Hello all, I think I was briefly on the last thread, but actually I might have name changed since!

Have my scan a week today. Just looking forward to being able to tell people; at the moment, only DH, my best friend and, for practical reasons, my manager at work, know.

Babyhope98 · 20/05/2020 12:23

@ChampooPapi : Thank you ☺️ , a lot of people have said girl I'm holding out hope for a boy - but will be happy either way as long as its healthy x

EithneBlue · 20/05/2020 12:27

I definitely want a surprise - knowing feels like peeking at the ending of a book!

Screening results all came back fine so we told our families last night: everyone was very excited!

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 13:02

Hahaha @EithneBlue that’s a very good way of describing it! Aww really pleased for you.

excitednerves · 20/05/2020 13:05

Congratulations on all the scans ladies! Woooo!

excitednerves · 20/05/2020 13:07

Your thoughts please. How likely is it that we’ll be back in an office before we go on maternity leave. My thinking is highly unlikely, especially as we’re pregnant we’ll still be working from home even if others go back.

We need to move house before baby arrives and had planned to move aaa soon as I’m on mat leave... but if I’m WFH we can go sooner. It doesn’t matter which home I work from.

I’ll be moving too far to commute

Thoughts?

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 13:18

@excitednerves I really don't think we'll be back in the office, my manager made the same comment.

On a slightly more disappointing note, my host told me the no partner policy is likely to still be in place when we are due so OH's only allowed during established labour and a window after giving birth. I hope this is not the case but will have to deal with it! That's also my Hospital so may vary form place to place.

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 13:18

hosp not host!

excitednerves · 20/05/2020 13:29

@mummyshark97 lol I did wonder if you were at a fancy private hospital with some kind of concierge service! That makes much more sense!

Yes, shame about OH’s at the delivery. I’ll worry about it when I get there I think

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 13:34

@MummyShark97 I don’t think it’s worth worrying about giving birth in November, it’s just so far away. Who knows what will have happened by then? Plus it’s not like anyone is going to give birth alone, a partner being there for the worst part is good enough for me. I think we have to accept that this virus will result in a new normal and we may never go back to how things used to be.
I definitely will be working from home for the foreseeable, my office have said most of us will be back after Christmas! Crazy right!

lionsmum · 20/05/2020 13:34

Congrats to all the lovely scans today, glad everything went well

@Babyhope98 I'm saying girl for yours💖
@Amyyy1 boy for yours possibly?
@kkr168 I'm actually not sure about your one lol!

We only found out the sex with our DS the day before he was born, but I was utterly convinced the whole way through I was having a boy anyway! We will be finding out this time around for sure, have booked a private scan for it😊 12 week scan me tomorrow morning, going to have a little break to calm my nerves. Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow too💙

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 13:41

@peachypetite I think they just wanted to give an early heads up that may be the case which is sensible in my eyes. As you say it's not like our OH won't be there at all!

Amyyy1 · 20/05/2020 13:48

@lionsmum Good luck for tomorrow!! Update us when you can☺️

Dee96 · 20/05/2020 13:55

@EithneBlue congrats glad to hear all went well at the scan, was you told your results immediately? I'm having my bloods done on the day so was wondering if they tell you there and then or later

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 14:00

@Dee should take about a week but I was told I’d only be contacted if there was anything warranting further discussion. It probably differs depending on where you are?

Babyhope98 · 20/05/2020 14:05

@lionsmum good luck 😊
@Dee96 I was told I should get a letter with results in three weeks, if anything is wrong I will get a phone call x

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 14:12

@excitednerves haha no!

EithneBlue · 20/05/2020 14:40

@Dee96 -- I was told I would get a letter within 2 weeks with the results (if low risk), but be called within 5 days if it was high risk. Test was on Friday, letter with low risk result arrived yesterday! Depends where you are I think :)

skinnyhotchoc · 20/05/2020 14:43

@MummyShark97 I'm not too concerned about my oh being there. We have no family nearby to look after my dd and I laboured really fast with her so there would be no time for my mum to travel up. I think dh will have to stay at home if I go into labour anyway. My midwife was on about a home birth but I'd rather be in hospital.
Lovely scans. I think there's going to be a lot of girls on this group

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 20/05/2020 14:48

Tbh I don't think the partner only once in established labour thing matters too much. If you go into spontaneous labour at home you won't go to hospital until you're in established labour anyway. If you're induced (esp first time using pessaries) it can often take a long time and partners are often sent home to get some rest and come back when things start happening. If they just break your waters it often takes a couple of hours or so for things to move, plenty of time for a partner to get to the hospital and there's really not much for them to do expect get bored! The only time I can see it really affecting is if suddenly things went very quickly and OH wasn't there yet or waiting for a c section when the moral support could be good.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 20/05/2020 14:51

I am concerned about dentists not being open though!!! My teeth have lots of problems at the best of times and I've had one break more in lockdown - I was due to have it crowned in April. Obviously being pregnant puts us at more risk of teeth and gum problems - I really want my dentist open again!!

ChampooPapi · 20/05/2020 15:23

@lionsmum we will be waiting for your update tomorrow! 💖

Birry · 20/05/2020 15:44

@lionsmum will be thinking of you tomorrow. From memory I think our scans are at the same time. I'm really quite nervous for mine so glad it's first thing in the morning. It's been lovely to see all you ladies posting pictures of your babies 😊

excitednerves · 20/05/2020 16:16

Good luck @lionsmum and @birry
