Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@Jasminex1 I take this boots combined folic and vitamin d www.boots.com/boots-folic-acid--vitamin-d-60-tablets-10273999

Jasminex1 · 24/04/2020 09:21

Thanks everyone 🥰 @peachypetite I've gone for those!

peachypetite · 24/04/2020 09:24

Great! Happy to help. I haven’t found they make me nauseous and they are small and easy to swallow

ChampooPapi · 24/04/2020 09:32

I'd recommend this extra liquid iron to everyone too. When I had my iron levels checked with each pregnancies I've been on this stuff and was told they were some of the best levels they had ever seen in a pregnant woman. It is 🔥 ladies. It's also perfect to take with the boots/superdrug folic and vit d suppliments as well. You are totally covered in what you should be taking then

@restorationinsanity fingers crossed my anxiety does lessen but after watching Life and Birth yesterday there's plenty whirring around in my head! So grateful for everyone's support here Smile

Is anyone struggling with sleeping habits? I used to fall asleep and sleep deeply but these days I struggle and had about 5 hours last night. What wouldn't I give for a cup of coffee right now ha!

peachypetite · 24/04/2020 09:51

@SYVH I’m in bed by 9pm and usually sleep until 6am but have started waking up needing to wee in the night which is annoying and I can’t always get back to sleep.

SYVH · 24/04/2020 09:54

@peachypetite yes me too! I had, clearly mistakenly, thought that only started once the baby was larger and started to press on your bladder etc! Ahh I've got so much to learn about everything!

EithneBlue · 24/04/2020 10:01

I think I must be hormonal this morning: I just slammed shut all my windows and patio doors in an actual rage because my neighbours are smoking in their garden and it's coming straight in to my house. And their kids are shrieking like banshees out there, inhaling the smoke and clearly not bothering to do anything of educational value (and here I am, stuck inside, working all day :( ).

CSR4 · 24/04/2020 10:20

@RestorationInsanity thanks for your reply! Glad to know it’s not just me! I keep reminding myself to be thankful I’m not feeling so terrible like others!
Having said that this morning waves of headache, nausea and dizziness have come at me full force!

Amymone · 24/04/2020 10:29

@SYVH are we not supposed to be drinking coffee at all? I've been having one a day but mixing half caff / half decaf

Jasminex1 · 24/04/2020 10:42

@Amymone if it helps I've switched to decaf only for tea and coffee x

SYVH · 24/04/2020 10:43

@Amymone I think that the guidelines are that 200mg a day is absolutely fine (2 cups of instant I think?) but I stopped having any when I saw my bfp. I'm a bit anxious about everything and didn't want to worry about caffeine intake! It's so sad as I had just bought a new coffee machine- I now have a cup of decaf tea in the mornings though and it's largely fine. Just feeling the effects of not enough sleep today that all Smile

peachypetite · 24/04/2020 10:49

I’ve stopped all caffeine too. In weeks 4/5 I had decaf tea but when the nausea properly kicked in tea and coffee was the last thing I wanted.

Amymone · 24/04/2020 10:50

That makes sense. I have to say I went off it for a few weeks so largely stopped but my coffee appetite seems to be returning! Not for tea though...not currently a fan of that. I enjoy the little caffeine 'bump' I get from spiking my decaf with normal caf. It's the small things!! Grin

JustFrigginNameChange · 24/04/2020 11:44

@ChampooPapi the only thing I'm struggling with really is getting up in the morning, the exhaustion is immense! But it disappears once I've walked around for a bit. I would love to do a nursing degree! But i didn't complete college so I'd have to do an access course first and i just don't have the time or money to do that. I've tried college 5 times and I always get bored and leave. Id love to be able to learn on the job

JustFrigginNameChange · 24/04/2020 11:46

@peachypetite i had this, the first thing i went off was coffee. I have a jar of decaf gathering dust in the cupboard. The thought of it still makes me feel queasy

RestorationInsanity · 24/04/2020 11:50

I'm so glad I can still cope with tea. I often didn't eat breakfast or would eat it late, around 10-10.30 but I can't go that long without eating now so first thing when I wake up, it's a digestive biscuits and a cup of tea which calms the early sickiness down. My nausea feels like when you're really hungry, that sort of gnawing feeling, but then when I eat I feel really bloated and get indigestion! Am feeling very lucky I haven't actually been sick.

I'm peeing two or three times a night now, and get really twitchy restless legs in the early hours.

I've given up caffeine but never really noticed it's effects anyone so it's easier just to go decaf and not have to keep track of caffeine intake.

RestorationInsanity · 24/04/2020 12:05

@CSR4 just when you think you've got a reprieve and start to panic, new things kick in! Frequent peeing and being thirsty at night is a new one for me this week. I've stopped having cramps now too and started getting sort of stretching pains on the inside of my hips. I suffer with sciatica and as there's no sign of my osteo being able to open for a while I'm hoping yoga and exercise will be sufficient to keep my back in good shape.

ChampooPapi · 24/04/2020 12:13

How are you doing
@Ausbaby43? 😊

ChampooPapi · 24/04/2020 12:15

@Bobbieblu when your next scan for the twins? I've still got a week and a half till my next one, it is going to be torturously slow I fear waiting for it to come

OP posts:
peachypetite · 24/04/2020 12:18

I can’t believe how frequently I’m going to the toilet! During the day too! @SYVH I also mistakenly thought that it wouldn’t be an issue until much later down the line. @EithneBlue I’ve had a few ragey moments too!

Bobbieblu · 24/04/2020 12:34

@champoopapi next scan is a week on Tuesday. It feels like ages away! It’s another private one and was trying to balance wanting the reassurance of seeing the babies again (fingers crossed) and leaving it long enough for the risks of things going wrong to start going down. Is yours that week too? Speaking to our consultant tonight and going to ask their thoughts on the harmony test etc.

Has anyone else been having very vivid dreams?? I had a horrendous one last night where we forgot that we had the babies and went out for the day, we then realise when we were a couple of hours away from home that we really should be at home with them! Panic...

RestorationInsanity · 24/04/2020 12:36

@peachypetite I think at the moment the peeing is hormones, whereas later its uterus/baby pushing down. Seems like second trimester is our window of opportunity not to spend all our time in the bathroom!

EithneBlue · 24/04/2020 12:53

Oh, my scan letter just came in the post! 15th May (so 12+2), which is actually my husband's birthday :-)

I'm still drinking coffee - one real filter coffee in the morning and then decaf for the rest of the day. I've not gone off it exactly, but I've definitely not enjoyed it as much as I previously did. I think I'm drinking it out of habit, more than anything.

Genuinely though, I'm grumpy today: my husband just tried to give me a hug and I was like NOPE NOPE GET OFF NOPE. I've gone upstairs to work in the front room with balcony doors open and now there's no smoke smell but terrible music coming from somewhere. I might give up on school at precisely 3.30pm today.

Jasminex1 · 24/04/2020 12:53

@RestorationInsanity @peachypetite the dream of sleeping through the night and not needing to go to the bathroom!😂 Do either of you feel like we still have a long way to go until the second trimester? I feel like time is at a standstill!
