@ChampooPapi thank you, really appreciate it

Dee96 · 19/05/2020 20:00

@excitednerves oh no I was really hoping it would be otherwise! Obviously I understand, it's just given my pregnancy was unplanned and it's been hard for me and my partner to accept the reality of the situation it would of been really nice if he could of experienced it, was hoping we could both have that realisation moment together.

Kaizer43 · 19/05/2020 20:09

Hi ladies!
12 weeks and 2 days today!
Having my scan next Thursday 28th May and counting down the days.... due date 30th Nov.
Congrats to you all and best wishes.
Having a huge Dominos pizza tonight..large just for me!!!! Lol. X

excitednerves · 19/05/2020 21:10

@Dee96 you could ask your sonographer if you can take a video for him. I know lots of people have said they were clearly told no videos, others seem to have got lucky and it might be down to who you see on the day. It’s worth asking, all they can say is no.

Amyyy1 · 19/05/2020 21:13

I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow at 9am. I suffer super bad from anxiety and panic attacks and I've already had a few just from how worked up I am getting for tomorrow. I'm so nervous to go in alone tomorrow, I'm rubbish with hospitals and the added fact they're taking a blood test... I'm worried I'm not even going to be able to get through the door. I wish my partner could go in with me to keep me calm🙁 I do understand why it's gotta be just me though. I just really don't know what to expect and I don't want to embarrass myself in front of them and hold up the nurses day when I'm sure they're already super busy.

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 21:23

Aw @Amyyy1 I understand. I was pretty anxious about my scan today also- it is hard. I found it was easier to tell the sonogrpaher that I was a bit anxious because it sometimes breaks the tension for me.

You WILL get through it. You are having a baby and you are amazing and you can do it!

I hope your partner will drive you there/ pick you up? Good to share photos and talk it through. You probably won’t be in that long. My scan was suuuper quick!

Love to you and try to stay calm 💕

firstbabybell · 19/05/2020 21:25

@eskdale2004 sorry but he needs a bit of a bollocking. If he can't cook he can still use a phone to order a takeaway! He needs to understand you are making a human & that is a pretty big deal!!!

Congrats from today &...
Good luck tomorrow everyone! 🤞

@amyyy1 I'd just be super upfront with them about how nervous you are & I'm sure they will take extra special care of you. ✨

Amyyy1 · 19/05/2020 21:29

@Snowwhite2020 My DP is driving me there, waiting outside with my dog (she senses my anxiety and is very good for reassuring cuddles when I need them) and then driving my home. He is trying to be supportive but I can see he is worried too as he's seen how bad my attacks can get where they immobilise me. I hope it's super quick, I have been a teary mess all evening!! Just got to focus on seeing my little bean dancing about on the screen to get me through hopefully. Thank you for your kind words ❤️ I just want it to be tomorrow evening already😪

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 21:41

What time is your scan tomorrow @Amyyy1? That sounds like a good crew to help get you through 💖 What kind of dog do you have? Xx

Amyyy1 · 19/05/2020 21:45

Ive got 3 but it's my lil sausage dog we're taking with us tomorrow. I did mention to the receptionist I was quite nervous but she replied with aren't we all!

motherofsnortpigs · 19/05/2020 22:13

You, even on your 6th, shouldn't be taking it. Sorry if this offends you but it's just not advised.

@ChampooPapi

No, I’m not offended. I just think you are very rude for suggesting that I somehow care a bit less for this baby because it is #6. It is also rude to tell someone what they should and shouldn’t do when is does not affect you directly. I stand by my up to 30 weeks statement.

And if your an ivf pregnancy it's actually really dangerous to take it!

This is scaremongering.

I wish all of you happy and healthy pregnancies.

lionsmum · 19/05/2020 22:42

@Amyyy1 I'm sorry you are feeling so anxious about it, I know hospitals can seem like such a daunting place but it's hopefully going to be where you have some of your most wonderful memories this year🥰 that's lovely your little dog is going with you too to keep you calm, they are so wonderful! Defs agree with the others advice to tell your sonographer when you go in and whoever takes your blood, they will be well versed it in and will hopefully be good at reassuring you. Wishing you all the best!

kkr168 · 19/05/2020 23:53

I shall continue avoiding ibuprofen! Luckily lying in a dark, quiet room dulled the headache & I was able to sleep finally.

