Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@lionsmum that’s great :)

RunnerGirl123 · 08/05/2020 18:20

@firstbabybell that's exactly how I feel - all of it haha!! I'm only on 3 pessaries a day but still feel like I'm planning my day around inserting them. Can't believe you're on 6! I've also declared a sex ban until they're finished, I can't imagine the mess! I'm waiting for a consultant telephone appointment to find out when I can stop taking the medications I'm on to help the pregnancy, and definitely hoping this one finishes at 12 weeks!!

Pinktruffle · 08/05/2020 18:29

@firstbabybell 6 a day!! You poor thing! I'm on pessaries too but only 2 a day now and only 1 packet left so I'm nearly done. I've had a few scans already due to IVF and a scare but I have my official NHS one at 13+1 on 22nd. I had a private scan on Wednesday and baby was actually measuring a little big which was a nice surprise, I'm hoping it means baby is healthy.

ChampooPapi · 08/05/2020 18:35

@lionsmum absolutely fantastic news! Well done you, it is a really hard build up and you are out the other side smiling now. Lovely little bean photo too!

@Amymone it can be watery yes. There’s a spectrum of symptoms. I think it’s usually watery if it’s become complicated..: worth checking with your Gp and seeing if you can try treatment for that. It could also just be another weird pregnancy symptom? There is a lot going on!

RunnerGirl123 · 08/05/2020 18:42

@Pinktruffle fantastic news, congrats on your IVF pregnancy. Glad your scans have all been good so far, not too long to wait until your next one!

ChampooPapi · 08/05/2020 18:42

@Amymone those measurements are taken at your 12 week scan and absolutely can't be done until at least 11 and a half weeks. Either privately or through the NHS. I had my nipt yesterday and she scanned and measured the featus for dating, to confirm they could do the nipt/harmony, but she confirmed that the other measurements including the nucal fold are taken at my NHS screening or can be booked privately from 11 and a half weeks.

What was the woman thinking! Worrying you so much, I mean if they measured my babies nucal folds they would have been large as well, their necks are developed enough so completely disregard her measurements. I'm really annoyed on your behalf, after all the build up and worry leading towards this scan for you it should have been a total relief, quick scan, lovely look at baby, confirmation you are over 10 weeks for the bloods then blood test.

Please don't worry, this was a complete error and my sonographer actually told me the reason they can't measure at the gestation you were at is because the baby has a huge growth spurt in the next week, like three or 4 whole cm's!

Make sure you still have your bloods done at the NHS 12 week scan though even though you've had the Harmony as the bloods also check for the placenta functioning. You just don't need them to test for downs, Pataus and Edwards obviously.

Congrats @Pinktruffle as well it's such a joy seeing everyone's good news!
Can't believe it's a whole month till my next scan arghhhh

Teaandbiscuits123 · 08/05/2020 19:13

@firstbabybell @RunnerGirl123

I’m also on progesterone pessaries! I take one at night before bed and then get up a couple of hours early in the morning to put the other one in so that I don't get so much of the pantyliner problem!!

Are either of you worried about coming off of them? My consultant said to stop at 12 weeks but I think I’m going to call him next week and ask about weaning off them rather than just stopping. Like everything else stopping them is making me anxious!

And poor hubby has also been on a ban lol x

Amytitch · 08/05/2020 19:33

@Amymone if you find out what it is please share! I am experiencing the exact same thing, I just assumed it was a normal symptom which maybe I shouldn't have😬
@lionsmum That must have been lovely to see your baby wriggling around, I found my early scan such a relief just to see that I actually had a baby in there and not imagining it lol

roro87 · 08/05/2020 19:38

@Amymone I have had random days where it has felt like that too but not soaking through but I can feel it and I'm quite wet. I think that can be different for everyone though.

I feel time is dragging. cannot wait until the 19th is here

firstbabybell · 08/05/2020 19:40

@teaandbiscuits123 the nurse at my 8+3 scan said that some centres stop the hormones when you get your positive test! That's for IVF though so may not apply to you.

I specifically asked about weaning & she said to just stop. I'm trusting they know what they're doing so I'm gonna go cold turkey. Really looking forward to it as I'm on progesterone injections too & oral oestrogen which I'm sure must make you feel ill.

Pinktruffle · 08/05/2020 19:45

@Teaandbiscuits123 @firstbabybell

My hospital told me to stop taking them after my 7 weeks scan when there was a heartbeat. The nurse said my ovaries were back to their normal size and producing their own progesterone now but I was afraid and insisted on carrying on with them, she rolled her eyes at me and reluctantly wrote me a prescription. She said at 12 weeks the placenta should be fully functioning and the pessaries definitely aren't needed.

firstbabybell · 08/05/2020 19:53

@pinktruffle The eye roll! 😂 That's reassuring though. The nurse that did my scan was an eye roller - felt like she was really cross with me but I'm not sure what for?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Snowwhite2020 · 08/05/2020 19:58

Great news @Pinktruffle lots of positive scan stories.

@Amymone I was told the same thing that @ChampooPapi is saying at my scan last night about it being too early to tell about NT. I totally understand why it’s upsetting the way your sonographer behaved but try not to worry. There will be a reason they do this test later ❤️

Teaandbiscuits123 · 08/05/2020 19:59

@Pinktruffle yes I was also told that the placenta should have fully taken over at 12 weeks and would then produce it’s own progesterone. I think I’m just a nervous nelly!

@firstbabybell I’m taking them as after two early losses we were told that I had a short lutal phase and that it was causing a problem with implantation, the progesterone was an added boost as it was all down to my thyroid and so it could effect my progesterone too. You poor thing having to do injections ☹️

I’ve heard that you can spot if you just stop them and I think that would just push me into an anxiety overload! I will book a phone appointment with my consultant next week and see what he says - I’ll let you guys know. Hubby for one will be very happy when I stop them!!!

Snowwhite2020 · 08/05/2020 20:00

*neural translucency test sorry is what I meant there. Not sure why mumsnet changed it. That keeps happening in my messages! Sorry.

RunnerGirl123 · 08/05/2020 20:01

Mine were prescribed by my gp, under instruction from my gynae (at the fertility clinic) for natural pregnancy, following 2 early miscarriages. I'm also on daily clexane injections and low dose aspirin. My appointment with my gynae was cancelled the week of the lockdown, so haven't had a chance to speak to him since finding out I was pregnant. I'm pretty sure I end the progesterone and clexane on the day of my dating scan but waiting for further advice! I have enough progesterone to wean off but will see what the consultant says. I haven't had any scans yet, so just hoping the medication has worked and there's a little one growing inside.

Amymone · 08/05/2020 20:25

Thank you so much for your kind words @ChampooPapi . It's lovely to hear any words of confidence in this funny limbo land. You too @Snowwhite2020

Obviously I've scrutinised the videos obsessively! Hmm I've somehow managed to reassure myself that she's measured to the amniotic sack, mistaking it for the baby's skin but hopefully not just seeing what I want to. DP keeps telling me not to think about it but easier said than done! Just hope the next week goes quickly!

Thanks for your reassurance Daffodil

peachypetite · 08/05/2020 20:53

Does anyone else feel like they will never eat properly again? I haven’t eaten a proper meal in what feels like forever. This has been a particularly bad week but even when I could stomach “dinner” it would still mainly be a small bowl of pasta with some pesto or cheese.

Amymone · 08/05/2020 21:02

@peachypetite I've been struggling to fit much food in. But I've just ordered a burrito so I never learn!! 😂

peachypetite · 08/05/2020 21:08

I have no appetite at all, surviving on toast, fruit and cheese.
