Great news in the scans today! So exciting to hear all your updates. Only 9 more sleeps til mine!!

I'm terrible at guessing the sex of baby from scans... can never see any correlation between skulls and I have no idea what a nub is lol. But it's lovely to see the pics!

hollyjg · 18/05/2020 17:31

And congrats @Babyhope98 , @MrsSmith2020 and @Avo3 🥳🥳🥳

So many lovely stories to read

lionsmum · 18/05/2020 17:44

@ChampooPapi congratulations, so happy for you and your two little ones!

@Pe4nutsmum congratulations, your scan pic looks similar to my DS's lol😊 same head shape

@Snowwhite2020 that's strange, I'm in Scotland & I had a private scan 4 weeks ago and again on Friday just there and my husband was allowed in with me both times. It was window2thewomb and granted it was the only clinic open near us. I was able to video at my NHS early scan but I think the sonographer allowed that due to personal history, she offered too I didn't ask. I think it depends on who does the scan, you may get lucky, fingers crossed💖

Snowwhite2020 · 18/05/2020 17:49

Thank you @lionsmum you have given us hope! We don’t have a window to the womb near us but will look into this... maybe the private clinics vary? I think you might be right about the sonographer. Thank you tho 💖

peachypetite · 18/05/2020 17:56

Not in Scotland but there were signs up everywhere at mine to say no filming. I guess it could be distracting for the sonographer and at the end of the day it is a medical service. My husband was over the moon enough to see the photos.

hollyjg · 18/05/2020 18:12

How's everyone doing in the heat?
I walked with my little one to the shop today and almost fainted coming back very dizzy is anyone else experiencing that?
I'm taking ferrous fumarate for my iron intake as recommended by pharmacist

Beccarans89 · 18/05/2020 19:01

A positive update from me too! ❤️ Scan this morning went well, been moved slightly so now due on 25/11 so nearly 13 weeks! Had to have an internal scan (after 2 abdominal attempts) as my womb is tilted backwards so made measuring tricky! But all looking good!

Lovely to see lots of others sharing good news too xxx

beelzeboob · 18/05/2020 19:07

Hi everyone! I’ve got my scan booked on Tuesday when I’ll be 13 weeks!

Eskdale2004 · 18/05/2020 19:22

@Beccarans89 my womb was tilted back with my last baby too. She didn’t do an internal in the end as I’d had a bleed a few days earlier and was very worried about setting it off again. Got a very bizarre scan photo from that one 😆 so pleased it all went well.

motherofsnortpigs · 18/05/2020 19:33

@Beccarans89 - you are my due date buddy :)

@Eskdale2004 - lunch time pic of elephant snot. Nice 😂 Yep totally normal.

Loving all the scan pics and @MummyShark97’s announcement photo. Beautiful.

@firstbabybell how lovely of someone to send you flowers! I could hear my mother rolling her eyes at me down the phone when I told her we were having another. She loves me really, and is worried that I’ll have to modify my career plans. I am hoping to be recommended for ordination into the Church of England but they aren’t taking any new candidates for Sept 2020 anyway. I’m sure it’ll all work itself out. My parents were living in Spain when I had all my others and they don’t live particularly near now, so it’s not as if I’ll be relying on them to babysit all the time. (Sorry, that was a bit of a rant).

@kkr168 I take a couple of ibuprofen for a sort of moderate headache. Paracetamol doesn’t touch it. Cocodamol is ok in 2nd trimester (as occasional pain relief) too.

skinnyhotchoc · 18/05/2020 19:45

Lovely scan news. Congrats everyone. Waiting for my private one on Thursday and my nhs one next week xx

nroseh · 18/05/2020 20:56

Hi All, new to mumsnet and first time mum. I’ve had my first scan and results as follows;
NT - 2.6mm
Papp-a - 1.8 mom
Hcg - 5.4 mom
I’m 35 and my combined T21 risk is 1:93 Papua and Edwards syndrome v low risk) just wandering if anyone has has similar results. I only found out on Friday when the hospital called. It’s a very scary time.
‘Normal’ results are as close to 1.0 as possible for both Papp-a and hcg.

Thanks in advance

Teaandbiscuits123 · 18/05/2020 21:01

@ChampooPapi @Pe4nutsmum @Beccarans89 so nice to hear about all your lovely scans today! ❤️

kkr168 · 18/05/2020 21:30

@motherofsnortpigs Ibuprofen is the only thing that ever shifts headaches for me, but for some reason I thought you couldn't take them when pregnant?

So nice coming on & seeing lots of great scans, can't wait for mine on wednesday!!

motherofsnortpigs · 18/05/2020 21:48

@kkr168 I think you’re ok with occasional use of ibuprofen up to 30 weeks.

EithneBlue · 18/05/2020 21:53

@kkr168 NHS Guidelines on ibuprofen are here not advised without speaking to a GP or pharmacist www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/can-i-take-ibuprofen-when-i-am-pregnant/

EithneBlue · 18/05/2020 22:00

@nroseh Welcome! Sorry to hear about the extra stress of your results I think the really important thing to remember is that 1 in 93 is still only just over 1% -- so the odds are still in your favour. Has your midwife given you further options?

skinnyhotchoc · 18/05/2020 22:05

@nroseh can you pay for a harmony test? I think that may give you more info

nroseh · 18/05/2020 22:17

@EithneBlue @skinnyhotchoc thanks so much for the responses!
I’ve decided on the Iona test (I believe it’s the same as harmony? They do it at the hospital, it’s a private blood test)
I know the results could have been worse but it’s just so very worrying!
I hope everything turns out ok and can look forward to my little bundle of joy. Due 13th November.
I’ll post back my results so at least if anyone else has these odds / risks it can provide a little guidance x

Amymone · 18/05/2020 22:56

Hi everyone,

So pleased today's scans went well 💐

Unfortunately not a great result for us today. NT measurement confirmed as too high. Very strange territory, and think we have some difficult decisions coming up 😢

excitednerves · 19/05/2020 05:36

@Babyhope98 @ChampooPapi @Pe4nutsmum @Beccarans89 just reading back through yesterday’s posts, congrats on your scans! I was in a massive bubble of relief and didn’t really pay attention yesterday.

@Amymone the NT measurement is just one part. I hope you get more details soon to help you make your decisions. So so hard. X

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

skinnyhotchoc · 19/05/2020 08:04

@Amymone how stressful sorry it wasn't better news. What's the next step? Xx

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 08:16

@Amymone really sorry to hear it wasn't a good result for the nt measurement. What was your harmony results? I'm sorry if I missed them coming back and you posted

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 08:19

Yes good luck to everyone having theirs scans today 🙌👣

Remember if you've had the harmony/nipy/Iona ect the NHS screening still tests for Papp-a which for example my harmony did not so still have the tests!

Just disregard the results as they are superceeded by the nipt due to them being actual DNA testing .

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 08:20

And No. You are definitely not supposed to take ibuprofen so please dont unless you have been specifically prescribed it by a doctor