Congrats on today's fab scans, it's so nice coming on & reading about them & seeing scan pictures.
I have mine tomorrow at 11am, the morning is going to drag isn't it!! How much water do I need to drink? My letter just says arrive with a moderately full bladder.

I cant remember who asked but my exemption certificate arrived in the post, a few days after the booking in appointment. I would chase up with your midwife if you've not been given anything, they might have forgotten to process it.

@roro87 I am so sorry for your loss x

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 07:06

Good luck today ladies!!!

RunnerGirl123 · 20/05/2020 07:16

Good luck for those with scans today.

And congratulations to anyone who posted about their scans yesterday after my last reply! I struggle to keep up with this thread sometimes, but it is so lovely to see everyone supporting each other. Especially during a time when when we can't see parents, siblings or besties to help us through the difficult first trimester.

KerryW87 · 20/05/2020 07:22

Hi, can I join!

I'm 32 and currently 9+5 with my third baby. Have two boys (11 and 9) from a previous relationship. We were TTC for 7 months and just over the moon :) My eldest has been asking for a baby brother or sister for nigh on a year now, so roll on the scan date so I can finally break the news and get some peace 😂

Due roughly 18th December! Hope you're all well! :)

Lavenderpurple · 20/05/2020 07:24

I’ve been rather quiet on the thread. Have been reading all of your updates though.
Sorry for those of you who’ve had a tough time and congratulations to those of you who are doing well.

I have my 12 week scan today. I don’t have good experiences of scans so I’m really nervous. I feel sick. I’ve got that horrible nervous butterfly feeling.

Ridiculous as well, but I get anxious about how much to drink. For one of my 12 week scans I think I drank too much and I was desperate to go, but obviously couldn’t until I’d had the scan.

Good luck to other ladies having scans today! Smile

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 07:35

@lavenderpurple I only drank about 750ml and my scan was clear as day. It’s completely normal to feel like this, I don’t know anyone who didn’t feel nervous beforehand. I could barely eat for several days before mine!

ChampooPapi · 20/05/2020 07:43

@Amyyy1 and @Lavenderpurple good luck this morning ladies, and everyone else going to their scan. We will be thinking of you all today ☺️

roro87 · 20/05/2020 07:45

@Amyyy1 I hope you will be ok. That is what me and my partner did too. He drove me there our dog came with us because we didn't want her getting anxious at home as I've been around all the time. I found them dismissive when I said I was anxious but then a kind nurse said they don't mean to be but they hear it 100 time a day. Within 15 min of my appointment I knew my baby was ok though so I wasn't left in limbo for long. send you reassuring virtual hugs.

Everyone else thank you so much for your kind words they were of great comfort. I feel so much better and more positive today and it made my mum's day after all the bad news.

Now I'm feeling better any gender guesses? I'll repost pic so no one has to scroll

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 07:51

@Lavenderpurple I did the same thing and was asked to go to the loo for "half a wee" not once but TWICE haha! I had about 800ml so definitely reducing that next time! x

MummyShark97 · 20/05/2020 07:53

@roro87 ouh something is saying boy to me Smile x

ChampooPapi · 20/05/2020 07:54

@roro87 I'm going for a baby boy this time 🧐 what are you thinking from what you saw at the scan? Are you finding out at 20 weeks or keeping it a total supprise?

OP posts:
kkr168 · 20/05/2020 08:11

@MummyShark97 half a wee, is that even possible when pregnant 😂
Had an awful sleep, nerves/excitement for the scan I guess.

skinnyhotchoc · 20/05/2020 08:17

@Lavenderpurple I'm the same. I have a terrible struggle drinking water. It goes straight through me. When I was having my dd they always said my bladder was too full so now I literally just drink a bottle of water 30 minutes before. I think some people just have a fast filtering system lol.
As for feeling nervous lots of us are the same boat here after disappointment. I had a horrible scan at ultrasound direct when they found my mmc. They were very unfeeling with me. I wouldn't use ultrasound direct again but no choice as want NIPT and they're the only place I can get to but it is a different branch so I'm hoping they're better. We all have to be brave. Motherhood is a hard journey but it is very worth it
