@Flutterbunny good advice from your mum but also you know you can always ring to see if your midwife etc think they should check you.

I just wanted to share a link for Women's hour on BBC 4 first 11 minutes is from a Head midwife from RCOG talking about care, support and being careful etc really relevant to us all now!

@squashie34 Men don't get it sometimes. It's like when mine told me i should feel lucky he still finds me attractive looking how i do.. they can be so sweet 😂 thing is, they don't mean it and inside their heads they're probably dying of laughter but to us especially feeling how we do it's just not funny in the slightest!! Sorry it's made you feel a bit crappy, try to ignore it as much as you can ❤️ I can't believe how big our babies are already, good to hear everything is ok!

JMill13 · 24/06/2020 14:39

So appointment went shocking 🙈. Blood pressure is still super high so they've made me take a seat outside in reception for half an hour so they can check me again after the finish with the next lady, if it's not gone down by then they're sending me to admissions at the hospital to be monitored. Trying to stay zen and relaxed while I wait and hopefully BP goes back to normal 🙈 I'm starving, roasting hot and knackered.

sel2223 · 24/06/2020 14:45

@JMill13 not surprised your BP through the roof after all you've had going on and this heat definitely not helping!! Try and chill, do some breathing exercises, happy thoughts etc and if it doesn't come down then best to go get monitored for your own peace of mind anyway

sel2223 · 24/06/2020 14:47

@Flutterbunny as pp suggested, maybe just give your MAU a quick ring see if there's anything else they advise? Your mum is right though, they're very well protected in there. My friend actually fainted and fell forwards down the stairs on her bump around 30 weeks! Not recommended obviously but her baby is now 10 and absolutely fine! Try not to worry but always worth a quick phone call for reassurance.

cannotmakemymindup · 24/06/2020 15:58

@JMill13 Hope your BP comes down bit I'm not surprised with all the stuff you have had going on! Sometimes even if we think we're calm and okay, our bodies rather give it away. Maybe that's why your migraine was so bad over the weekend to?

NamiSwan · 24/06/2020 16:32

Gosh @jillmill13 you've had a stressful few days 😔 not surprised your BP is high, but echoing other comments that if it is high still, at least they are aware and will monitor you and hopefully you can get the care and support you need.

Is anyone else just massively struggling in the heat today? 🥵 I went for a walk with DD2 this morning, thought it would be early enough to be ok but it was ridiculous, got back and was so wiped out I had to lie down on the sofa for half an hour to recover. Currently working in our ridiculously hot home office, with the fan on full blast to try to cope.

sel2223 · 24/06/2020 16:45

@NamiSwan I feel like I am boiling to death in this heat.....I'm currently lying stretched out on the bed in pj shorts and a bra and just basically looking like a total sweaty mess.
My feet have puffed up in the heat and I'm spraying cooling mist like it's going out of fashion 🤣

JMill13 · 24/06/2020 17:08

Thanks again ladies. How funny, so after the half hour BP was still high so off to the hospital I went, 20 minutes on the monitor and the midwives said not one reading was high 😂 so thankfully I'm completely fine just a bit stressed. Still at hospital now as have to wait on a Doctor coming to see me but hopefully be home soon as its bloody roasting and I'm sitting in a jumper with no tshirt on underneath 🙈.

I seen the temperatures for England today on the weather thing this morning and I honestly don't know how yous are coping, it's 20-ish degrees here and that's hot enough for me so no idea how yous are coping!

Mummapenguin20 · 24/06/2020 17:11

Im not coping 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭 im sat in shorts and bra in front of my unit fan cold flannel on my head 😂😂 god help me if someone knocks on the door. I can not handel the fact tomorrow will be hotter x

Superscientist · 24/06/2020 17:17

I'm not coping. I have to take the afternoon off work. I spent the morning being sick and have felt weak and dizzy since. I'm sat under a fan trying to rehydrate.
Today is forecast to be the hottest day where we are, we are at about 30oC. I'm not good in the heat at the best of times.

