Which travel system are you getting?

Starting to think about travel systems and not being able to get out and about to the shops is making things a little tricky!

Which one have you gone for/are you getting and why?

I am looking at the Joolz or Stokke but haven’t seen either in person.

I have a Cybex Priam travel system and a Baby Jogger city mini double for when we have both out. I absolutely love my Priam, I'll always try to take my Priam with the sling/ buggy board rather than take the double. I went to the baby show and tried out as many as I could before deciding. Only negative is that it's on the bulky side.

As for car seats; I changed at about 8 months to a 360, I think most people from my baby group did at a similar time but not sure if it was due to their baby not fitting or that it was just easier. My DS was pretty bulky and used to get quite sweaty in the infant carrier, he seems much more comfortable in his new seat (plus it's much better on my back!)

@raindrop84 in all honesty I found it so overwhelming my DH picked 🤣 but it's nicely finished, is stable, has fun suspension and wasnt crazy expensive

SquidgyPeach · 15/05/2020 08:25

The infababy ultimo seems like a very well priced all round travel system, suited to all terrain aswell. I hadn't really heard of them till I saw a different thread about those yesterday, anyone have any experience?

They have lots of awards for their products on the website and currently have a spring sale on, travel systems are going for about £359. I'm in a toss up between an infababy and CBX Leotie Lux, haven't got a massive budget.

DressingGown87 · 15/05/2020 20:09

I had my virtual appointment today, was pretty much set on the bugaboo Fox 2. However the fact you have to remove the seat to take it down, and that the seat moves as a whole and you can’t move the foot rest separately has put me off! Has anyone got any good feedback on the Ocarro? The reviews seem really good online, and looks like it’s good for all terrains, and folds easily / compact.

I've got a Nuna Ivvi Savi. My little boy is nearly 7 months old and would recommend to anyone. We bought the model with the heavier frame and bigger wheels but they do a lighter version. We paid I think £650 for the pram, car seat, bassinet and isofix base. It's got a few little features that made it stand out for me for example the built in sunshade that I have used loads already. The bassinet is bigger than I had previously on a silver cross wayfarer and meant we used until 6 months.
I've also got a Citi mini jogger which I love and will use for holidays etc once little one is bigger

Boomclaps · 15/05/2020 20:30

I’ve just bought an icandy peach. It’s in the front room. But I haven’t used it yet

Viletta · 15/05/2020 20:42

I'm thinking second hand cybex Priam pram and new car seat

Shmithecat2 · 15/05/2020 21:14

@DressingGown87 the Occaro is not compact when folded, and the seat is oddly small. Look at the Armadillo Flip XT instead. Folds down much better and has a bigger seat.

raindrop84 · 16/05/2020 07:09

@DressingGown87 That's worth knowing about the Fox, I think it would put me off too! How did you find the virtual appointment?

I was thinking about it and even when shops are allowed to open, I just can't see how it's going to work trying travel systems with everyone touching them! 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Boomclaps I'm hearing good things about the iCandy Peach! What made you go for it?

We got an Uppababy Vista for DC1 which we love, she's two now and it's getting used everyday on lockdown, on the beach and through the forest. Although she's walking more and more at her age now obviously. I'm 5'2" and DH is 6'2" and we both love it.

It is bulky though so wouldn't recommend for anyone regularly using public transport. Or indeed as a proper off-roader. It's a brilliant suburban all rounder.

DC2 on the way so the out n about double was set up last night.

Laura1348 · 16/05/2020 08:15

Opened up my Nuna mixx next yesterday and it's lovely. Really easy to use, fold down and comes with rain cover and foot covering for free!
Can't wait for baby to get here to use it!

DressingGown87 · 16/05/2020 08:36

@Shmithecat2 thanks I will do. Is this an all terrain? I have a big car, and a big utility store for storage. But as I’m a single parent don’t want to struggle with somethings

@raindrop84 I looked on their web pages. Mamas & Papas and John Lewis, on their homepage, there are links for virtual in store appointments. I found it really usually, as I could ask questions, see the mechanisms etc. I’m high risk, so been told it’s end of June before they will let me out to shops, even then I don’t know how it’s going to work.

raindrop84 · 16/05/2020 16:09

@DressingGown87 It sounds really useful, I might have to book an appointment, I'm no closer to working out which one might be best for me! 🙈

I’m leaning towards the ickle bubba stomp v4 I think it’s called!

AliasGrape · 16/05/2020 18:24

We’re going for ickle bubba stomp V4 too Pushingnic - even though the name makes me want to vomit 😂

What colour are you going for?

Our budget isn’t huge and this seems more affordable than some of the others mentioned, has been well reviewed, and the car seat that comes with it can be used both with isofix base and without - I wanted the option - plus car seat is also lightweight.

It’s all overwhelming though and we’ve been back and forth a hundred times.

Shmithecat2 · 16/05/2020 23:59

@DressingGown87 it won't do great in boggy mud or anything truly off road, but it's fine for parks and country paths.

Pushingnic · 17/05/2020 08:15

@AliasGrape 😂 I know the name is cringe! But it does look really good! The bundle even comes with the isofix base which is good as I also want that option. We are looking at getting the black one with the bronze frame looks really nice! What colour you going for?

AliasGrape · 17/05/2020 08:46

@Pushingnic yes including the base made a difference to us too.

Well we like the forest green colour and were all set to order yesterday and now I’m dithering on whether to go for the black, or in fact the new ‘blueberry’ colour which is basically a navy. Though DH says the handle on the trim on that one looks cheap! It’s amazing what we find to dither over.

LanieM87 · 17/05/2020 10:27

@SquidgyPeach I bought the Infababy moto 3-1 around a month back, I've not used it yet as I'm due in August. But I had a good play around with it 🙈 when it arrived, it seems really good quality, very easy to put together/take apart, fits in my boot (polo) without too much trouble!

It was a bit of a gamble, but the price was just too good for what you get and all the reviews and award nominations seemed very legit.

raindrop84 · 17/05/2020 10:54

I'm still looking at egg however someone mentioned that they're quite small and you'd need to buy a stroller early on? From reading up on them the travel system says that it accommodates children up to 4 years??

@Tiddlertoddler I know you said you have one, any thoughts?

OP posts:
Tiddlertoddler · 17/05/2020 11:24

@raindrop84 my baby is only 9 months so haven't got to toddler stage yet although she is big for her age and still heaps of room, can't see her growing out of it anytime soon.

LondonKiwi123 · 17/05/2020 11:31

We got a Bugaboo Bee 5 after much research because I liked the idea of taking my son to see his dad in central London for lunch while I was on mat leave (hah!).

The reality is that you labour over all these purchasing decisions while pregnant and then your child might not like being in what you've bought, or even allow you to put them in it for a second. This is what the shop assistants don't tell you!!!

Then you frantically panic buy things to get them to sleep/nap/play/give you 5 mins of time/let you go outside 😂
