Starting to think about travel systems and not being able to get out and about to the shops is making things a little tricky!

Which one have you gone for/are you getting and why?

We just ordered an Uppababy Vista travelsystem! We wanted to plan for a potential second baby (I'm 36 so we can't wait for that long inbetween babies), and it has glorious reviews. It can transform into a double pram. It also looks amazing!

I liked the look of egg but it is even heavier than Uppababy Vista (which is quite heavy, but folds down fairly small when you remove the wheels) and can go into a travel backpack with wheels).
It's very light and easy to push.

For tall people I recommend getting the adapters that make the bassinet/toddler seat sit higher - DH is 6'4 and I am 5'7, and I love how the baby is almost at eye level when in the toddler seat facing me! It really looks 👌 we could have used it without but it just gives the pram the extra edge. It also comes with real leather handle bars which I like.

Most of my friends and colleagues have gone for the Bugaboo, we saw it in shop and while it's nice it just seems so flimsy next to Bugaboo. It is also just a single stroller so we would have to buy a new one if we are having another quite close apart, and I just can't justify spending that money twice!

For our first baby, we bought an icandy peach - was between this and the egg. Both of them pushed beautifully but the icandy was a bit higher up (with elevators) which we liked as my husband very tall. I still think it's one of the best systems out there, but actually I didn't get as much use out of it as I thought I would, as it's just quite bulky/heavy and I often can't be bothered with it. It's also small - my daughter's super tall as well and at 2.5 barely fits into the seat anymore.

We bought a Doona for travel and it is my favourite bit of baby kit ever (convertible car seat/pram in one). With the second due soon I'm not really planning on using much else. Would probably be my number 1 recommendation if you're based in the city, as it's super compact, incredibly easy for public transport (you can turn it into a car seat without disturbing the baby to take it up steps so you don't have to worry about only using steps free access), easy to install in taxis, and costs a lot less than a pram + car seat. Only issue is that it has the car seat time limit (i.e. no more than 2.5 hours for any stretch), but my baby never lasted longer than that anyway in any pram, either awake or napping, so it wasn't a problem for me.

So I had an icandy strawberry for my daughter, didn’t like it at all. Heavy, bulky, had to angle it precisely to fit it in the car it was a pain in the bum, it also didn’t fit my daughter for very long and I ended up buying a 2nd hand bugaboo bee when she was 6months. She still fits easily in the seat and is 2.5 and huge. It’s folds up easily and nice and small I can bung it in the car no problem and also shopping/trike - other essentials.
I will definitely be using it for baby 2.
I also had an uppababy for a while when my icandy was being repaired and I hated it, massive and really high up - horrid pram.
With car seats I highly recommend the cybex z seat as the lay flat is so good. Babies should not be sat squashed in car seats for more than 30mins so most “travel systems” are a waste because where can you get to and back in 30 mins that’s worth using car seat on pram frame. Being able to lay baby down meant we actually used it and it was safe. She also lasted in that until 14 months as it’s a 13kg seat (I wouldn’t bother with a 9kg seat) car seats are so important, going in the car is probably the riskiest thing you ever do with your newborn so make sure you get one tested properly (isize etc) I then moved her into an axkid minikid to that she can rear face until at least 5yrs old.
