Hi all, sorry I haven't been checking in much! Now 29+3 and ticking along ok. Been diagnosed with gestational diabetes which is a bit rubbish but what can you do! As a result I'm not making any kind of birth plan until my 36 weeks clinic appointment as will need to see where we are at that point. All genetic unfortunately, even with no other risk factors I've ended up with it!

DPSawMyUsername · 01/09/2020 07:43

I love seeing people's opinions on the possible restriction of visitors, makes me feel I'm not OTT because I'm sick of it being hinted at that I am now, but as the OH keeps reminding me - they don't get it! They're not pregnant in a pandemic no matter how low or high the transmissions/cases are.

We'll be quite selfish on visitors and I don't care who I upset from it. I've been able to see how they're living through this and I know who I'm comfy with allowing into my home never mind touching baby.

His mum and dad have shielded, online shopped, are retired so have and are still playing it super safe as they're in the elderly vulnerable category.
His sister and her hubby are teachers, they're back today, even though they've played it safe their work is going to wipe that out so that's a play by ear.

My Aunty goes to the pub for a meal with her friends every Friday, she's totally allowed to do that, she doesn't have to live on level 4 or 5 like we should. But that also means you're coming nowhere near us for a long time. I've also witnessed how she just does not understand social distancing. 🙈

Wise0wl · 01/09/2020 22:36

@DPSawMyUsername I think you’ve summed it up really well. Saw a couple of different friends over the last week who all went in for a hug and I just ducked out the way! I don’t judge others for what they do, but I will be keeping my baby safe when he arrives!

@Hatepickinganame glad you’re feeling better 🙂

@Lola871 so sorry to hear about the GD, but it sounds like you’re doing the right thing by not making a birth plan until later on to keep things flexible. Fingers crossed

professorastrocat · 02/09/2020 09:46

Hey @Lola871 nice to see you! Glad you're well despite the GD.

@Hatepickinganame glad you're feeling better but not good about not hearing from anyone, have you still had no follow up? To be honest I've yet again switched midwives a million times and when I rang one of them a few weeks ago their voicemail just said she was away and do not leave her a message 🤯

It's hard with the distancing thing, not being able to hug family, feel like it will be even more important with my boy back at school in his 'bubble' that isn't really a bubble.

Oh @Lola871 - sorry to hear about the GD!

I was always told to expect/be prepared to develop GD in both pregnancies after I had a really bad a case of acute pancreatitis in my 20's makes the likelihood much higher - but my GTT came back absolutely fine this time around as well! it really is down to luck!

MummyBearBoo · 03/09/2020 22:10

Thanks @whatsthecraic91 ,lovely pic @calimommy!

Finally spoke to anaesthetist so can start on my birth plan my next fetal medicine appt and scan on Tuesday also got a text from hospital saying DH can come with me as 1 person is allowed from 1st September!!

I'm 34 weeks almost 35 but likely to be induced at 38w +6 if she doesn't arrive before then -bloody hell ladies it's like 4 weeks away OMG I'm massive now it grows everyday and my SPD is awful but also baby occasionally puts pressure on my femoral nerve which means i can't walk on my left leg at all!!

See if my bump is still measuring ahead tomorrow and see how much baby weighs Tuesday- 4 weeks ago she was 4lbs in 50th centile!!

This one sleeps with her foot sticking out between my split stomach muscles high up as she's head down!!

I'm finding this pregnancy so much harder than the first as i didn't have SOD and I was no where near as big!! Xx

professorastrocat · 04/09/2020 10:15

Wow that's really soon! I'm 33 weeks today so feels like it's rapidly becoming very real too!
Baby is also head down and has had her foot jabbing in the same place for weeks including under my ribs at night. Sounds more comfortable than between stomach muscles though 😬😘

It's funny about the scans and measurements they do because I'm being monitored to ensure growth doesn't slow and my 32 week scan said she was 4lb 2oz and I'm not that big! I'm not bothered what she is as long as she keeps growing enough. My lad was on 6th centile at 39 weeks so was induced.

Hatepickinganame · 04/09/2020 10:41

26 weeks today for me, have a growth scan in 2 weeks. Wondering if they will tell me she's a giant baby like her brothers were 🙄🙄 had a horrible week, been so poorly. Had a stomach bug or something yesterday but seem ok today. On the plus side actual maternity clothes have arrived! Definitely needed some bigger stuff now. And her car seat is also here. Just a travel system, cot and some clothes to sort now! Hows everyone else?

professorastrocat · 04/09/2020 11:07

Poor you @Hatepickinganame you've had it rough this last week!

OP posts:
Hatepickinganame · 04/09/2020 12:16

@professorastrocat i know 🙄 hopefully that means the next few weeks will be nice and calm lol but she's kicking around like crazy so fairly sure she's ok even if ive felt terrible!

