@Amymone and @Nroseh sorry to hear you've both not had good results. Amymone, dud you have the blood tests as well? I did read on my ovia app yesterday that the combined screening has a 5% false positive rate, here's the text:

"Using an ultrasound, your healthcare provider will measure the amount of fluid behind Baby Bean’s neck, which can be a sign of Down Syndrome or other abnormalities when the amount is too high. This is known as Nuchal Translucency Screening.

You will have blood drawn, which healthcare providers will check for levels of Pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA) and human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), as lower or higher than normal amounts, respectively, can indicate chromosomal abnormalities.

Although these screening tests can identify about 85% of abnormalities, they also have an approximately 5% false positive rate. And because the amount of babies with abnormalities is so much smaller than the amount of healthy babies, the 5% of false positives represent a significant portion of those whose tests raised red flags. This means that only about 1 out of every 200 First Trimester Screening positives are actually cases of chromosomal abnormalities. So although all babies who screen positive will be referred to further, more conclusive diagnostic testing like amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling, a positive result on the First Trimester Screening is not a sure-fire indicator of a genetic condition."

Sorry @kkr168 - you should probably speak to your GP...
This is detailed information (the follow through link from the NHS website). A single dose of ibuprofen at this stage in a pregnancy is very unlikely to do the baby any harm.

@RunnerGirl123 excellent post. The NHS test is really not very accurate and causes a lot of worry but it is the best the system has currently in place.

But honestly it will turn out absolutely fine @Amymone especially if your nipt results were low risk I mean the only next choice is amio or CVS, and I know that sounds so scary but their stats are a bit old for that test now and a good doctor who has a fair amount of experience will loose non of the babies he performs it on. Many of them have 100% success in obtaining the information they need without miscarriage and those statistics are just skewed by less experienced practitioners in the past who were performing the operation maybe twenty years ago. These are still included in their likely to miscarry percentages.

Anyone who is now performing the amio or CVS at your local hospital will have done it hundreds and hundreds of times.

You will be in really safe hands and perhaps if your nipt results are good as they are really very accurate the nucal.fold measurement in particular might be disregarded.

So many women have had massive measurements of that and their baby has come back as 100% fine after the DNA testing after the amio

@motherofsnortpigs people though particularly who had had ivf or multiple losses or are on other medication shouldn't take it. Especially certain kind of epilepsy medication if I remember correctly

There are a lot of different fertility journeys on here so good to bare in mind

@RunnerGirl123 thank you for the information I’m really trying to stay positive
@Amymone I’d be interested to know what your blood results were (your midwife should give you a level in ‘MoM’) then in turn what your risk level of any abnormalities. My reading for Down’s syndrome is 1:93 chance....I’ve opted for the IONA test at the hospital (which I’m to pay for) which will give me a clearer outcome.
The NT reading is just one element and the lots of healthy babies are born with higher than ‘normal’ NT numbers.
Fingers crossed everything will be ok. I opted not to have cvs or amnio just as the risk of miscarriage is 1 in 100 (but that’s a personal choice)

Happy there’s lots of good news at the minute for everyone ❤️

Teaandbiscuits123 · 19/05/2020 09:14

Morning all, I’m sorry that a couple of you are having such a worrying time. I’m afraid I don’t have any advice but I can see that there has been lots from others.

I just wanted to say that this is such a lovely, supportive group and I’m so happy that I found it - you’re all a great bunch! Flowers Xx

motherofsnortpigs · 19/05/2020 09:20

@ChampooPapi I think we conclude that the answer to the question, ‘Can I take ibuprofen during pregnancy?’ is far more nuanced than a straight ‘yes’ or ‘no’

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 09:34

@Teaandbiscuits123 well right back at you, you've been so open hearted and lovely on here. It's been such a port in a storm hasn't it for so many women. Me especially! 💜

OP posts:
Teaandbiscuits123 · 19/05/2020 09:36

@ChampooPapi ❤️❤️❤️ It really is! Xx

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 09:39

I think you’re ok with occasional use of ibuprofen up to 30 weeks

@motherofsnortpigs

Sorry that's not my conclusion. It is not advised to ever take ibuprofen in the first 30 weeks. So the complete opposite of what you said.

You, even on your 6th, shouldn't be taking it. Sorry if this offends you but it's just not advised.

And if your an ivf pregnancy it's actually really dangerous to take it!

lionsmum · 19/05/2020 09:39

@Amymone I'm so sorry you received a worrying result at your scan, keeping you in my thoughts that everything will turn out ok🌟 having a baby who isn't well is something I know so much about, it's such a worrying time, but I hope for a positive outcome for you!

