@Pinktruffle that's the one I had. I was rubbish at wrapping and the more structured wraps were too hard. That one is easy and soft to wear. My dd lived in it

Pinktruffle · 28/05/2020 17:07

Ooo thanks for the feedback @skinnyhotchoc. Was it sufficiently padded on the shoulders? I was looking at the ones Champoopapi posted and they looked like they had more padding.

I know I won't be able to wrap my own, just watching the videos bamboozled me but the Caboo one seems a good medium between a self wrap and structured one.

Congratulations @eskdale2004 & @Pe4nutsmum, those scan photos are amazing!

@skinnyhotchoc congratulations on your baby girl, hopefully the nub whisper has mine correct too.

With the bloods taken at the NHS scan, they said I'd have heard back by Wednesday (yesterday) at the latest if bad news, do we still receive something in the post showing the results?
Also at my booking in appointment, the midwife said at my 12 week scan they would book me in for my 20 week scan, they didn't, so is that also just a case of waiting for a scan date to arrive by post?

ChampooPapi · 28/05/2020 18:24

@kkr168 when I left my 12 week scan I went to the reception and booked my 20 week one, they go through dates and times with you. Ive had to do this with all three of my pregnancies so think it's pretty standard. Did you go to reception after your scan or just leave? Don't worry at all if you did, because you can easily phone them up and book, they will be expecting you too and should be able to actually go through dates and times that are better for you this time rather then the 12 week on just being whenever they tell you

@Pinktruffle yes that one is great, my friend had it and seemed comfortable. But I get shoulder and neck niggles and the adapt is more supportive for those areas and you just plug in and go with it. To be honest my partner was the main user and he also has back trouble from time to time and he found the adapt really comfortable to wear.

Admittedly they all say up till 3 years or whatever but after about a year neither of us bothered because they do just get so bloody heavy even in the best of slings. I couldn't imagine putting my 2 and a bit year old in one she is ginormous! And walking ! So support is not everything and the Caboo is a softer less rigid afair, plus is like 40 pounds cheaper and as I said you will get the most out of it for the first year really so could be a better option.

Trying them out at a sling library is the best thing. I've tried a fair few at one before and it just means you get the one that feels the best and suits your body the best.

They are usually on at a local library and advertised on online, so when libraries open again hopefully in September you could go to one and actually try the slings out before you buy one.

They always have the main brands 👍

@Pinktruffle also just Google Sling library and there will be one in your area, they do rent them to all new parents so you can try them for approximately 4 weeks to see if you like them

Here's a link to the London one but they are all across the UK. We have one here in south Devon so if your anywhere near a city then you'll definitely have at least one local to you

@kkr168 I received the letter with my results of the tests for downsyndrome etc yesterday and I had my scan on the 18th x

Babyhope98 · 28/05/2020 19:22

But the midwife did say it takes 3 weeks normally so I was quite shocked at how quick they came x

kkr168 · 28/05/2020 19:36

@ChampooPapi yep I just left, I'll give them a call tomorrow
@Babyhope98 I had my scan on the 20th so hopefully have the results early part of next week then

PipTed · 28/05/2020 20:23

Hey! Great to see so many scans and happy news!

I checked on my on my online notes today and my combined test results were there! They hadn’t sent me an email or text to alert me, so assuming I will receive this in writing soon?!

Downs was 1:100000 and 1 in 100000 for others. So low risk, but would be nice to have this confirmed on a physical piece of paper.

Roll on the next 26weeks!

Pinktruffle · 28/05/2020 21:16

Thank you @Champoopapi, you are a fountain of knowledge! It's hard for a FTM with no access to the outside world at the moment! I'll definitely find a sling library in my area once the country is up and running again.

ChampooPapi · 28/05/2020 21:27

@skinnyhotchoc illustrates my general feeling this week perfectly!

I seem to remember the glowing comes about 6 months after the baby and definitely after several facial treatments and a decent haircut 🤦 😆

OP posts:
firstbabybell · 28/05/2020 21:27

@skinnyhotchoc 😂😂😂

I was literally just thinking today I don't think I've ever felt so unattractive in my whole life. I just feel so fat & disgusting. 😥 And I know it's only going to get worse....

ChampooPapi · 28/05/2020 21:28

And can I just say I REALLY WANT A HAIRCUT 😭

I know I know..but this is our special place where we are aloud to vent about things, even things as trivial and silly as haircuts, right?

OP posts:
RestorationInsanity · 28/05/2020 21:33

The grey is making a serious appearance so I'm with you on a visit to the hairdresser @ChampooPapi!

Hope everyone's evenings are going well. Just having a cup of tea and rewatching episodes of Brooklyn 99 to stave off the scanxiety about tomorrow.

firstbabybell · 28/05/2020 21:33

@champoopapi haircuts aren't trivial! Especially at a time like this.

For me it's eye brows - bring back the brow bar! I'm going to be like a yeti by the time this baby gets here. 😭

skinnyhotchoc · 28/05/2020 21:35

@ChampooPapi I need more than a haircut. I'm mega high maintenance. My hair extensions are falling out, my lash extensions are long gone, my hands look like pigs trotters with no nails, and I normally have a girl does me a spray tan every week to hide the fact I have the skin tone of mouldy cheese: My husband doesn't even know who I am anymore. Bad times

roro87 · 28/05/2020 21:37

I feel like a whale and I think if I feel like this now how bad will I be in 4 months. I took off my bra and top today and looked in the mirror I honestly didn't recognise my body anymore. Although thought my bump looked cute in summer dress earlier

PipTed · 28/05/2020 21:44

I know the feeling. I don’t know who the body is looking back at me in the mirror!!! I have developed cellulite all over my bum and thighs and don’t get me started on my breasts and nipples! Oh and I have a lovely mask of pregnancy all over my face. Bronzer is my new best friend.

Anyone else’s boobs taking on a transformation of their own?! Or is it just me?

ChampooPapi · 28/05/2020 21:44

@firstbabybell the issue is we are currently 'fat', it's the worst time as most, even the very slim, start to look vast compared to what they looked like before pregnancy. This is definitely the fat phase. But soon our bumps will grow out of the fat and bloat. Though why my shoulders are bloating god only knows!

We must endeavour to glide through it in kaftans and floaty maxi dresses as well as men's t shirts and pyjama bottoms.

At least it's warm enough to not layer up to much. My god in my two other winter pregnancies what with all the wool and puffer jacket, and scarf, and whatnot I looked absolutely ginormous. Most of the other parents at my daughter's school didn't even notice I was even pregnant 😂 when my partner walked in with a newborn in March to drop the older one off they were very supprised to see him pushing a pram!

We can really enjoy showing off those bumps in a few months ladies, maybe sooner. Let's definitely do 20 week bump photos, I am certain we will all have something to show for our frumpy expanding phase by then

EithneBlue · 28/05/2020 21:47

Some lovely scan pictures on here :-)

I have a pretty low maintenance beauty regime but I do desperately need a haircut and dye. My split ends have split ends and it has gone a weird colour. I have almost ALMOST been tempted to let my husband cut it.

EithneBlue · 28/05/2020 21:52

@PipTed my boobs are huge. People keep commenting on it on zoom calls 😂

@ChampooPapi I can't wait to be out of the 'ate too much pizza' phase!

firstbabybell · 28/05/2020 21:53

Ah I'm glad I'm not my own ladies! You have cheered me up no end.

I'm actually scared for lockdown to end as I don't want to have to go out in public sporting my new bingo wings & love handles!
