Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Oh, I wrote a great long post last night and obviously pressed delete rather than post Confused
@hollyjg MATCHING BABIES! How lovely
@excitednerves I have plenty of distractions here, I’m sure the weeks will whiz by (not!)
@firstbabybell My girls are 14 and 12, and the boys are 10, 8 and 4. We thought we were done at number 4 so got a dog (who’s 6).
@Teaandbiscuits123 We have told family and a few close friends. I’m looking forward to the school gates reaction (whenever that may be).

Has anyone else had to bust out the maternity clothes already? I was glad to find a bagful in the loft, but sad to realise I’d sold all the good stuff. I’ve also got rid of the pram and the bedside crib, and most heartbreakingly, my beautiful baby wearing coat (which I shall have to replace, it was worth every penny).

Stay hydrated in the warm weather!

I'm very grateful for a bank holiday weekend right now: 'tired and emotional' is probably an accurate description of me today. Hormones are fun.

lionsmum · 07/05/2020 18:56

@motherofsnortpigs feeling the same, living in comfy leggings at the moment! I feel like because I was pregnant only 9 months ago my body has just 'popped' super early! I can tell there won't be hiding this pregnancy for much longer.

@EithneBlue hope you are doing okay and manage to get lots of rest, I felt the same on Tuesday, defeated!

@ChampooPapi I hope your scan went well today, thinking of you!

excitednerves · 07/05/2020 18:57

@motherofsnortpigs you certainly have your hands full. I have a 9 month old and I’m more relaxed and less worried than last time, but still on edge until I see that little wriggly baby with my own eyes.

Mine will be 16 months apart (or less, my first was born at 33 weeks so we’re planning that is likely to happen again). We’re any of yours so close in age? Any tips?

excitednerves · 07/05/2020 18:58

@lionsmum I’m so pleased someone else is having a second soon after their first. I feel like I still have a tummy from the first time round, people might be too polite to mention anything and assume it’s lockdown weight!

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:05

Ladies I'm so sorry I've only just updated! Everything was completely fine, measuring 11 weeks a piece, I was going mad, completely mad the 48 hours before it all. The train journey to Exeter was incredible 😆😬. I honestly felt like I was on low level anthetamins or something, I was exhausted but simoltaniously buzzing with adrenaline, it was so intense!.

The sun was streaming through the window as I passed all the beaches at dawlish on the way back. I couldn't have done it with anyone to be honest, virus or no virus. It was so unbelievably intense on the way there then return being with my own thoughts to ponder and wonder and look out and the spectacular scenery, felt so awesome, that it was just so special actually being solo and quiet.

I'll upload the photo 😊

@EithneBlue and @Bobbieblu thank you 💜

Honestly reading all your messages on the train this morning kept me from jumping out of my seat every 5 minutes. They were so generous and I really appreciated every single one of them

@champoopapi so glad the scan went well, and that you had a good experience with your journey!! Sounds so tranquil! It's nice to have you back here, although completely understand why you took a little break!

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:24

@motherofsnortpigs welcome and congratulations 🙌

I've just gone on a pyjama spree on m&s and just brought size 18 or 20 which although I'm usually a small ish 14 I will absolutely be wearing as soon as they arrive Saturday. They are fine under the bump anyway so sometimes bigger sizes are better then maternity clothing for around the house. A massive t shirt sorts out the top half. I'll link the pyjamas as they are really cute and 100 percent cotton and have a proper drawstring waist

@champoopapi congratulations! And thanks for sharing the pics. I honestly can't get over the miracle that is twins! Just shed a little tear 😥

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:32

They are two for 15 pounds and do a couple of different patterns

@eithneblue totally feel the same re the long weekend. I am pooped, this week at work has been really intense!

On the plus side I have been feeling really good today - & yesterday was a better day so maybe this is the beginning of the light at the end of the tunnel??? 11 weeks tomorrow 😁

firstbabybell · 07/05/2020 19:36

@champoopapi also I bought the iron sachets with apple. They actually taste great!

Will have a look at the PJs - am obsessed with scrolling through maternity clothes but am waiting till after 12 week scan to buy anything just in case x

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:45

@firstbabybell me neither! I just kept saying 'it's so incredible' to anything the sonographer said, staring in awe. It reinforced again my desire to do my nursing degree after these last babies are in pre school. The science behind it all is just fascinating. My mum was a nurse and then a biology teacher and when she retained doing her access course and then degree in the 90s she specialised in amionic biology (or something to that effect) and she was telling me all these other amazing things that she learnt and I was just hungry for more and more information on the whole process and everything really. Human life and the way babies develop is just endlessly interesting isn't it? She actually had a ivf doctor who taught that particular area while she was studying. The woman was a radical feminist by all accounts and my mother said that once you get a teacher like her your basically hooked into science.

@ChampooPapi I am SO pleased that all went well and thank you so much for sharing your special pictures 💐 your journey home sounds lovely too ... some space for dreaming!!

I LOVE pjs! I’ve also been having a little browse this week! GAP have a 40% off sale this weekend. After my scan I ordered a pregnancy journal and I’m going to treat myself to my first mum & baby magazine this weekend!

Do people feel the need for maternity clothes yet? I can still fit into my leggings and to be fair I’ve been living in pjs but I think I might have to invest in some maternity leggings and bigger knickers soon! 😂

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:51

@firstbabybell oh brilliant you got the spatone. Honestly the last two pregnancies I was told I had some of highest levels of iron they had seen. I gave my other pregnant friend a box and she was tested and they said her levels were amazing as well, their words were 'as high as a man's!'

It's all down to that brilliant stuff, and it's so gentle on the body and gut. Very un eco packaging but nothing beats it, it's just fantastic.

I had very very low iron in my first pregnancy 11 years ago and was prescribed the pills but with the black stools and the fact when I was next tested my levels still weren't that great I switched to spatone and never really stopped taking it.

It definitely should be available in a big glass bottle though so you can just do a shot or something

motherofsnortpigs · 07/05/2020 19:54

Ooh, thanks for the pyjama link @ChampooPapi
I had a lovely pair of maternity pj’s from Vertbaudet but the trousers got ripped. The top is still amazing, though. It has poppers down the front for easy access. An improvement on the top that I took scissors to for night feeds.

@lionsmum
and @excitednerves yes, I have had children close together. The girls are 18m apart and the big boys 16.5 months. It’s totally doable but you have to accept having very very low standards! (And remember that the big one is still just a baby). They are very emotionally close too. Especially the boys, they choose to top and tail every night even though they have their own beds.

ChampooPapi · 07/05/2020 19:56

@Teaandbiscuits123 thanks lovely 💜. Yes I also looked at gap earlier, I really like a lot of their stuff actually so almost went a bit crazy adding to my basket 😏. Check what it's made out of though as gap has a habit of doing a lot in pollycotton or viscose. I did find a fair few Cotton's bits though as well