@Snowwhite2020 I think they vary a lot for sure, but hopefully they let you do something like that. When is your scan?😊

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 09:40

After 30 weeks it can be taken if a certified medical practitioner tells you

OP posts:
Babyhope98 · 19/05/2020 09:51

Did anyone get offered the medical exemption certificate form at their scan? As my scan was combined with my booking appointment and I wasn’t given it, wondering if everyone else didn’t either x

hollyjg · 19/05/2020 10:16

I totally agree with you @Teaandbiscuits123 I'm sorry I can't give more advice to those who are seeking it.
But it's been so heartwarming watching everyone else gather round and offer examples and articles. How amazing us women can be when we get together and lift each other up 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 10:16

@Babyhope98 yes the prescription exception form was in a large white envelope that came with my notes and was given to me after scan

OP posts:
hollyjg · 19/05/2020 10:20

@Babyhope98 I didn't either not sure what it even is?

Babyhope98 · 19/05/2020 10:24

@ChampooPapi just double checked through mine I couldn’t find it, I suppose I’ll have to contact my midwife 😑

@hollyjg it’s so you don’t have to pay for prescription and dental charges while pregnant and for a year after birth so it’s worth having 😊

peachypetite · 19/05/2020 11:43

Sorry that some of you are feeling worried. I hope you get the answers you need, there is very good support on this forum in general eg antenatal tests. On a lighter note, sainsburys TU have 25% off today so I have treated myself to some summer dresses. I think things without a waistband are the way forward. I particularly like the fact they have lots of cotton and linen. Polyester is just awful in the sun and I imagine it to be even worse when you’re pregnant to boot.

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 11:54

Hi everyone, I had my nhs scan this morning. I saw the brain, spine, heart and was told all looked normal. Baby had bubbles in it’s tummy so apparently that’s a sign digestion is developing well.

Baby not really playing ball for sonographer- was upside down then sitting up but she did get a measurement and said looked good and I’m 12+5 today!

NT measurement was 1.7. No idea if this is good or not but will likely be a bit anxious until results of bloods through but that’s another milestone and the baby was looking well. Amazing to see toes!!

@Amymone I’m so sorry to hear you had a worrying result. I hope you get the support and reassurance you need in the next few days and weeks. You really are in my thoughts 💐

@nroseh I’m sorry you too are feeling distressed by your result. Please do keep us informed of what the further test says, as I am sure there is not uncommon and there will be other ladies in your position who would find the info helpful. I hope you are looking after yourself today 💖

@lionsmum thanks for the advice! We are looking into it- great tip!

And to all the other ladies with positive scans- congratulations and to all the ladies with scans this week and next good luck. It is such a crazy time. I’m glad we can provide support for each other 💖☘️👶🏼 💐

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 11:55

@Babyhope98 mine came in the post :)

roro87 · 19/05/2020 12:05

Hi All. I've my scan in a little over an hour and have just been hit with the devastating news that my grandmother has passed away this morning. I'm now a complete mess and don't know what to do. I'm afraid to go to my scan in case it is more bad news. Feel like that news is a bad omen

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2020 12:12

@Snowwhite2020 so pleased and relieved that everything went well with your scan lovely. Congratulations on reaching your second trimester 💜✨🙌

@roro87 oh my god that is terrible, I'm so sorry. It's absolutely not an omen, it is just an awful awful thing to happen to you. You are not going to get any more bad news today. I promise we are here for you for a virtual handhold all the way there and through it. You must be devastated, please let us know how it goes today if you can. So sorry for your loss 😔

OP posts:
peachypetite · 19/05/2020 12:15

@roro87 that’s awful news I’m so sorry. Take it easy today lovely.

@Snowwhite2020 how’s your nausea? Did the sonographer give you that measurement during the scan? Mine just told me baby looked great and nothing to worry about.

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 12:20

@roro87 I am so sorry to hear that. Maybe you could call the scanning centre and explain and see if they can give you another booking before the end of the week? Just to give yourself a bit of time today? It depends entirely on how you feel. I am so sorry.

@ChampooPapi thank you lovely 🙋🏻‍♀️

@peachypetite I have not been so physically sick but still heaving unfortunately and still not managing most foods. Sign. The litre of water first thing this morning was a real challenge and definite danger zone... lol. I do think it is better overall though than it was a couple of weeks ago. How are you?

Snowwhite2020 · 19/05/2020 12:20

@peachypetite I specifically asked for the measurement x
