@Eskdale2004 I would be getting frustrated as well, it's a pain in the arse trying to get information in these situations sometimes and then you've got everything going on at home, it just gives you the rage doesn't it sometimes! I think it's healthy to feel like this and let it out and I totally understand why your pissed off after being passed around on the phone while wrestling your own mum duties at home.

I would attempt to book your own scan perhaps? This is the way they do it in my area, you ring them up at the antinatal altrasound department and reception take your booking. Some googling may get you through, or just saying to another department can you put me through to the antinatal ultrasound department please, I need to book my scan.

They may already have your details I'd imagine as your booking in has been so late on, I mean it's worth a try!

I might try to book my own. It’s really difficult as OH works all the hours god sends. I’ve got my 10 YO DSD here who is sooooo nosey and always eavesdropping in on conversations and my 6 YO DD too. I don’t really want either of them knowing just yet so trying to be discreet about this sort of thing is a logistical nightmare for me!

@ChampooPapi what a nice idea re bumps! glad you're feeling better today x

EithneBlue · 22/05/2020 18:11

@Eskdale2004 - given your circumstances and how far along you are it's very reasonable to chase: lots of antenatal clinics are open at the weekend so keep calling them until they can find your booking? I would hope they wouldn't be stupid enough to book it in with such short notice that a letter wouldn't get to you but rocking up on Tuesday morning and refusing to leave is an option ;-)

EithneBlue · 22/05/2020 18:13

Got my first taste of round ligament pain last night: rolled over at a funny angle and it woke me up! I honestly thought I would have a couple more weeks before that happened!

roro87 · 22/05/2020 18:24

@ChampooPapi love the idea of bump pics after.

Just wanted to say I love how open and friendly this group is. On a number of occasions it has been very reassuring.

@Eskdale2004 really hope you get your date soon

MummyShark97 · 22/05/2020 18:46

@roro87 second that! Lovely to feel like we're all on this journey together!

Eskdale2004 · 22/05/2020 19:10

@EithneBlue I’m not sure if they’re open during the weekend but I’ve tried a few more times to no avail. I’ll try again tomorrow and see if I get anywhere.
@roro87 agree, it’s a lovely group. I can’t believe how quickly we’re filling threads!

I had my scan today. All seemed to go well baby was doing somersaults and wouldn't get in position to do the NT so had to get up and do my blood tests and then come back and he/she was finally in position.
The midwife didn't tell me the NT measurement though which worries me a bit at my age (36 when conceived, 37 now) she checked it 3 times and muttered .5 under her breath - didn't hear the first number as she said it in her head. I did ask her if the NT was normal and she said it looked normal but didn't tell me the number.

Someone please reassure me that the triple checking the NT was just her being thorough please?!

Other than that baby looked good and she's confirmed due date on 26/11.

@pinktruffle if she said it's normal I'd be reassured by that. Lovely pic - great view of it's little leggies too!!!

I'm 36 & it's not old at all! 😉 You're due the day before me ☺️

Pinktruffle · 22/05/2020 20:01

@firstbabybell thank you. I'm sorry, I'm such a worrier, I can't but stew on every detail!

Any gender guesses are welcome guys!

GrendelsCat · 22/05/2020 20:14

@Pinktruffle I had my scan earlier this week and could see her marking up the measurements on the screen. She did the NT measurement at least 3 times (maybe 4). I really wouldn't worry, I think they just like to double (triple!) check. Do you have handheld notes? I think there should be a print out of the scan results in there so you could probably find the measurement if you wanted. Lovely pic of your little one!

ChampooPapi · 22/05/2020 20:33

@Pinktruffle hey lovely scan picture, I reckon a baby girl 🧐🔮 and don't worry they have to take the measurements many times to get a kind of mean average so I'd be far more worried if they only did it once! Mine were done at least 4 times for each twin, I could see the measurements on the screen in mm, and they were all slightly different so this is how they calculate it.

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 22/05/2020 20:34

@GrendelsCat unfortunately she hasn't given me any handheld notes, I checked all the bits of paper and the blue book I was given today but there is nothing personalised in there.

I am reassured as a couple of people have said their midwife checked multiple times. I need to stop being such a worrier I think! Especially when she said everything was normal, it would be really unethical of her to lie.

Snowwhite2020 · 22/05/2020 20:47

@Pinkytruffle lovely scan pic 💖🌈 I totally understand why you are worrying about the NT. I did the same. I agree with others here- if they said normal, it has measured normal.

I have a several friends and family who work in the nhs- including my husband- who reassured me that they have to tell you if they see problems- it’s the purpose of the scan and a code of conduct/ professionalism duty. So if she said normal- hear it girl 💖

I say this as someone who also needed multiple reassurances.... wish I didn’t but that’s just me.... sigh.

My husband was like: so she said normal?

Me: yes.

Husband: but you think it’s not normal?

Me: yes

Husband: why if that’s not what she said?

Me: I don’t know... it’s just...I’m so worried it’s not normal.

Lol.

Obviously we have to all wait for the full bloods but what she said is a very good sign. Smile

Love to you. Xx

Eskdale2004 · 22/05/2020 22:08

@Pinktruffle with my last baby, the sonographer measured several times. I think it’s also protocol for them to tell you ASAP if they notice anything amiss.

EithneBlue · 22/05/2020 22:36

@Pinktruffle - to echo what the others said-- sonographer did all measurements a few times for my scan :-)

Birry · 22/05/2020 23:04

@Pinktruffle maybe as well because you had a wriggler she wanted to make sure she had the right measurement. Luckily baby had settled down by the time my sonographer came to measure the NT but I know she did struggle to get the first few measurements and checks done so did them a few times as baby was super wriggly to start with.

PipTed · 22/05/2020 23:17

@Pinktruffle The sonographer also measured mine a few times and the measurement is in my notes.

I didn’t ask if everything looked ok though, as I assumed she would say if not. I’m worried, now 🙈 she did show me the anatomy etc and said everything is as expected.

Do/should they tell you if something Doesn’t look quite right?

Pinktruffle · 22/05/2020 23:18

Thank you all, you've really made me feel 100 times better. You're all wonderful!

@Snowwhite2020 you sound like me! My husband has to have so much patience with me!

Pinktruffle · 22/05/2020 23:20

@PipTed going by what @Snowwhite2020Sn said above about code of practise etc, I think she/he would have said something if they saw an anomaly.

Pe4nutsmum · 23/05/2020 01:03

Hey, just wondering is there a Facebook group for our group.

So glad all the scans went well today, congrats everyone.

I seriously can't wait for Wednesday.
Im getting our private scan so hubby can meet his baby,
Thursday is my redo NHS scan and dating scan, and cubs test.
Friday is my harmony text.

It's going to be a busy week for Peanut.

Fingers crossed all goes well and the results are good, so I can begin to start telling my friends and family.

peachypetite · 23/05/2020 04:55

I’m still waking up ridiculously early even when I go to bed later. It’s so annoying. Usually waking up because I need a wee! My sonographer did some measurements twice but told me everything looked normal and nothing to stress about so while she measured I just enjoyed seeing the baby on the screen and relaxed. I’m sure there will be more anxiety before the 20 week but I’ve been so much less anxious since hearing that at the 12 week. It’s no good for the baby to be constantly worrying so I’ve been focusing on eating nice and healthily since my appetite is making a come back and doing jobs around the house.

Is anyone else unable to lie on their stomach already? It's so odd because with my 1st pregnancy I could lay on my stomach even at 8 months, I didn't really ever have a bump with him, I swear I carried him in my bum which got huge!! This time there is just too much pressure when laying on my stomach already, making it too uncomfortable.
