Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@peachypetite I chased mine when I didn't receive a letter - for the 12 week and my bloods. Just confirmed them over the phone didn't receive any letter.

peachypetite · 04/05/2020 08:40

Thanks I’ve emailed the antenatal team on the email I used to self refer and I got a quick response last time. If no reply I’ll phone but I’d rather have a paper trail

EithneBlue · 04/05/2020 08:43

@peachypetite - definitely get it in writing!

peachypetite · 04/05/2020 08:46

I feel anxious and not sure why. Just can’t bear the thought of going next week and being told there has been another mix up.

hollyjg · 04/05/2020 08:56

@peachypetite I felt like that when I got to my bloods as I was 15 minutes early and I was made to wait outside till 10 minutes after my appointment started - as no room inside to wait anywhere! I was sure I must have the wrong time or place.

I might ring today and check and my scan.
On another not lovely morning sickness is back with a bang this morning - hello old friend 🤢🤒

EithneBlue · 04/05/2020 09:11

@peachypetite - that's a totally normal and fair anxiety: they damaged your trust in them by messing up, so now you need to double check. Just like I will now be consistently double checking that they've labelled my blood samples with the correct name and NHS number!
The thing is, to them this is a day-to-day mundane admin work thing. To us it's a significant life event!

EithneBlue · 04/05/2020 09:12

@hollyjg My random retching is back today too. Maybe it's the idea of having to go and do some work 😂

RunnerGirl123 · 04/05/2020 09:15

I wasn't given a scan date on the phone during my booking in appointment, but she booked it in and I'm just waiting for my letter to arrive now, hopefully today!! If I don't have by Monday next week I'll chase it up, but I know Royal Mail are running a little slower than normal at the moment.

My nausea seems to have started easing its way back in, as I threw up this morning. I felt really down yesterday, had a little cry that everything might not be okay, but just trying to repeat positive affirmations to keep myself calm.

How is everyone feeling today?

kkr168 · 04/05/2020 09:22

Morning ladies, still feeling nauseous this morning but have managed to eat some toast.

I had a headache most of yesterday afternoon/evening, paracetamol didn't touch it, is there anything else that might have helped incase I get another?

RestorationInsanity · 04/05/2020 09:27

@peachypetite hope they get back to you asap.

@hollyjg sorry to hear that. I had a horrible night. Had to eat a cracker at 4 am as I felt so queasy. Do feel a bit more alive this morning, so here's hoping today is an easier day.

RestorationInsanity · 04/05/2020 09:29

@kkr168 are you getting enough liquid? Little and often throughout the day. I've been having headaches on an off and I'm just putting it down to the hormones, but you could try something with a little bit of sugar in if it could be related to low blood sugar?

kkr168 · 04/05/2020 09:38

@RestorationInsanity I probably didn't have enough liquid yesterday, I was just flaked out on the sofa for the majority of the day.

firstbabybell · 04/05/2020 10:06

@kkr168 I have also got an awful headache today. I think it's the progesterone (evil hormone) that causes them. Hydration also key. Paracetamol seems to be taking the edge off it now...

Also, for anyone considering sea sickness bands - don't waste your money! Feel so yucky today. They have made bugger all difference! 😩

ChampooPapi · 04/05/2020 10:10

@firstbabybell yes i think they are only useful for more milder sufferers. I mean scientifically how in the hell do they control hormone surges? Because thats what is making us so queasy.

ChampooPapi · 04/05/2020 10:13

@firstbabybell its definitely all about the paracetamol, fluids and food. Wish i could go for a head massage though, that would feel so good after the month long headache. I think i'd start drooling!

@ChampooPapi get your husband to get some tips from youtube & give you that much needed head massage x

ChampooPapi · 04/05/2020 11:24

@kkr168 I do alrea inforce head and feet rubbing, I have actually just order some foot scrub and foot butter from cowshed so he can go full pedicure professional. However I crave the small delicate hands of a woman at my local aromatherapy salon, she has the magic touch.

