Hi everyone! Love all the scans pictures!

I’m concerned that I haven’t been asked to give a urine sample. Is this mandatory?

Thank you all in advance :)

peachypetite · 21/05/2020 05:38

@Hollyyyg I gave a sample on the same day I had my scan and bloods taken.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/05/2020 06:35

@Hollyyyg usually when you have your booking appointment the midwife would do BP, booking bloods (blood type, HIV screen, hepatitis etc) & a sample of urine would be tested and sent off to the lab to check for infection. Now those are being done as part of 12 week scans. This is what I said the other day after mine...if I hadn't known then it definitely wouldn't have happened. If you didn't have a sample checked or taken then, if I were you, contact your midwife and tell her. If you have another face to face appointment coming up (I should have a consultation appointment at 16 weeks) then you can wait til then but if it's going to be 24 weeks before you see a midwife again I'd ring an tell them the sample didn't get taken.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/05/2020 06:40

Just seen you're twins @Hollyyyg so you should have another face to face fairly soon?

Lavenderpurple · 21/05/2020 08:14

@CatandKitten glad all is well with baby. The first tri is such an anxious time.

@kkr168b that’s a pretty good pic. I’m a bit smaller this time than I was with my dd but didn’t make much difference to my pictures.

I’d like to try some yoga, need to get rid of dh otherwise I feel a bit of a wally.

ChampooPapi · 21/05/2020 08:17

@onlyreadingneverposting8 she's only having one baby I think it's the other Holly having the identical twins. Their user names are so similar! Unless they are both having twins and I've missed something 🧐

@ChampooPapi I thought this might cause confusion so have changed username!

The artist formally known as hollyjg 😂😂

Just incase it's confusing
I'm Holly - have an 9 month year old and two gorgeous beans due on 19th Nov lol

Hope everyone's good today! Good like to anyone doing scans ❤️💙💕

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/05/2020 08:48

Apologises!! @nearlyamummyof3 @Hollyyyg for the confusion! Thanks @ChampooPapi. Advice kind of the same though - atm it's difficult with changes to maternity care due to covid. If anyone thinks they've missed having something done is advice contacting their midwife if they haven't got a face to face appointment coming up soon.

ChampooPapi · 21/05/2020 08:54

@nearlyamummyof3 Lol I nearly did it again and thought you were the other Holly and were having twins too 😆

But it all fell into place when I read it again and remembered, oh yes, my friend Holly on here has a baby the same age as well 😅 she needs a triple buggy...

Good effort on name changing, it's worth it as we know your history from the whole past six weeks and the name is the only thing that identifies you and that history on here.

Your a proper 🌟 you are 💖

@nearlyamummyof3 also when I said 'i think it's the other Holly' I obviously KNEW you were having twins, I meant it like I wasn't sure if this new Holly was having them too 🤦

I think it's all a bit much for our pregnancy name I know how hard it is to remember names to tag even without similar names @ChampooPapi 😂❤️

Is anyone thinking names? Is it to early? Do we wait to know gender?

MummyShark97 · 21/05/2020 09:17

@nearlyamummyof3 I've had a few thoughts on names but not started looking through baby books or anything, good job we've plenty of time to pick one out isn't it! I think if you feel like thinking up names then do it! We're planning to pick out 2-3 and seeing what suits them when they arrive x

Amyyy1 · 21/05/2020 09:23

@nearlyamummyof3 I have my names picked out already! Obviously they may change 100x closer to the date but I am surprised me and DP managed to agree on our faves so far lol

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/05/2020 09:32

@nearlyamummyof3 I have my girls names sorted but not boys at all...however I did this once before and then changed my mind when baby was born!

Babyhope98 · 21/05/2020 09:42

Question to those who have already been mums, when did you buy the pram? Start buying clothes?

peachypetite · 21/05/2020 09:45

I’m finding names for girls much easier to come up with than boys! I was planning on starting to research different things but not buy anything before my 20 week scan and would probably keep everything at my mum’s house!

firstbabybell · 21/05/2020 09:45

Ooh i love the name game! We have the boy's name but can't decide on girl's. Just hoping no one we know pinches the name before we get chance to use it!!

I was terrified when Boris announced his baby name!

Also can't agree on middle names - my hubby says they're pointless but I really want baby to have one & think it's a good opportunity to give Grandparents / great grandparents a mention x

Babyhope98 · 21/05/2020 09:45

Lockdown has given one a lot of time for online shopping and I saw a pram I liked at a great price but scared it’s bad luck

Babyhope98 · 21/05/2020 09:47

Yeah I’ve been told to store it at someone else’s house, I shall wait for the 20 week scan then x

nearlyamummyof3 · 21/05/2020 09:49

@firstbabybell my boyfriends family have no middle names at all - but I think they're really important.
We named our first after his dad and grandad etc so he has two middle names.
I agree I think it's a great way to add people in or add your own touch to a name 😊

firstbabybell · 21/05/2020 09:57

Glad you're with me @nearlyamummyof3! I'm pretty sure I'll get my own way on this 😂 😉

firstbabybell · 21/05/2020 09:58

@nearlyamummyof3 Also, I think that's a lovely what you did with the names x

peachypetite · 21/05/2020 10:04

Everyone is different, I’m someone who prefers to err on the side of caution and wait until I’ve had the anomaly scan.

Amymone · 21/05/2020 10:16

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your kind words the other day. I've been in pieces a little bit, and we're on the horns of a dilemma I wouldn't wish on anyone. It seems we're in the 1% of pregnancies with a high NT, though harmony results are all low. It's likely a rarer chromosomal abnormality or a cardiac defect. Our great fear is that if we got through invasive testing and abnormality scans without anything being detected, there's still a huge array of problems that could be causing it which would be undetectable until birth. We've been told that if it gets past all those tests OK, there's 60% chance it will be born without major defects. I'm sure you all really don't want to hear this with scans coming up etc but didn't want to just disappear! We still haven't decided what to do but are considering all options and the kind of uncertainty and stress we can put ourselves through. What I've found a little comforting is that several doctors have told us this is just bad luck and nothing we've done, and unlikely to be anything nasty 'lurking' in our genes. Obviously doesn't change the situation now but gives us hope that we may not find ourselves here again. My heart goes out to anyone awaiting scans or test results. The vast majority of pregnancies are completely fine and I'm sure yours will be too! 💕

Amyyy1 · 21/05/2020 10:23

@Amymone I'm sorry to hear you haven't received the news you would have hoped for and are going through all this added stress of the unknown. Will be thinking of you and hoping whatever happens it all works out ok for you. It's good the doctors don't think it's anything to do with your genes though x
