Loving these labour stories (though they are also mildly terrifying!) Has anyone had section? If so how was your recovery?

I am disabled so I don't think I'll labour well as I'm not very mobile. Would be interested to know how people's experience of planned section were.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy this beautiful weather today! 😎

Snowwhite2020 · 25/05/2020 08:41

Good luck to everyone having scans this week 💖

Avo3 · 25/05/2020 09:20

Thank you! All went well, it was surreal to see a small human in my belly! Baby was snoozing during the scan, so I was asked to empty my bladder and come back, it then did a 360 spin, the midwife managed to measure it, and it went back to sleep 😂 they said there was a lot of sleepy babies that morning! All looking beautiful. Due date Nov 30th Smile Well done to all ladies, hope all scans were looking good!

ChampooPapi · 25/05/2020 10:15

@Avo3 fantastic news lovely 💖👣 so happy everything with your little one is ok. Update us with your photo 🙏

@firstbabybell yes definitely would be nice to hear some planned section stories as this will also be my first c section. I've heard really positive things in the past about recovery as long as you got a supportive no partner which it sounds like we both do

Hi All. bit of a strange one so as I mentioned previously I've had really bad constipation and have been regularly taking a laxative. due to everything happening last week I forgot to take it and today I've gone to the toilet 3 times already naturally which is crazy for me. Any one else have anything like that? I'm not sure if I should be
concerned or not

Amyyy1 · 25/05/2020 12:41

Lovely to hear all your scans are going so well. Good luck to everyone who has theres in the next couple of days!!

Mummatobe2020 · 25/05/2020 12:51

@roro97

This happens to me I also use natural laxative as have been struggling to go since preg. Sometimes it takes 24hours or more to make its was through your system. No need to worry x

lionsmum · 25/05/2020 12:59

@Avo3 congratulations on your scan I'm so glad it all went well😊 good luck to everyone else this week💖

Love reading all your labour stories!

@firstbabybell @ChampooPapi my DS was a planned section and I can say in spite of everything else the section itself went really well, it was a really pleasant experience, calm and controlled which was lovely. My recovery was amazing too, I was on a train to London from Scotland two days after surgery following my son's transfer pulling a suitcase along in Euston station so I certainly can't say it affected me much. A lot of that was probably adrenaline too though. My wound healing and things was great too. I'll be going for another section this time too, I wouldn't have it any other way x

roro87 · 25/05/2020 14:45

Decided to give the nub whisperer a try also will let you know what she come back with

peachypetite · 25/05/2020 15:48

I’ve been having bread with li seeds/flax seeds most days and haven’t got constipated thankfully

skinnyhotchoc · 25/05/2020 15:49

I've been better at going to the loo since being able to stomach my usual porridge in the morning

skinnyhotchoc · 25/05/2020 15:50

@roro87 she gets back to you pretty quick. It'll be interesting to see if she's right

RestorationInsanity · 25/05/2020 15:53

@Avo3 congratulations on the scan!

Is everyone having a good bank holiday?

I'm having what I think are round ligament pains and getting sort of achey if I stand for too long.

Have got scan on Friday morning, will be 12+3. Feeling really nervous.

peachypetite · 25/05/2020 16:53

That was meant to say linseeds! I have another headache, urgh. Been a bit off food again but anything is better than the nausea.

nearlyamummyof3 · 25/05/2020 18:15

@roro87 I'm almost the opposite I have terrible wind and not sure if it's a touch of IBS I might ask my midwife about it.

Thanks for your story @lionsmum I'm eager to have a c-section as it's twins. But my midwife said as I've already vaginally delivered they might get me to do that again. I hope I get a choice!