Plus she does it for more then ten minutes because she is being paid

Morning All,

I’m sorry to hear that the morning sickness has made a reappearance for some.

@kkr168 I’ve also started to get headaches. On Friday I had to take paracetamol and then just sleep it off with a hot water bottle on the back of my neck. I’ve also found that a tiny bit of tiger balm on my temples helps. My chemist said that it’s fine to use in pregnancy and I’ve read that you just shouldn’t overuse it but there are also some that say you shouldn’t use it at all so maybe read up before trying. I also use Epsom salts in my bath and I find them amazing for tension and backache - I haven’t seen anything to say that you shouldn’t use them in pregnancy.

@lionsmum I’ve also had funny pains on and off and a lot of pelvic pain especially after walking. The midwife said that the pelvic pain is called symphysis pubis dysfunction and that it can happen when everything is stretching. I’m putting all the pains down to the stretching and growing (and probably some gas!) but it really is anxiety provoking. Does it seem to happen at certain times? Mine seems worse in the evening.

Someone also mentioned bras - I’d love any suggestions for good ones! I’m having a bit of a nightmare - I’m very big as it is (30H before pregnancy) and everything is uncomfortable. I ordered a couple of maternity ones from bravissimo but they didn’t offer any support at all Confused I end up having to take it off by the afternoon and it’s not a good look! Luckily I’m working from home at the minute!

Teaandbiscuits123 · 04/05/2020 11:36

@ChampooPapi lol I’m glad I’m not the only one that has to battle for a mere ten minutes! He claims that his ‘hands hurt’!! Oh how I miss going for a massage!

peachypetite · 04/05/2020 11:43

I’ve had loads of headaches too and nothing helps except lying down and having a nap. Definitely hormonal rather than dehydration.

kkr168 · 04/05/2020 12:02

@Teaandbiscuits123 I have been living in genie bras (think thats what they are called) they are so comfortable, they are basically stretchy crop top/sports bras.
Similar to this.... www.amazon.co.uk/SIMIYA-Comfort-Bralette-Leisure-Stretch/dp/B07CTDRWJF/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&s=clothing&keywords=stretch+bra&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1588589981&sr=1-7
I was a 36dd pre pregnancy, my regular bras still fit at the moment surprisingly as my boobs look so much bigger/fuller. This pregnancy has given me a boob lift, I look like i'm walking around in a wonderbra!! We haven't told family yet (except OH told his dad, who told his wife) & I've had a few comments on skype that my boobs look huge, I shrug it off saying it must be the camera angle lol.

JustFrigginNameChange · 04/05/2020 12:46

@Teaandbiscuits123 i think im getting these pelvic pains too! I seem to get them first thing in the morning when im walking up the road to take my daughter to school. It's weird because i didnt get any pelvic pain until the third trimester last time.

I cant stop yawing at work its terrible!

roro87 · 04/05/2020 12:59

I went to the out of hours doctor this morning and it was actually my doctor that was on call which was great. So she checked me over prescribed me a mild laxative and then used the doppler. now this isn't her normal office but a place all doctors in the area use so equipment isn't the best so she think she located the heart beat and said she was fairly confident but because of the sound quality couldn't be sure. Feel much better having got it checked out

Teaandbiscuits123 · 04/05/2020 13:07

@kkr168 thank you for the link - do you find them supportive enough? So funny that people are commenting on skype! I’m quite glad that I’m not really seeing anyone as hubby has told me I’m getting chunky lol and I don’t want to give the game away either!

@JustFrigginNameChange yes mine started at about 9 weeks and seems to come and go - the other day it felt like my pelvis was totally locked up when we went for a walk, I had to go at snail’s pace!

You poor thing being at work! I’m working from home which has been such a blessing, I don’t know how I would have coped over the past few weeks at work - for one thing I’m eating SO much! Have to get up every hour to get a snack lol

kkr168 · 04/05/2020 13:39

@Teaandbiscuits123 They are not as supportive as a regular bra but they do the job & are soooo comfortable. Mine had removable pads which I took straight out, they never seemed to stay in the right place!
