then just feel sick, so will prob take some dried fruit instead. Packing a fan for OH is a good call too!

Anyone else suddenly got total baby brain? It’s just happened to me in the last two days, I seem to be incapable of processing any information - had a zoom meeting for work yesterday and I spent the entire time asking people to repeat themselves Confused . I also have a huge seminar paper to write for university before the baby is due - now I feel like such a fool leaving it so late! Can’t string a sentence together!

JMill13 · 26/06/2020 14:24

@gemso2020 sounds like a nice snack bag. I hate granola bars and dried fruit 😂 I'll prob end up packing crisps or something, I'm not a big healthy snacker, I hate so many things that would be considered portable and healthy.

I've noticed spelling and grammar are starting to be a bit of struggle like my brain isn't thinking like it should, which is great fun for someone that wants a career as an editor 🙈

MamaFirst · 26/06/2020 14:50

Hey ladies, I wondered if you'd talked about hospital bags yet.

I always pack a bag for dh, clothes, deodorant, toothbrush, phone charger, change for car park, plenty drinks and snacks. We tend to go for portable stacks like cereal/granola bars, crisps/crackers and chocolate, also if you can remember to grab them before leaving, some fresh fruit. I think I'm going try and keep a baggy in the fridge ready to grab, once I get to about 37 weeks and just rotate it until the day arrives.

I pack myself lucozade and energy tablets. Straws definitely come in handy too, as you'll get yourself in awkward positions.

squashie34 · 26/06/2020 14:51

@gemso2020 I'm exactly the same 🤣 get me to 38 weeks and I'm going to be doing what I can to bring baby on as mine is 5lb 15oz already and I'm 34 weeks 😳 so going overdue could be a 10lb'er! Although statistically speaking you're more likely to go over with your first aren't you so I know it's all just wishful thinking 🙈

Snacks wise we started healthy then each week got progressively naughtier 🙄 so cereal bars, snack a jacks, bananas (will add), jelly babies, Jaffa cakes and partner also has some of those pot super noodles incase we are there for hours as they will feed you but not him. I also bought one of those Robinson's squeeze small squash pots to make water a bit more exciting .

sel2223 · 26/06/2020 15:40

Loving the tips about snacks and what to pack for OH (although still no idea if OH will actually get to the birth).
I'm 33 weeks now and I'm going to pack my bag for me and bsby this weekend. I think I've got pretty much everything but want plenty time incase I have forgotten something.

I'll be booked for an ELCS at 39 weeks so maximum 6 weeks to go but I'm convinced I'm going to go into labour sooner as most babies in my family have been early.
I did read somewhere that the average gestation for a first born (natural birth) is 40+5 but no idea if that's true or not.

sel2223 · 26/06/2020 15:40

Baby brain. Yes. My head is officially mush now.

squashie34 · 26/06/2020 16:30

Not saying I'm particularly hormonal today but I've just cried for 20 minutes because I'm so hot and it just isn't cooling down 😂🙈