How's everyone's mental health going ? I feel like I'm crying every minute at silly stuff and getting quite down. Had a good day today maybe because partner off for 3 days with bank holiday so had some extra help

Congrats on all the scans ❤️❤️❤️

TrulyMiss · 25/05/2020 18:15

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind me dipping back in. Have a scan early on Friday when I’ll be 11+4. Had an early one at 7 weeks and one for the Panorama test at 9+1 so just hoping things are still ok and then we can start sharing our news... I feel this week may drag 😂

ChampooPapi · 25/05/2020 18:49

@lionsmum thanks so much for the information about your experience of the c section you had. Really really good to read that it was positive for you, I am really going to push for one (no pun intended!) Even though I've had two vaginal births, I really do not want to do it with twins with all the possible interference and let alone the fact that like over fifty percent end up being sections anyway, and I'd rather mine be planned then emergency.

@nearlyamummyof3 I thought because yours share a plancenta you automatically have to have a c section? Mainly because of the tts possibility? I feel like sometimes midwives if they've not handled certain things like the nipt, or twin stuff generally, are giving a fair amount of conflicting or just wrong information. I know you have scans every 2 weeks because of tts but I really thought you had to be enduced at 36 weeks and given a section of they were sharing a placenta as viginal birth is considered not safe.

I'd definitely do some research into it and you have a right to ask for a section anyway, especially in our position!

ChampooPapi · 25/05/2020 18:55

By tts I mean twin to twin transfer syndrome @nearlyamummyof3

OP posts:
lionsmum · 25/05/2020 19:16

@nearlyamummyof3 I really hope you manage to get one too! Are you meeting with a consultant soon? Also I can't remember, do you know what you're having yet? I wasn't sure if you had a harmony test or not😊

@ChampooPapi of course, completely understandable that you would want one given the pros and cons! Are you meeting your consultant soon to discuss this?😊 I'm meeting with my consultant on Wednesday and will be getting the ball rolling with it, I know it's quite early on but I want them to know my preferences from the outset

nearlyamummyof3 · 25/05/2020 19:27

@ChampooPapi that's makes sense! Especially as I'm being twice-weekly scanned because of the tts.
She is a twin specialised midwife and she is really good with most things. But I reckon it would be my choice to do and probably will end up being a early c-section anyways. I think she wanted to go through every possibility there is!

@lionsmum I didn't have the harmony test but am getting a private gender one done the same day as my nhs 16 weeks which June 3rd super exciting!
I haven't meet a consultant yet. I'm still waiting for a few appointments - I meant to meeting a specialist as my asthma has got terrible since being pregnant - but I guess with covid everything is delayed!

Pinktruffle · 25/05/2020 19:38

Good luck with the up coming scan @nearlyamummyof3!

I went out for a walk today which was really nice, we managed to avoid all other human beings but to make that possible we had to wall along the main road. I've got lots more energy now I'm in the second trimester so going to try and go everyday now as I've been getting back and hip pain from inactivity.

My first pregnancy purchase arrived today -I got myself a pregnancy pillow. I'm going to go and open the box now!

ChampooPapi · 25/05/2020 21:34

@lionsmum yes i think getting the ball rolling as early as logically possible is actually essential really. I first see a consoltant at 20 weeks so will definitely be mentioning it then and making my position known. If that consoltant wont agree they have to let you see someone who will agree dont they? For you as well it totally makes sense to flag it up at that first consoltancy appointment, it is so essential to get it on those notes and be known.

Ive already written it on mine in preparation for my 16 week appointment in a few weeks time. I have known people who have requested a c section and their midwives have still written `will try a natural labour' on the notes! I mean i am an advocate for a natural vaginal birth as much as the next woman, ive had two myself, but im even more an advocate for women being aloud to decide what happens to their own bodies. Being heard and listened to are two different things arnt they, so we do have to push for these things that matter to all of us early as it needs time to really sink in I have found.

Morning all!
Hope everyone is well today
Good luck anyone having scans!
I was just wondering if anyone has taken their children to scans this year? My partner is really struggling to get time off work to look after our son and we have no childcare in London. I mean what are you meant to do if you're pregnant and a single mum?
