Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@hollyjg I'd love to personally venture out just to try and feel a sense of normality. But enjoy those peaceful minutes whilst he's gone

kkr168 · 02/05/2020 10:03

@peachypetite I've had the same, I thought I'd suddenly developed hayfever. I've had the odd nose bleed too!
Has anyone told family/friends yet? I've told my friend, my husband told his dad who then told his mum. I think I'm going to hold off telling anyone else until after the scan, last time we told everyone & it was awful having to then tell them all I'd miscarried. I do feel bad that my husband's parents know & mine don't, but my mum was so upset that I miscarried that I don't want to put that on her again.

MySafeSpace · 02/05/2020 10:11

@kkr168 we've only told my place of work due to the nature of what I do and this virus. Really didn't want them knowing before anyone else but needs must I guess. Gonna hold off till after the scan for friends and family

hollyjg · 02/05/2020 10:14

@kkr168 we told close close family just because we were so excited it was twins. But definitely waiting a while to tell friends and stuff as I think there is so many risks - 4 days to till 12 week scan!

I've woken up to nosebleeds in the night as well.

kkr168 · 02/05/2020 10:25

Only 4 days @hollyjg how exciting.
I think mines last out of this group, it's on the 20th, the majority seem to be the 19th.

Bobbieblu · 02/05/2020 10:37

I’m even later than that- 29th... Got ages to wait! But I’ve got another early scan next week in the meantime.

firstbabybell · 02/05/2020 12:08

We told parents when we had the positive test - but it's slightly different with IVF as people know whats going on. Especially if you have a long bumpy ride!

My work have known since the start - I am normally patient facing so had no choice. My consultant (boss) is really excited for me though which is cute & it's nice talking to someone about it!

Told siblings at 8 week scan but waiting to tell others til 12 weeks. It's pretty easy to hide it in lockdown! I have a fizzy water in a G&T glass & no one's any the wiser! 😂

firstbabybell · 02/05/2020 12:09

Should have clarified - G&T glass is for zoom calls!

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 12:34

@kkr168 we've told both sets of parents and step parent, plus about three friends! I was so useless a few weeks back and just couldn't face responding to anyone for a few weeks, especially over my birthday early April, I just handed over my phone to my partner and told him if anyone phones for me tell them I'm pregnant 😂

I panicked because I thought if I didn't respond people would be worrying about caronavirus so I thought best to keep them in the loop.

If it doesn't work out I'll be so devastated that I'll want them to know about it. Can you imagine keeping everything you'd been through that first trimester a secret deep inside? I did that last time and it was rotton I can tell you.

So I've fully shared this time. They are all supportive and now completely understand if I don't call them every other day to catch up during quatenteen.

All my side are separated, mum, dad and step dad, all live alone so I'd usually be calling at least one of them every few days. It has given me a much need pass the last month

@Bobbieblu what day is your early scan? Mine is Thursday and I'll be a day off 11 weeks.

@firstbabybell it is kind of the perfect situation for first trimester hiding and hybernation isn't it? Though to be honest I would be living a very similar existance even under no kind of curfew

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 12:47

@Bobbieblu oh also I read that although we've both been told we are having non identical twins apparently about a third can end up being identical after an early diagnosis like ours.

Mine was at a scan at 8 weeks, separate sacks but possibly share a placenta. Sometimes it's hard to see because there twin placentas can join together

OP posts:
Bobbieblu · 02/05/2020 12:56

@champoopapi my scan is on Tuesday when I’ll be 9+3. Can’t wait to see them again and just hope everything is moving along normally. Really interesting about the twins, I’m know mine were in separate sacks but can’t remember if they mentioned the placenta. Really hope your scan goes well- do you get the results of the harmony test quite quickly after?

NatalieH2220 · 02/05/2020 12:56

@kkr168 We told my mum, dad, sister and hubby's parents after my early scan. Will wait until 12 week scan to tell work and other family. Desperate to tell one of my friends but also don't want to tell too many people too soon.

kkr168 · 02/05/2020 13:04

I wanted our boys to be the 1st to know but it broke their hearts & mine telling them we'd lost the last pregnancy. I think this is more why I've not told anyone, I'd rather get the 12 week scan out of the way, then tell them & from there we can tell everyone else.

The eldest was saying a few days ago "it's a good job your not pregnant now, with all the uncertainty of the corona virus" it was hard not to say "well actually, surprise, I'm pregnant"

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:08

@Bobbieblu the results are sent to a lab in the UK so should be about a week, which is good because my 12 week scan is only ten days later. Are you bricking it a bit? I'm going to be so full of adrenaline by Thursday, that journey up to Exeter alone on the train is going to be intense for me 😆

@kkr168 you've got a lot more willpower then me! I'd have said 'guess what I am, now you go get mummy a lolly please'

You have iron willpower women when you have small people who could potentially be doing your bidding

OP posts:
Bobbieblu · 02/05/2020 13:15

@champoopapi Yup, absolutely terrified. It’s just so scary not knowing what is going on inside!

Good luck to everyone with the upcoming scans!

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:15

And to clarify I haven't been traveling about at all since my positive test other then my hospital scan. I'm not doing shopping or going anywhere other then occasional strolls.

But my partner needs to stay with the kids and I don't drive so the train seems the best option. It's only a 40 minute journey and all public transport locally is deserted currently

peachypetite · 02/05/2020 13:16

We told our parents. I decided I’d want support if anything went wrong. They are all very excited (first time either side will have a grandchild)

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:19

@Bobbieblu I know it's torture 😬

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:20

@Bobbieblu we are almost exactly a week between us date wise. Please please update us after your scan Tuesday or we will all go insane 🙏

OP posts:
hollyjg · 02/05/2020 13:31

My twins look like they're in one sack but the doctor at the early scan didn't say if they were identical or not.
Excited to find out at the 12 week scan.

It is hard not tell people I think especially with the boredom of quarantine I want to ring all my friends and talk about it!

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:40

@hollyjg I'm pretty sure of they are in the same sack they are always identical. Dr Google tells me they are called mono twins. Oh my god I hope your partner got the right snacks, men are so annoying with shopping lists sometimes, mine came back with a whole pineapple once as a substitution for salad.

Beware the substitution of the man, especially when he substitutes specific expensive biscuits for something like a wagon wheel 😂

OP posts:
kkr168 · 02/05/2020 13:40

@ChampooPapi they're not small people, they're 22, 19 & 16 but would still bring me a lolly if asked 😂. The eldest 2 aren't mine biologically but to me they are all my boys, I've raised them from the ages of 1 & 4! That's part of the reason I stopped after having 1, it was hard work raising 3 kids.
During the booking appointment the midwife assumed this baby was with a new partner because of the huge gap between babies!!

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 13:43

@kkr168 oh I remember your age gap post now 🤦 oh well they should definitely be doing your bidding anyway! Their hands are large and strong so I hope they are lifting their weight, especially when it comes to the fetching of items, remotes, food, lip balm

I'm amazed you've not told them!

OP posts:
hollyjg · 02/05/2020 13:56

@ChampooPapi honestly men are the worst buyers. He gets fed up because every time I ask hmm to pick me up something on the way home he always seems to get it wrong lol 🤦🏼🤷🏼‍♂️
Wagon wheels are his favourite biscuits as well! I can't stand them 😂🍪