JMill13 · 24/06/2020 17:35

@superscientist pregnancy and 30 degrees should be illegal without a pool, air con and iced drinks on tap!

squashie34 · 24/06/2020 17:38

I actually left a sweat outline the shape of my entire body on the paper towels they put on the examination beds in fetal well-being this morning after being on the ctg for 20 minutes 😂😂

cannotmakemymindup · 24/06/2020 17:41

I normally love the heat and tanning (especially as we joke I'm cold blooded) but even I am having to admit defeat in this heat and retreat to the shade. I'm tanning blotchy for one which I'm very unimpressed by plus I just have to escape the direct sun.

cannotmakemymindup · 24/06/2020 17:42

@squashie34 actually lol.

Oldestchild90s · 24/06/2020 18:04

Have to admit i just don't know what to do with myself.. apparently Friday will be a lot worse 😰😰😰

WorriedButterfly · 24/06/2020 23:45

Does anyone feel it harder to feel movement in the heat? I'm pretty certain it's not reduced movement, but I have to concentrate in the quiet to feel movements.

squashie34 · 25/06/2020 04:00

@WorriedButterfly I wonder if they do move slightly lesson in the heat? Do you think they get hot and grouchy like we do? 😆 I'm currently wide awake in bed with one of baby's flannels dipped in cold water on my chest, debating if 4:00am is an acceptable time for a twister ice lolly 🙄🥵

Superscientist · 25/06/2020 06:14

@WorriedButterfly could be? Is it "they are having one of their quiet days" or "hmm this is rather quiet for them"? Maybe sit some where cool with a cold drink and snack as see if that perks them up. Call triage if you are concerned.

4 am is a completely acceptable time @squashie34, if you haven't had one already 6 am is just as good!

I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through today, I spent half the night being sick and the rest unable to sleep. Cold drinks seem to set off my pregnancy sickness and it's too warm for hot drinks. I don't want to take another day off work but I doubt I'll be useful if I did try to muddle through

heroineinahalfshell · 25/06/2020 08:59

My little one is going mad over last 2 days, more movements than ever! I pulled a ligament or muscle yesterday in the lower left of my bump, so spent all last night in pain with that and BH. Can't bend down or spend more than 5 minutes on my feet without sharp pain (I have called midwife and she said it doesn't sound worrying, just have to live with it). Sitting, it's just a dull ache. That plus being hot as hell and I'm feeling pretty miserable. Would take today off but I've got a huge amount on, including a really important student assessment for 2 hours this afternoon, when it'll be like an oven in my house.

It's all not that bad really but I'm definitely feeling sorry for myself!

Oldestchild90s · 25/06/2020 09:36

Hey ladies,

Do any of you have any stretch marks? I haven't got any, but i'm worried i will just get loads over night 😂 or are some people just lucky like that and get none at all?!

JMill13 · 25/06/2020 09:48

@oldestchild90 I haven't got any (yet anyways🤞 also keep wondering they're just going to appear out of nowhere) from what I've read not everyone gets them, seen something about if your mum had them while pregnant you're more likely to get them genetically. Think it's probably more just luck of the draw really.

Superscientist · 25/06/2020 10:20

I have one on each of my boobs but none else where. I got very few as a teenager when I had rapid weight change and I don't recall my mum complaining that I gave her stretch marks and having had a lifetime of "I had a lovely figure like that until you ruined it" I feel I would have heard if I did!!
I too am wait to wake up with loads thought!

mable88 · 25/06/2020 10:24

I haven’t got any stretch marks yet but at NCT our course leader says for a lot of people they appear in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. Cue the whole class feeling deflated, up until then we were all feeling quite smug about our collective lack of stretch marks 😂 I do think that not everyone gets them as well, so I’m just waiting to see!!

Newmama29 · 25/06/2020 10:27

I’ve managed to dodge stretch marks so far🤞🏼 I religiously douse myself in bio oil daily though lol! I’m hoping the genetic link is true as my mum didn’t have any either 🤞🏼
