Told wrong gender at ultrasound??

Has anyone ever been told boy and it turned out to be a girl? Or the other way around?

My 16 week ultrasound at window to the womb looks like a girl in some images but I was told boy. I know they are probably correct but feel like I can’t buy anything yet as it doesn’t look very ‘boyish’.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

The only reason I want to know my baby's sex is because where I live you only get 72 hours to register the birth so we need time to choose a name.

If I have a girl this time then yeah I probably will get her a few little dresses, but honestly, first time round I didn't buy my son anything I wouldn't be able to reuse for a second baby of the opposite sex.

And don't even get me started on personalised stuff... it's so wasteful. As soon as your baby has outgrown it you can't even really give it away unless you know someone with a child of the same name, so it'll probably end up in landfill.

So I was convinced this time round I was having a girl, really get it like I did when I had my boy I new deep down was a boy, did the ring test said boy along with other old wives tales… did it all this time all says girl still to this day paid god nub theory and it confirmed girl.. for scan told boy.. part of me still thinks it’s a girl ! 9 weeks until we find out for definite 😆

Makes you wonder how we all managed before parents were told the sex at the scan.

Actually I do know. For starters no-one i knee having babies when I did ( mid to late 80s) bought loads of stuff before the birth. It was the norm to wait until the safe arrival. We'd buy the basics for the first few weeks (unisex babygros, nappies, feeding stuff etc) and the rest came later. Often even the pram was ordered but not delivered until the baby was (Mothercare would store them until the arrival).

Wanting to buy gendered stuff at only 16 weeks pregnant seems nuts to me, for any number of reasons.

Looks ‘boyish’ in what way? Did you expect him to have a football and a train set in there?

In seriousness, I think the qualified staff doing the scan are probably going to know better than you.

😂funniest reply ever!

OP I was told boy and when she came out they had to repeat themselves three times cause I couldn’t believe I had a girl, was very much expecting a boy.

whateveryouwantmetosay · 10/06/2022 04:39

Yep. Was told girl and my boy is almost 8.

LongLiveLiz · 10/06/2022 06:05

I understand why people find out but finding out when the baby arrives is the best thing after the hard work of giving birth.
Whatever you have, good luck and congratulations Flowers

What do you need to buy for a baby that’s gender specific???

mnnewbie111 · 10/06/2022 06:20

Lols, the kids is 18 months old now. 😂😂

Lizziejane95 · 31/10/2022 22:34

Just had a gender reveal scan at 22 weeks to reveal I’m having my 2nd boy ! I was happy with either as long as baby was healthy.. but I can’t make out my scan picture and it looks different compared to my first. The Willy almost seems detached ?! Can anyone else make it out ?!

Mariam21 · 01/12/2022 22:34

Hi im the same boat? Did yu end up having a boy then?

summersounds · 24/01/2023 16:28

First pregnancy told a girl and baby was a boy ! Second pregnancy they predicted child correctly of the gender being a boy

Hlflf · 25/01/2023 13:51

No one. Weds to be slavered at only asking a question don’t like it don’t reply ! It’s hit a crime to want to no the sex like 😂😂

Hlflf · 25/01/2023 13:52

I am pregnant with my 3rd and prayed it was a girl, as I have 2 boys, baby actually has Gastroschisis, had 13 week scan and they said boy. I am hoping they are wrong lol. I doubt they would tell me it’s another boy if they weren’t completely sure

Lynzi01 · 31/05/2023 01:10

2 boys was praying for my third to be a girl, was told boy cried for weeks was so upset about it ! Have a beautiful baby boy who’s 9 months and I would change him for no girl !! It will be fine, you’re just meant to be a boy mom ! 💙 it’s fine to feel the way your fine don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ! But he will be perfect !

45mummy · 01/06/2023 00:29

I was told girl at ultrasound, and it was a girl when I gave birth, it was only 11 years later we realised we had a boy. He's a strapping 20 year old with a deep voice and facial hair now thanks to the right hormones.

It's really not worth stressing over this in pregnancy!

Jas2134 · 30/05/2024 23:09

can someone look at this please, this is my second child which I found out is another boy. I am happy of course , but I wanted a girl so bad. I had this scan at 16 weeks window to the womb, could it be wrong ?
