Its Special Paid Leave. I am really lucky with it. I usually work Tues-thurs when DD is at nursery or family childcare. I think with having DD to look after, being pregnant, and not really being able to WFH they've told me to do what I can, but if I need to put it down as SPL I can. And I keep my full pay. It's really great, but boring when you cant go out, do anything, or see anyone.

FourPlasticRings · 29/05/2020 22:53

If clinically vulnerable (but not extremely clinically extremely vulnerable) individuals cannot work from home, they should be offered the option of the safest available on site roles, enabling them to stay 2m away from others. If they have to spend time within 2m of others, you should carefully assess whether this involves an acceptable level of risk. As for any workplace risk you must take into account specific duties to those with protected characteristics, including, for example, expectant mothers who are, as always, entitled to suspension on full pay if suitable roles cannot be found. Particular attention should also be paid to people who live with clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.

FourPlasticRings · 29/05/2020 23:06

We decided it was an acceptable level of risk because the nanny is only coming into close contact with one person, a child, who has been very effectively socially distancing for the last three months or so. The predominant scientific opinion at present is that children are less likely to harbour and pass on the disease. I will be on site but will stay more than 2m away and obviously I have also been socially distancing for the last three months. She will not come into contact with DH, although he doesn't work with anyone so he's also pretty socially distanced, despite working outside the home. The nanny is more at risk of catching it when she goes to the supermarket or visits her key worker boyfriend (in direct violation of the lockdown guidance, but hey- that's not for me to judge).

FourPlasticRings · 29/05/2020 23:07

You have more rights though because you're pregnant. As it's a large company, I'd be surprised if they're willing to risk liability. And don't you need to contact HR rather than the parents?

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/05/2020 07:58

@FourPlasticRings yes I'll have a chat with HR. I'm hoping they'll just come back to me next week and tell me I'll be back on furlough by June 10th so I don't miss the cut off. But I shall see.

Another lovely day today. I woke up feeling a bit down I think I'm missing family and just thinking what a strange time this is for all of us to be pregnant. I'm going to pay for the positive birth hypnobirthing online plan today hoping if I start early this will start to relax and chill me out a bit xx

Zaalfruit · 30/05/2020 08:32

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I am wfh currently but I will be back to work full time at the office from July - not looking forward to it all . My company can’t furlough us as we have a healthy cash flow or something as I asked that I didn’t want to come into central London -( I have to take three trains that are normally super blocked and the exit station is always super full) my other option they have given is I resign - financially not an option for me - so I guess hot and heavy I will be working right up until birth - worst thing my office lift doesn’t work so I am not sure how I will get to the 12th floor .

Because we are working from home - my office hasn’t done a rush assessment yet for me - I am going to bring up location and the lack of lift and the stairs .

@BntToweres I am going to try and force dh to go Dunelm with me ! We need curtains - also there is a drive through star buck near dunelem and I really want a frappe - the queue for drive through macdonalds apparently had 50 cars in our area and the kfc went around the road - people really missed them .

@BooMamaBear I have such an issue with control and not being able to feel the kicks drives me mad . Feel like screaming at the baby and saying kick me 🤣🤣🤣😂

Hope today is a great day - my in laws have an allotment so today we are going to the allotment as they want to show us what they grew and we are meant to be picking up vegetables !

Treacle81 · 30/05/2020 09:02

Morning girls! Congrats @BntTowers 💛 partner felt baby kick for first time last night ☺️ He was kicking for ages! Must of been my mojito mocktail 🤣 I also work for the government and am planning on taking a week Annual before my due date and taking mat leave from then for 6 months (as now looks like I will be offered to wfh permanently). Just need to see what happens xx

CouscousEvaporator · 30/05/2020 09:06

Maybe a broader question would be those who going to be going back to workplace (or already back), when you reach 3rd trimester will you be carrying on or stopping due to us being more vulnerable?

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I am not sure if my situation is relevant, but I think I’ll be wfh until due date now. I work in a hospital with vulnerable patients. If they want me back in I will challenge it as there’s no way I would be able to avoid patients with it, or keep 2m away from colleagues.

@zaalfruit enjoy the allotment!

We are having a slight issue with the next to me crib as I think our bed may be 1cm too high !!!! Got to try it today.

Hope the sun is shining for you all today!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/05/2020 09:14

@Zaalfruit ah that doesn't sound good at all. Even without covid it sounds tricky when heavily pregnant. I hope they do let you just continue to wfh. The allotment trip sounds lovely! It's my brothers birthday he lives just walking distance so I'm going to walk to his garden and we have ordered a nice breakfast, breakfast burrito for me 😋 and my mum will be there too. And then later on going back for a curry also in the garden. I haven't seen family properly in weeks so I'm really looking forward to it.

@Treacle81 that's really good you can work from home puts your mind at rest

Xx

otterbaby · 30/05/2020 09:49

Love hearing about all the kicking! She's started kicking so hard now we can actually see my tummy moving around 😳 so strong already!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I'm doing the online course at the minute, my DH and I watch a few videos every night. It's really informative! We're doing NCT as well later on but I imagine that one is probably a bit more technical.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today ☀️

LexiM · 30/05/2020 09:58

@Zaalfruit 12 flights of stairs sounds like a nightmare when heavily pregnant, I mean at least you would be very fit for birth. Will be interesting what they say about that on the risk assessment. Enjoy the allotment today, it sounds lovely.

@Treacle81 so lovely to feel the kicks! I think there will be lots of work places now open to some/if not full time working from home.

