Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Great news about the scans today and yesterday! Good luck to anyone else who has scans this week!
Still waiting to receive my scan date! Everytime I get post delivered I jumo up to check, but no luck so far this week!

Teaandbiscuits123 · 06/05/2020 20:16

@hollyjg I’m so pleased to hear your wonderful news! So exciting!! How are you feeling?

@ChampooPapi .... it’s nearly tomorrow!!! Xx

excitednerves · 06/05/2020 20:20

@hollyjg brilliant news! Congratulations!

@motherofsnortpigs I literally couldn’t wait to 20 weeks. I’d go mad! Waiting for 12 weeks (actually 12+5) has been torture!

excitednerves · 06/05/2020 20:21

@RunnerGirl123 I hope your letter comes soon. How many weeks are you?

roro87 · 06/05/2020 20:22

Thanks guys it's been really touching seeing everyone's reaction made me feel a lot less alone in this time!
I hope everyone's scans go as well as mine I couldn't of asked for nicer people in the hospital made me feel so safe!
Plus now have my maternity notes in my possession which was so important to me.
Love to you all xx

firstbabybell · 06/05/2020 20:51

@hollyjg fabulous news! 😊
Aaaaand identical - that's so special!!! Enjoy this day xxx

peachypetite · 06/05/2020 20:52

@RunnerGirl123 call your midwife and see if it’s been booked. My letter has gone missing but I got the scan confirmed by email. Don’t wait for the letter as it could end up arriving after your scan!

RunnerGirl123 · 06/05/2020 21:09

@excitednerves and @peachypetite thanks for replying. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow, so still got a little bit of time. My midwife was booking it in during my booking in appointment but didn't say what date, she just said I'd get a letter for that and an urgent consultant appointment regarding some medication I'm on to help the pregnancy. I decided I'd give her a call Monday if I haven't had my letter(s) by then, so just trying to be a little patient, in case it is just royal mail being slow!

Snowwhite2020 · 06/05/2020 21:14

Lovely news @hollyjg 💖 xx

excitednerves · 06/05/2020 22:21

Sounds like a great plan @RunnerGirl123 and at least you know it’s in hand. You have a couple of weeks still.

I’m also consultant led so waiting on my consultant appointment now too.

Amytitch · 06/05/2020 23:16

@RunnerGirl123 Mine took just over a week to arrive in the post with the date for my 12 week scan X
Does anyone take urine samples with them or do the hospital prefer you to do it there? As my booking appointment was over the phone I am having that at the scan along with a blood test. Does anyone also know how long the results take, same day or do you find out later? Thanks x

excitednerves · 07/05/2020 02:45

@Amytitch you’ll need a full bladder for the 12 week scan so likely you’ll need to go before you leave. I haven’t ever brought one with me but no reason why not I suppose, as long as it’s, erm, fresh.

The midwife told me yesterday that results take about a week.

NatalieH2220 · 07/05/2020 06:18

@hollyjg amazing news about your scan and how exciting that they're identical.

I have my 12 week scan Monday, this week is going so slow but almost the weekend now which I'm hoping will help. Yesterday was my first day of no nausea (11+1) so hoping that's the end of it rather than just one day off but we will see.

Hope everyone is well.

EithneBlue · 07/05/2020 06:26

@RunnerGirl123 - mine took 3 days, but post services around my area have been pretty consistent. When I booked in the midwife said up to 10 days. I would say if it has been longer, give them a call :-)

@hollyjg - how exciting! :-)

@Amytitch - I haven't had my booking in blood and urine results back yet -- I get them at the 16 week appointment (but they would have called if there was a problem). I think the First Trimester Screening bloods might be similar for me :-)

firstbabybell · 07/05/2020 07:54

@runnergirl123 mine took aaaaages to come. I had decided to call my midwife on a particular day to chase it up & lo & behold it arrived that day!

RunnerGirl123 · 07/05/2020 08:08

Thanks ladies!! Will definitely call Monday after the post arrives if I haven't got my letter at that point! I need a new date to count down to, my next milestone haha! Hope you're all feeling okay, and the sickness is starting to subside

hollyjg · 07/05/2020 08:13

Hey @Amytitch I had my bloods and urine done last Wednesday and found the out yesterday at my scan but I think they just put them straight in your notes and only contact you about them if there's something wrong x

Amytitch · 07/05/2020 09:06

Thanks for your replies. I wasn't sure if taking a sample with you was what they preferred to speed things along but I think I might just go when I am there seeing as I will be desperate anyway!!! Does anyone know what sort of things they are looking out for in the urine and blood tests? My scan is the 20th May X

Teaandbiscuits123 · 07/05/2020 09:48

Is anyone else feeling nervous about telling people? My husband is desperate to share now that we’ve had the scan but I still feel like I want to keep it quiet. Our mums know and a few close friends but I just find sharing it wider (not public just more family and friends) a bit overwhelming. I think if I had it my way I’d wait until 16 weeks!

RunnerGirl123 · 07/05/2020 10:15

@Teaandbiscuits123 I think that's natural - it's been a secret this long plus with lockdown and not actually seeing people, it makes it easier to keep it your little secret for a bit longer. If you don't want to share yet, then I think it should be respected. Maybe discuss each person your partner wants to tell, it may be that it'll help him feel a bit more involved and excited at this stage? Or you could maybe both compromise and consider telling others at 14 weeks, as that'll be the start of the second trimester?? I am looking forward to sharing privately with siblings and close friends (providing all is well afterthe dating scan!) but I don't think we'll be sharing on social media.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 07/05/2020 10:25

Thanks @RunnerGirl123 - you’re right it probably will help him feel involved, especially because he hasn’t been at the appointments and he’s so excited bless him. He only wants to tell a few close family members but I’m just worried about the domino effect. We definitely won’t be doing any social media or anything like that and because I’m working from home I’m not having to hide it from colleagues (all the eating and toilet trips would have probably given me away!)
14 weeks sounds like a good compromise and I guess I have to let him have a little bit of what he wants too! X

EithneBlue · 07/05/2020 10:45

@Amytitch - I had a whole bunch of info sent to me by email and had to consent for all screenings -- check your local maternity trust website - often the info is on there. In my case it was all the screenings for HIV/Hep B, blood type and full blood count, risk factors for blood disorders. Not actually sure on the urine - just checking for infections I guess? :-)

Amytitch · 07/05/2020 11:03

@EithneBlue Ahh I will have a look now and see what I can find. Grin
