Hi!
Just got my BFP this weekend.
I got my first faint positive Friday morning with an frer, and today it's much darker (11dpo)!

Leading up to my bfp, I've had icky feeling, tiredness, dizzy spells, headaches, cramps.
Not feeling as icky as with my last pregnancy yet though!
Provisional due date of 7th January using the NHS calculator.

Come and join once you've got your bfp for January 2021, for a few pregnancy pals!

@Milkshake54 just rang my early pregnancy assessment unit in local hospital and they just told me that they are only dealing with people at the moment that have cramps and bleeding- which is completely understandable and I am so thankful that I have neither of these. She did say my gp should be in contact with my midwife and my midwife should then be in contact with me so I guess it's just a waiting game and hope they contact me before the 12-13 week mark. She was lovely and as she is only deployed to that unit at the moment with everything going on that that's all she knew and all she could tell me. Thanks so much for the advice tho as she was a lot more welcoming that my gp receptionist

DressingGownofDoom · 12/05/2020 16:07

First time mum...sorry it won't let me tag you but I also live in NI and I think from the details you've given I know where you live. I live in the same trust and the GP refers you and then you'll get a letter through soon asking you to fill out some details and with a date for your first scan/booking in which they will do around 12 weeks. Hope this helps!

Firsttimemumma1990 · 12/05/2020 16:14

@Beautybake5 ooo so close to mine, the NHS website says 15th Jan. By my calculations I say 18th Jan. What have you done so far? Have you self referred? I have not done anything, I need to get my act together and do some research Confused

FirstTimeMumAt31 · 12/05/2020 16:22

@DressingGownofDoom oh really?! I'm in Fermanagh- I'm quite curious now as to if you have gotten it right? Grin.. thank you for your help too, just wait on mr postie then and stop being so impatient! I suffer from anxiety in certain situations in general so I'm thinking this is partly why I'm so anxious atm to speak to someone.

Firsttimemuma1990 it's confusing isn't it, will be nice to no an actual date. I rang my doctor this morning and she just took a few details and said a midwife will be in contact between 8-10weeks. Don't worry you've got time, I'm just a control freak & wanted to get it out the way 😂. Have you had any symptoms yet? Xx

whatsthecraic91 · 12/05/2020 17:20

@FirstTimeMumAt31 hey I'm in Northern Ireland too. I self referred to the Lagan valley and they phoned me to say they will see me when I'm 11-12 weeks and do the booking and scan all in one day. They won't see you before then so they told me just to relax and take my vitamins until I get my appointment letter. Hope this helps x

Jellybean252 · 12/05/2020 17:21

Welcome all newbies and congratulations!!!

I had my first chat with the midwife today. She said I'm 6 weeks pregnant which she calculated using the first day of my last period.
I'm confused now because when taking into account when I was ovulating and DTD according to my calculations I am 4 weeks. I explained this to her but she said they add 1 week each way.
Meaning the due date is VERY approximate and quite vague really.

Can someone shed some light on this- am I missing something obvious?

Carabu1 · 12/05/2020 18:03

@FirstTimeMumAt31 - receptionist are can be so marmite - my GP has one lovely one and one real dragon, so I always pray I get the nice one!

Re: booking appointment, I think it differs by area? Where I am I had to call my gp, and then about a week later received a letter with a number to call. Sadly, calling that number doesn't book an appointment - it just 'starts the process'. I've heard nothing since.... I'm 7 weeks now, and I think if I haven't heard by 8 weeks I will chase it up. I agree that it's a bit worrying - like you I'm a first timer - but for now I'm just going to go with it. I guess they are probably busy, and really there isn't much a midwife can do this early anyway.

Baba11 · 12/05/2020 18:13

@Carabu1 how you feeling now hunni. Do you feel since you have had your scan you feel more relaxed?

Milkshake54 · 12/05/2020 18:43

@Jellybean252 they calculate your length of pregnancy from your last period, as they can’t pinpoint when people ovulate as it unique to everyone, so you add two weeks n from conception.
at your 12 week dating scan, you’ll get a much more definite date.
Hope that makes sense.