Not sure what we are up to today but definitely going to enjoy the sunshine (I’ve got my Cider ready - which I got ID for yesterday because it has a tiny trace of alcohol in! 😂) can’t believe how lucky we have been these past couple of months with the weather.

Treaclepie19 · 30/05/2020 09:59

Lovely to hear about the babies moving ❤

After going and getting checked last night for reduced movements baby hasn't stopped wriggling this morning! Little monkey 💕💕💕

Spark27 · 30/05/2020 10:08

Planning on a lazy garden day today. DH is still asleep as he had a late night zoom quiz and chat with his mates last night. I'll give him til 1030, then I'll be really smug for the rest of the day and let him pick up the lions share. Haha.

Going to treat ourselves to a later dinner tonight without DD. I really fancy mussels and fries. Shame I cant have the white wine too. And thinking about watching the space launch (if it happens) and then maybe doing an online escape room thing. Break up the monotony of all night on the sofa with the same rubbish tv.

@treaclepie19 my DD used to start kicking as soon as I got hooked up to the monitor when I went in for reduced movements. They're right little monkey.

My mum is very excited about being able to come and sit in the garden from monday. She'll probably be round banging on the back gate at 0900

Buzz22 · 30/05/2020 10:11

@Treaclepie19 how many weeks are you? I had midwife appointment over the phone yesterday morning and told her I hadn't felt any movement yet but she wasnt concerned.
I feel concerned though! Everyone else seems to be feeling the baby except me!

Treaclepie19 · 30/05/2020 10:23

@Buzz22 im 21+3 today. Its definitely fine until 24 weeks. This is my 3rd baby.
On Thursday baby was incredibly active and yesterday barely anything so I just rang to make sure and they said to come in. I didn't expect them to.

OP posts:
FourPlasticRings · 30/05/2020 10:29

Do you know where your placenta is @Buzz22?

Treacle81 · 30/05/2020 11:13

@Buzz22 I certainly wouldn’t worry, although easier said than done, you still have a while yet before it would be concerning. My sonographer said you are neat so chances are partner won’t feel baby kick till closer to 28 weeks! So along time off that. Babies sleep the majority of the time as well just now remember xx

Treaclepie19 · 30/05/2020 12:28

I definitely wouldn't worry Buzz.
With my first pregancy the placenta was posterior but I didn't feel him until about 22 weeks and even then it was light.
This time its anterior and I have movements I can see already at 21 weeks.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/05/2020 12:56

@CouscousEvaporator hope the next to me bed is ok when you try it out 🤞

@otterbaby oh glad you're liking it, I'm excited to start

@Buzz22 I'm 20+5 and not feeling any movement. Weeks ago I thought i was but I think it may have been round ligament pain or crotch lightening I think it's called looking back. But had scan last week and she was moving and healthy but I didn't feel a thing still so I know she is moving I just can't feel it yet. I really think we should not worry until 24 weeks. But I know it's annoying! I'm getting a bit impatient!!
My placenta is at the back so I should also be feeling it but I'm not too worried at the minute xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/05/2020 13:00

My hormones in overdrive today. Went to see my brother and his 18 month old baby in the garden and I had to keep running away from the baby when he ran towards me to try and play it was pretty heartbreaking just so we had our 2m distance. Was meant to be going for a takeaway tonight again also in the garden but I don't think I could handle having to run away again every time it was just so upsetting, could tell he didn't understand why I wasn't playing. X

Quiffy · 30/05/2020 13:08

@BntTowers yay on scan! That's wonderful news ❤️

@Treaclepie19 so glad everytginb was okay with reduced movement. Glad they're kicking again lots

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy it's so hard when they don't understand :(

I got to see my parents today for first time since I got my first positive pregnancy test back at end of January. Was so amazing but also sad as that's them away again. Having a lazy day today and getting a takeaway tonight 😻

Zaalfruit · 30/05/2020 15:54

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy my placenta is at the back to - until 24 weeks I have decided not to worry as I saw her a few days on the scan moving around. Maybe she does kick me but I can’t tell .
@Buzz22 I don’t feel kicks 🦵 I am not even sure what it is meant to feel like - so hard not to panic but I’m trying to stay positive x

@Quiffy how are you ! I ordered the bottle from Mam from the Facebook event omgosh the bottle is so tiny maybe a little bigger than my palm but so cute. I have decided I’m going to get everything neutral in case we have another child 🤣

My dh ordered his daughter 2 Liverpool kits - a proper waste of money £25 on sale for a kit she will wear once or twice apparently it’s her coming home outfit.

Zaalfruit · 30/05/2020 15:57

@Quiffy no idea where the rest of my message went . How did it go at parents :) must be so nice to see them . I can’t wait till I can go inside and have a movie night with my siblings

Buzz22 · 30/05/2020 16:51

@Treaclepie19 glad all was ok! Everything is a worry when you're pregnant isnt it?!

@FourPlasticRings my placenta is fundal (at the top) They told me I should feel movement low down below the belly button towards bikini line.

I have my second attempt at 20 week scan on Tues morning 8.30 so it's not too long to wait for some reassurance I guess!

FourPlasticRings · 30/05/2020 17:09

@Buzz22 you probably have stronger abs than you give yourself credit for. I feel everything with this baby but felt very little movement with my first; she did move a lot but it wasn't something I could feel. Since my abdominal raft, such as it was, has been obliterated already this time it's much easier to feel things. That's my theory, anyway!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy Bless him, it's too difficult with toddlers. This is why we're not seeing anyone until we're happy for DD to be cuddled etc by them. Totally understandable that you can't face going back.

Hope you had a great time at the allotment @Zaalfruit!