MummyBearBoo · 05/09/2020 15:35

Hope you're still feeling better @Hatepickinganame!
@professorastrocat -I'm in similar position as you pretty much I've got another growth scan Tuesday to check she's still growing my last DD was born 38w+5 days spontaneously and was on 2nd centilitre at 5lb 8oz but I had growth scans with her which were all fine and she never stopped growing!
They're checking more this time coz of complications associated with my first TFMR!
Midwife measured me Friday and I'm still off the growth chart measuring ahead baby has been 50th centile last 2 scans se see what she is this time MW said she thought she'd be on 60th but we'll see! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 05/09/2020 15:39

She wriggles none stop I'm sure she doesn't sleep and makes sure I don't either!!! Little tinker!! Xx

Hatepickinganame · 07/09/2020 08:23

Thanks guys, just feel really run down now, like i could sleep for a week. Yet go to bed and i cant nod off or i wake up twelve billion times to pee 😂

professorastrocat · 09/09/2020 06:58

Ugh sleeping is so hard now! Anyone else have numb/painful hips and legs when lying down no matter what position you're in? Constantly waking me up.

OP posts:
Wise0wl · 09/09/2020 23:30

Yep me @professorastrocat but I’ve had a bit of success sleeping on top of a duvet which provides a bit more padding for my poor hip joints!

Time is flying so fast and I’m so torn between being excited, worried (mainly about covid and what an increase in cases might mean for DH coming to hospital) and also a bit sad as I also love it just being me and DH and life is about to change forever during this weird time anyway. Hope you’re all doing ok!

MummyBearBoo · 10/09/2020 06:17

My hips are sore but it's needing to pee 4 times a night that's waking me up i always need to pee at about 4am then I can't get back to sleep coz of heartburn like now -?plus baby is awake and wriggling at this time sticking her feet out of my stomach!!

Got a date for my induction which is 5th October like 3 weeks snd 4 days!! Aghhh!!!

I know it's hormones but I'm starting to worry that I won't get that rush of love like I had with DD I know If I don't it will come and I will love this baby just as much but I'm worried about this!!

@Wise0wl -one of my blue days after DD was about how mine and DH's lives have totally changed but you get used to having a new addition and when they get a bit older and you get your evenings back you can get back some of the time you used to have together! Although for me arm I'm going to bed same time as DD but can't sleep straight away it's just that our bed is the most comfortable place! Xxx

Hatepickinganame · 10/09/2020 08:01

@MummyBearBoo feel you on the need to pee... finally dozed off about 1am, woke up at 2, 4 and 5.30am 😏 still 13 weeks to go for me... ill be a zombie by my due date 😂 and my week of being ill got worse, im now having to self inject with blood thinning stuff as they suspect dvt although havent dianosed it 🙄🤯

MummyBearBoo · 10/09/2020 08:40

@Hatepickinganame -oh no! I'm on Aspirin in case but think I'm gonna have to stop them soon coz I have a risk of excessive bleeding after delivery!!

I just want to meet her now -my bump measures big every time and my hips ache and my legs are struggling so I'm ready to meet my little girl - though I know it's better for her to stay in til just over 38 weeks so her lungs mature!! Xx

professorastrocat · 10/09/2020 10:58

I've been referred for physio for the pain but probably won't ring me until after she's been born! @MummyBearBoo 5th Oct is soon! Very exciting. Try not to put pressure on yourself re bonding, it will come and even if it's not straight away that's normal too. I think it's normal for us having subsequent babies to worry about this. I literally couldn't love anybody more than I love my son but I've been reassured that your heart just expands for more love, haha. 💕

@Wise0wl similarly it's such a big adjustment having a baby, you won't have time to consciously think about missing life as it was initially but at the same time it's good to acknowledge the feelings and find little ways to connect during the day that keep you grounded in your own relationship.

Prof Amy Brown has a new book coming out I think next month about the first year of life with a baby and having read her other books and volunteer in same org as her I can already recommend this will be great - it covers so much and she writes in such an easy down to earth way. One to read before babies arrive maybe!

@Hatepickinganame sorry things are still stressful with health issues!

Talcott2007 · 10/09/2020 11:07

So a little update - all the various meetings with specialist and scans have gone well for little miss over the last week - in a nutshell the congenital heart defect - while still serious and will need OH surgery to correct at about 6mths is very much on the mild end of the spectrum for the condition so outcomes are expected to be really positive. They have given me a date for induction (21st October) when I will be 38w. Eeekk! its really the home stretch now!

MummyBearBoo · 10/09/2020 11:35

That good news @Talcott2007 xx

Hatepickinganame · 10/09/2020 11:42

@talcott2007 ah thats a lovely update, so glad things are looking more positive for you! Cant believe some of these babies are going to be here next month! Time is just flying past! And thanks guys, im ok, just a sore leg and a bruised belly lol. Those injections dont half sting afterwards! Also had my whooping cough jab and my flu jab this week so feeling like a pin cushion 😂😂😂

DPSawMyUsername · 10/09/2020 19:19

2nd growth scan in 3 weeks. Supposedly weighing in at 4lb 💙 only 8 weeks to go today!

Thank you @MummyBearBoo and @professorastrocat - you are both very wise.

@Talcott2007 that’s such good news!

@DPSawMyUsername lovely scan pic, time is absolutely flying past isn’t it

professorastrocat · 11/09/2020 14:30

@Talcott2007 that's great news, and yes home stretch now!

I'm so excited about seeing some baby pics (if people are wanting to share!)

Nice scan pic @DPSawMyUsername I've got my next growth scan two weeks today. Everything is looking positive so far, despite people telling me I look small, I'm just ignoring them! I'm def bigger than last time anyway, just ask my stretch marks 😬