Flatwhite32 · 12/05/2020 19:05

Hi ladies! Nervously booked in with the midwife today - 11th June on the phone. No idea how they'll do bloods. Maybe separately? I'm swithering about joining the FB page due to miscarriage anxiety, but if I do join can other people see the name of the group?

Milkshake54 · 12/05/2020 19:14

@Flatwhite32 it’s called lockdown girls for discretion, I‘m pretty sure it’s private and people can’t tell you’ve joined or posted.

There’s lots of people in the same boat with miscarriage anxiety (me included!) so you’ll be in good company if you do decide to join ❤️

Flatwhite32 · 12/05/2020 19:24

Anyone else got hardly any symptoms? I have nothing apart from sore boobs and bloating. I have no nausea or fatigue. I'm sure I was tired by now with DD, although wasn't sick with her til 8 weeks. Mind you, she's a ball of energy so maybe I am tired but just don't realise as I have been tired since she was born! 😂

Carabu1 · 12/05/2020 19:30

@Baba11 - I do, thank you. It helps the spotting and cramps have stopped too! I know it’s no guarantee it will be ok, but I felt so reassuring to see a heartbeat and blob in the right place! How are you getting on?

@Flatwhite32 - I’m with you! I feel pretty much fine really - sore boobs came but then went at 5 weeks. No nausea or fatigue. I am hungry all the time though...but that may just be lockdown eating...!

Baba11 · 12/05/2020 19:30

@Flatwhite32 snap
My symptoms are fading away which doesn't help the anxiety. I am having my bloods done when I go in for my scan at 8 weeks. I am thinking of emailing the head, after the announcement that schools will be going back on the 1st June. Not sure what to say tho??!!

Carabu1 · 12/05/2020 20:23

@Baba11 I think you’re right to raise it - no one really seems to know the risks for pregnancy do they? I’m ok for now because i can work from home - but I teach at a university and if the students are back in September that’s going to be awful. Not sure I’m willing to go unless it improves tbh - but then I do need the money! So difficult.

Reynholm · 12/05/2020 20:32

Hi, joining in, according to NHS calculator am due January 15th.

Reynholm · 12/05/2020 20:33

I'm in NI too! Self referred to Royal, heard nothing yet.

inthestars90 · 12/05/2020 20:56

@Baba11 I would raise it- something like ' I'm sure you have a lot on your plate planning for having the children back in. To help with your risk management I want you to know, in confidence, that I am in the early stages of pregnancy. 'Then maybe mention any other risks specific to you/ your pregnancy ? I would at least start the conversation but without too much pressure to give them time to think? Good luck!

BabyG123 · 12/05/2020 21:24

I'm back to work already. As far as I'm aware they only say from 3rd trimester to isolate but they don't have much when it comes to
Evidence yet.

Although you're protected whilst pregnancy employment wise I'm not sure how it would go with refusing to go in 🤷🏻‍♀️

Baba11 · 12/05/2020 22:07

Thanks ladies
I did speak to the midwife today and she advised me to let them know. She said pregnancy at whatever stage is classed as vulnerable and you need to be shielded.
Thanks @inthestars90 might use that wording..

@Carabu1 are you feeling ok hunni?

BabyG123 · 12/05/2020 22:33

www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/2020-04-21-occupational-health-advice-for-employers-and-pregnant-women.pdf

No guidelines say that as this stage.

Every person in a work environment should be only in work if the guidelines can be followed anyway....

DressingGownofDoom · 12/05/2020 22:33

@FirstTimeMumAt31 oh no I was wrong! I thought you were Coleraine Grin

So happy there's a few of us NI ladies on this thread! There was only 1 on my last ante natal group but we did end up meeting up and becoming good friends!

Han2912 · 12/05/2020 22:49

Hello all! 5 weeks and 4 days today after a Chemical pregnancy in January. It’s been long awaited and just trying to remain positive. Had to force myself to stop googling every tiny little niggle and taking each day as it comes. Really want to enjoy this pregnancy instead of feeling stressed 😭. Glad to have found this thread as I’m sure everyone is feeling the same! Sending you all positive thoughts 🤍🥰
