Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

So exciting! Just got my booking in appointment and scan appointment through! Next Thursday for booking in and Thursday 21 for scan! I'll be 11+3 then.

Bobbieblu · 01/05/2020 12:12

@hollyjg I always wake up starving in the night and have to eat biscuits before I can sleep again- feel like a total pig!

I’m 9 weeks tomorrow and feeling a bit daunted that I may have another month of feeling sick. Anytime I think I might feel a bit better I’m promptly sick again 🤢. I think a few of you are a week or so ahead of me- any sign of the sickness starting to pass?

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 12:14

I've just had a look at with the Healthy Start voucher scheme you are able to get help with vitamins which is good to know.

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 12:21

Yay @RestorationInsanity it is so exciting when you get set dates for appointments! You'll be counting down the days like all of us now 🥳🤰🏼

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 12:45

@Bobbieblu I'm 11+2 and haven't been physically sick in the morning for 3 days - I was violently heaving every morning before that.
I definitely still feel nauseas at times but it has got a lot better as the weeks go on. 😊

Bobbieblu · 01/05/2020 13:04

@hollyjg really good to hear that! It gives me hope, thank you.

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 13:57

@hollyjg a twin midwife sounds fancy! Sure she'll know more then mine who had no idea about the Harmony test or if I should take double folic/folate.

From my own research looks like a very good idea to take double folic. But don't take double pregnacare. Maybe time to ditch it and get the folic and vitamin d combination from boots/morisons/superdrug ect (so much cheaper)

Then get your iron in liquid form either using spatone or the biocare range does a liquid one too 😊

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 14:01

I'm taking double these

www.superdrug.com/Health/Vitamins-&-Supplements/Vitamin-D/Superdrug-Vitamin-D-With-Folic-Acid-Tablets-X-60/p/769054

Then I take spatone liquid and vitamin B12 liquid

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 14:02

Pregnant women should take double the iron sachets, so 2 x a day. And definitely get the one with apple mixed in already as you absorb iron so much better with vitamin c. It's in the link anyway

@RestorationInsanity great news you've got your scan date , it's a very good feeling to have it to work towards and look forward to. Bet it feels good to be in the system after all these weeks!

@hollyjg those superdrug ones are 2,99 so a lot more affordable then pregnacare! Also supermarkets all do their own brand of pregnancy vitamins for a fraction of the price and the ingredients are exactly the same.

It's like paracetamol and Panadol....same drug, brand name.

Pregnacare is a brand so you are paying a lot extra to wee out a lot of the excess vitamins you are also probably getting in your food as well.

Stick to the basic formulations and you also know exactly what you actually taking as well.

Double folic is really encouraged for twins because of spinabifida. A friend of mine didn't take it and her baby was born very small so it is really recommended to double up on that one.

So my scan is booked for the end of this month (think I'll be closer to 13 weeks than 12 when it happens but I'm not fussed). After that, we're going to tell people. Would like to see my parents' faces but they're not keen on Skype/Zoom etc, would rather use the phone. Can anyone think of an excuse to get them into a video call without them guessing what the news is?!! They're quite technically able to do it, they just find the phone easier.

Assuming we're not enough out of lockdown for me to travel 50 miles to see them...

peachypetite · 01/05/2020 14:22

@Bobbieblu I’ve been feeling better (10 weeks} and eating more on the most part.

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 14:24

Thanks @ChampooPapi that's so helpful!

Also I've worked out my 12 week scan I'm only going to be 11+6?!
Do you think I should ring and let them know as they might not be able to see everything on the scan?

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 14:39

Thanks @firstbabybell I am worried though cause my last pregnancy when the morning sickness stopped that's when I started being sick after my meals!
Oh the joys of womanhood 😂

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 15:03

@hollyjg it's fine between 11-14 weeks if memory serves me right lovely 😊

You're a superstar putting my mind at ease during these times!
Everyone in this thread is!

RestorationInsanity · 01/05/2020 15:34

I'll only be 11+3 @hollyjg, worst case I guess they have to rescan (although I wouldn't mind seeing baby twice assuming all is otherwise well!)

NatalieH2220 · 01/05/2020 15:35

Thanks so much @ChampooPapi
I was told if they get short on sonographers they may not be able to do the test for downs, Edwards etc so I think I'll hold off for my 12 week scan and if they can't then I'll look at this. It's not cheap though!

Interesting all the comments on Pregnacare, I used them last time and had no issues but wonder if they are linked to the sickness this time. I'm sure it's worse this time anyway. My midwife has prescribed me Vit D in addition to taking the pregnacare as it's a 'winter baby'.

I ordered a pregnancy pillow today so hoping that'll help with getting comfy at night. I feel like I'm complaining more this time around but my husband assures me I was just as bad last time Hmm

RestorationInsanity · 01/05/2020 15:51

@NatalieH2220 if it helps can you let me know which one you got? I'm already struggling with a sciatica flare up and usually see my osteo at least every 8 weeks so it's going to be hard going to keep on top of it without his help at the moment!

Sorry that you're having a tough time sleeping.

Also, anyone struggling to swallow tablets, I use a vitamin D spray. It jus tastes if mint and you spritz it into the side of your cheek. Bought on Amazon.

NatalieH2220 · 01/05/2020 16:07

@RestorationInsanity I just got this one from Asda, didn't want to spend too much. I will let you know if it's any good!

twinsbelly · 01/05/2020 16:34

I had a scan yesterday - just one baby thank goodness! I think two sets of twins would finish me off. 9 ish weeks and heart is beating away so I'm very relieved all round!
